Four Rantoul establishments fail liquor compliance detail for underage alcohol sales
RANTOUL, Ill. (WCIA) — Four of the 16 Rantoul establishments tested during a recent alcohol compliance detail sold alcohol to someone under the age of 21.
On June 5, the Rantoul Police Department, in partnership with the Illinois Liquor Control Commission, conducted an alcohol compliance detail at local bars and package liquor stores. These compliance checks are designed to ensure businesses selling alcohol are not allowing sales to anyone under the age of 21.

The following establishments did not pass the detail, and clerks from these places were issued Village Ordinance violations for selling liquor to someone underage:
Casey's
300 S Century Blvd.
Vegas Place
1287 E Grove Ave.
Colonial Liquor
219 S Maplewood Drive
Shooters Bar & Grill
215 S Tanner St.
Additionally, the notice of these violations was sent to the liquor commission.

38-year-old man arrested in Urbana on child exploitation crimes
URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — A joint investigation by the Urbana Police Department and a Kentucky Police Department resulted in the arrest of a 38-year-old man on three child sex crimes Wednesday morning. On June 11, officers with the Urbana Police Department arrested Carson Zajdel at his residence in the 1900 block of N Lincoln Ave., officials said in a release. He was taken into custody without incident on the following preliminary charges: Indecent solicitation of a child Sexual exploitation of a child Possession of child pornography 4-year-old hurt in Danville hit-and-run; driver charged The arrest of Zajdel comes after a joint investigation between the Urbana Police Department and the Hopkinsville Police Department, based in Hopkinsville, KY. This investigation remains active and ongoing, and additional charges may be considered as evidence continues to be reviewed. According to Urbana Police, because of the sensitive and ongoing nature of the investigation, no additional information is being released at this time. Additionally, the department is asking anyone with more details on this situation to call them at 217-384-2320. Arrangements can be made for information to be shared privately with Urbana Police. Sangamon, Menard Co. Crime Stoppers seeking tips in theft at Springfield church
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — The Crime Stoppers of Sangamon and Menard Counties are looking for tips from the public to identify an individual who stole cash from a church and caused thousands of dollars in damage. The theft happened around 10 p.m. on April 2 in the First Church of God, located at 2800 Adlai Stevenson Drive in Springfield. Officials said an unknown white male suspect forced his way into the church. Multiple vehicles burglarized in Mahomet; suspect arrested Once inside, he took money from a cash box and damaged the church. Now, Springfield Police is hoping the public will help them identify him. According to Crime Stoppers, he was wearing light colored clothing, dark colored shoes and was carrying a dark colored drawstring bag. Anyone with further information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 217-788-8427, submit a tip online or use the P3 app. Crime Stoppers said tips that result in an arrest could earn you up to $2,500.
