'The establishment of KRITI marks a pivotal moment in BITS Pilani's journey,' stated Prof. Ramgopal Rao, Vice Chancellor, BITS Pilani.
'It reinforces our unwavering commitment not only to academic excellence but also to nurturing socially responsible innovators who can transform the future of rural India. This Centre will serve as a vital launchpad for a new generation of change makers dedicated to building an inclusive growth . We are profoundly grateful to Neeraja and Raju Reddy for their visionary support; their commitment is a powerful testament to their belief in the ability of BITS students and alumni to drive meaningful change,' the Vice-Chancellor added.
The Centre's core objectives include cultivating value-based leadership for social transformation, supporting the incubation of high-impact ventures, creating robust pathways for engagement with non-profits, social enterprises, grassroots innovators, and fostering empathy, volunteerism, and responsible citizenship. Meet Maitri Mangal, who was hired for record-breaking package by Google, not from IIT, IIM, IIIT, NIT, VIT, her salary is Rs.... For many students studying technology and computer science, the dream is to work at world-famous companies like Microsoft or Google. But getting there is not easy for everyone. In India, IITs are considered the best institutes for computer science, and students from these colleges often get job offers from such companies quite easily. However, there are also people who manage to reach Google or Microsoft without an IIT degree. Maitri Mangal is one such example. She works at Google and earns Rs. 1.6 crore a year. Here's how she prepared herself to land a job at Google. Who is Maitri Mangal? Maitri Mangal, who works as a software engineer at Google's New York City Metropolitan Area office, has reached great heights in her career through hard work and dedication. She earned her bachelor's degree in computer science from Binghamton University and has made a name for herself in the tech world. She also worked at Boston University, where she completed her Network Science Research internship. She worked as a software engineer at Bloomberg LP and USA Today. Maitri always had a strong interest in technology and programming. Even though she studied at a regular college, she constantly worked on improving her skills. Today, she holds a software engineering role at Google in New York City, where she works on software development, project management, and innovative tech solutions. How much Maitri Mangal earn and what is her success mantra? Maitri Mangal earns an annual salary of about Rs. 1.6 crore at Google. While talking to podcaster and author Kushal Lodha, Maitri Mangal shared details about her salary and monthly spending in the US. Speaking from her apartment, she revealed that her monthly expenses are about USD 5,000 (around Rs. 4.2 lakh). Out of this, rent alone takes up a big chunk—around USD 3,000 (Rs. 2.5 lakh). Her other costs, like eating out, groceries, and entertainment, range between USD 1,000 and USD 2,000 (Rs. 85,684–Rs. 1,71,368), while transportation adds another USD 100 to USD 200 (Rs. 8,568–Rs. 17,136) each month. Through her social media posts and videos, Maitri often advises tech students to keep learning all the time. She says they should explore different coding languages and keep working on new projects and courses. In the world of technology, things change every single day, and if you stop learning, you'll quickly fall behind. For young people dreaming of joining the tech industry, Maitri's journey is truly motivating. She has shown that big degrees are not the only key to success, consistent practice and dedication matter more.

ONGC Q1 net profit drops 10 pc on lower oil prices

New Delhi, Aug 13 (PTI) State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has reported a 10 per cent decline in its June quarter net profit on lower oil prices and stagnant production from its aging fields. The company reported a net profit of ₹ 8,024 crore in the first quarter of 2025-26 fiscal year, compared to ₹ 8,938 crore earning in the same period last year, a company statement said. The firm realised USD 67.87 for every barrel of crude oil it pumped out of ground and below seabed from sale to refiners, who convert it into fuels like petrol and diesel, as compared to USD 80.64 per barrel realisation in April-June 2024. Price of natural gas, which is used to generate electricity, produce fertiliser or turned into CNG and piped cooking gas, marginally rose to USD 6.64 per million British thermal units in Q1 from USD 6.5 in last year. ONGC said gas from new wells it drills is eligible for a 20 per cent premium over the government set price, called APM. "ONGC is actively working to boost output from such wells. In Q1 of 2025-26 (FY'26), revenue from new well gas stood at ₹ 1,703 crore, delivering an additional ₹ 333 crore compared to the APM gas price," the statement said. The company produced 4.683 million tonnes of crude oil in Q1, almost the same as last year's 4.629 million tonnes. Gas output too was almost unchanged at 4.846 billion cubic meters in the quarter. During the quarter, the firm made two discoveries of hydrocarbons in the Mumbai offshore. Other highlights of the quarter included commencement of production from the PY-3 field -- a joint venture of ONGC, Hardy Exploration & Production (India) Inc, and Invenire Petrodyne Ltd located offshore in the Cauvery Basin on the east coast of India. The field is producing 4,000 barrels of oil per day and 88,000 standard cubic meters a day of gas. Also, North Karanpura CBM block was put on production. "ONGC commenced the supply of treated natural gas from its newly established gas treatment facility at Palatana, Tripura on June 9. 2025. The gas is being supplied to the city gas distribution (CGD) network in the Gomati through GAIL, enhancing the region's access to cleaner fuel," the statement said. The firm said it has got special dispensation from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas for selling gas to Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RRVUNL) at USD 6.5 per mmBtu from Jodhpur. RRVUNL conveyed their consent for offtake of around 0.1 million standard cubic meters per day of gas using the existing GAIL gas pipeline. ONGC and its overseas subsidiary, ONGC Videsh signed an MOU for coordinated marketing functions. "This MoU is the first step towards enhancing operational synergy and optimizing marketing efficiencies for ONGC and its group companies."
