
Human remains discovered on island in St. Lawrence River in eastern Ontario
Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the discovery of human remains on an island on the St. Lawrence River near Gananoque.
Police say officers responded to a call for a person at approximately 10 a.m. Monday, reporting they found remains on the island.
'The identity of the deceased has not been determined, and it is not known how long the individual has been deceased,' police said. 'The OPP does not believe there is any indication of a risk to public safety.'
A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Gananoque is located between Kingston and Brockville along the St. Lawrence River.
