Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Coronation Street alumnus Ryan Thomas has shared that his family is baffled by his return to the iconic ITV soap, remarking that they "don't understand it". A cornerstone of the cobbled streets, Ryan first stepped into the role of Jason Grimshaw in 2000, quickly embedding himself into the fabric of Weatherfield. His character became known for a string of entangled romantic exploits with Weatherfield's women like Rosie Webster, Maria Connor, and Sarah Platt — the latter portrayed by Tina O'Brien, who shares a child with Ryan. Beyond his tumultuous love life, a defining element of his stint on the street was his bond with his on-screen mother Eileen, played by Sue Cleaver, who herself is gearing up to bid farewell to the street. Yet, nearly a decade since he waved goodbye, news has broken that the actor, now 40, is primed for a dramatic comeback. Fans are set for a surprise as Jason returns from his Thai sojourn to drop back into Weatherfield, leaving residents stunned by his unexpected appearance, reports Belfast Live. (Image: ITV) (Image: ITV) (Image: Getty Images) As anticipation builds for his screen resurgence later this month, Ryan has confessed his brood is yet to share in the excitement, with the actor suggesting his kids may well give watching his heralded Corrie return a miss. Speaking candidly to Inside Soap, he reflected on the importance of Coronation Street in his life: "Even if my children don't understand it now, there will come a time when we sit down and show them. Corrie will always be a reminder of who I am and where I came from." His return to Weatherfield is amidst the Grimshaws' woes, coming hot off the heels of aunty Julie Carp's passing following a lengthy cancer battle. This family grief is compounded as Eileen becomes entangled with the law, facing scrutiny over allegations of having murdered her own sister, Julie. During a heartfelt chat on Loose Women, Sue reminisced about her time on the soap: "I've had 25 privileged years of working on Coronation Street." She elaborated on her decision to leave, stating: "The door is still firmly open but as I reached my 60th year, I decided it was time to embrace change, look for new adventures and live fearlessly." Sue took a sabbatical from the cobbles to tread the boards in 'Sister Act The Musical', and subsequently ventured into the jungle on I'm A Celeb in 2022. ITV Coronation Street's Alan Halsall goes public with new girlfriend as their romance gets 'serious'
Coronation Street's Alan Halsall has gone public with his new girlfriend Ellie Dolan, who he has reportedly been dating for a few months and who has already met his daughter. ITV Coronation Street's Alan Halsall has made his new romance official, stepping out with human resources coordinator Ellie Dolan. Those close to the couple have described their bond as "serious", revealing that his gorgeous new girlfriend Ellie has already won over Alan's daughter Sienna. The I'm A Celeb star, best known for his role as Tyrone Dobbs in Coronation Street, took to social media on Friday evening to share a sweet snapshot with Ellie and Sienna, simply adorning it with a loving heart emoji. It marked the first time that Alan has been publicly seen with Ellie. An insider disclosed: "Alan is really happy. Ellie is a great girl and they have lots of common. And she gets on so well with Sienna, which is so important to Alan. Sienna is his world." The couple reportedly first crossed paths at Marriott Worsley Park golf club, where Ellie works and Alan is a regular. Last year, Alan, 42, parted ways with ITV Coronation Street co-star Tisha Merry, 31, after five years together. Their love story began within the walls of the ITV set, the Mirror reports. Alan shares his 11-year-old daughter Sienna with ex-wife and actress Lucy-Jo Hudson, also known for her work on both Corrie and Hollyoaks. Their marriage spanned nearly a decade from 2009 to 2018. As a longstanding fixture on the cobbles, Alan has portrayed mechanic Tyrone Dobbs for over two and a half decades and recently placed sixth on the 2024 series of I'm A Celebrity. While reflecting on his romantic experiences amid the jungle backdrop, he revealed: "I love what I've got, even now I'm on my own I love just being dad. I've never done dating apps." Alan Halsall, who famously portrays Tyrone in Corrie, enjoys a special bond with his on-screen partner, Jennie McAlpine, known to viewers as Fizz. The pair, who have been playing husband and wife for years, were recently spotted having lunch, with Alan affectionately dubbing Jennie his "work wife" in a social media post. Fans of Coronation Street have been enraptured by Tyrone and Fizz's tumultuous relationship, which has seen its fair share of ups and downs over the past 22 years. Many are rooting for their ultimate happiness, especially after a near-miss wedding in 2015 when Tyrone popped the question on Christmas Day, only for their plans to crumble due to financial woes. Their love appeared to end in 2021 when Tyrone strayed with Alina, the beautician, but the star-crossed lovers couldn't stay apart and finally made it official by getting married the next year. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Fizz has had quite a dramatic romantic history herself, having wed serial killer John Stape, played by Graeme Hawle, while he was incarcerated in 2009 and recently saying 'I do' to Phill Whittaker, portrayed by Jamie Kenna, this year, only to leave him for Tyrone moments after. Tyrone's matrimonial ventures are just as storied, with previous ties to Molly Compton, played by Vicky Binns, in 2009, and a close call at the altar with the abusive Kirsty Soames, Natalie Gumede, whom he left before they could exchange vows.

ITV Coronation Street fans predict soap legend will return to cobbles to save Sean Tully
ITV Coronation Street fans are convinced that a former cobbles legend is set to make a return, 36 years after her first episode, to save Sean Tully from thug Mick Michaelis. Coronation Street enthusiasts are speculating that a soap legend might return to rescue Sean Tully from the clutches of Mick Michaelis. Sean, played by Antony Cotton, has been a staple on the ITV soap since his debut in 2003 and has become one of its most cherished characters. The Rovers Return barman has been involved in numerous major storylines over the years, including a series of failed romances and becoming a father to Dylan Wilson, portrayed by Liam McCheyne. Recently, things took a dark turn on the cobbles when newcomer Mick, played by Joe Layton, brutally attacked Sean. As fans will remember, Sean's son Liam is currently in the Secure Training Centre (STC) following his involvement in the death of Mason Radcliffe, played by Luca Toolan. His time there has been challenging, as he's being tormented by bully Brody, played by Ryan Mulvey, Leicester Mercury reports. In a shocking twist, it was revealed that Brody is actually the son of Mick and Lou, played by Farrel Hegarty. However, after Sean reported Brody's behaviour, Mick assured Brody he would handle the problem - referring to Sean. Later, Sean was discovered beaten and bloodied after Mick attacked him, which Sean reported to the police. But when Mick threatened Sean's friend Gemma, played by Dolly-Rose Campbell, Sean changed his statement. Now, as Mick's reign of terror unfolds on screen, causing havoc for the residents, fans believe a former resident could be returning to put an end to his tyranny. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, fans expressed their eagerness for certain characters to exit. Another fan speculated about the return of a familiar face, writing: "He's vile, they need to get Liz McD back she wouldn't stand for any of this!" A third chimed in: "Definitely!" Soap legend Liz McDonald, portrayed by Beverley Callard, first graced the screen in 1989. Known as Sean's close friend, Liz managed the Rovers Return Inn for many years until her departure in 2020. In other Coronation Street news, fans are also chatting about a potential new romantic interest for the adored Roy Cropper. Roy, played by David Neilson, was famously married to on-screen wife Hayley, portrayed by Julie Hesmondhalgh. BBC Escape to the Country buyer says 'you're joking' after hearing price of house with 13 acres
A buyer on Escape to the Country couldn't help but "hop in the bath" during her property search on the BBC show. Liz, Dennis and Jo were hoping to relocate from Kent to start a more peaceful life in Devon. Liz's husband Dennis has dementia and wanted to move into the perfect property located in quieter area, alongside their daughter Jo. Jo and Liz joined BBC Escape to the Country presenter Alistair Appleton who helped the property hunters find their ideal home. They had a budget of £875,000 having already sold their house, and hoped to find a large three bedroom home with three acres of land for their horse. They also wanted a ground floor bedroom for Dennis, and needed enough space and business potential for Jo's equine yoga classes. Alistair Appleton felt the pressure as he showed Liz and Jo around four different options located within the tranquil area of Devon. The first property was a 21st century modern house on the market for £795,000 featuring a large kitchen, four bedrooms with one ground floor bedroom and a whopping thirteen acres of land including outbuildings and a barn. READ MORE: ITV Coronation Street David Platt star makes show exit admission as he says '25 years is a long time' READ MORE: Court closed until further notice as notice posted on door Liz was truly: "blown away by the potential", while Jo agreed: "the downstairs is exactly what we asked for." Alistair hoped the success would continue as he took the mum and daughter to a second property. The house boasted "beautiful views" of Dartmoor, and Jo felt like she was "away from the world" in the property's scenic grounds. The former farmhouse was full of character with its five bedrooms and country kitchen, and also came with an attached stone farm, perfect for Jo's yoga studio. But Jo was most impressed with the view: "You can actually have this as a view everyday." Liz agreed: "The place just blows you away it's full of atmosphere." They began to guess the price of the property, but Alistair told them they were being "a bit pessimistic." The BBC presenter revealed it was on the market for £725,000, as Jo said: "You're joking, oh wow!" She added: "Everywhere you look is just beautiful." Alistair's third option offered six acres of land to cater for Jo's horse, who admitted the "outside space is amazing." The 1960s house included four bedrooms, with two on the ground floor. Liz said: "I have to admit when I first saw the property I was a bit underwhelmed, but once we went inside, it was a lot larger than it looks from the outside. " Liz thought the house needed some 'TLC', but was definitely a contender for the family. Finally, Alistair took them to his Mystery Property. The former farm building was converted in 1994, and a "quirky" option for Jo and Liz to take a look at. It offered five bedrooms, a spacious kitchen, two acres of land and even a stable for their horse. It also offered the largest bathroom so far in the search, and Liz couldn't help put get into the bath. She said: "Should we hop in the bath, it's worth a try isn't it?" After viewing the property, Jo revealed: "I personally love the house, it was a bit different, interesting." In the end, Jo explained the second property was her favourite, but the family wanted to speak to the owners about purchasing more land for their horse. However, at the end of the episode, Alistair revealed they had found an alternative house and they were in the process of buying it. Escape to the Country airs on BBC One at 3pm.
