Lil Nas X arrested and hospitalized after reports of possible overdose, police say

Lil Nas X was hospitalized and arrested in Los Angeles. The 26-year-old "Old Town Road" rapper and two-time Grammy winner – whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill – was arrested just after 6 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, according to Los Angeles Sheriff's Department inmate records. In a statement to USA TODAY, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Drake Madison said, "This morning, around 5:50 am, officers responded to the 11000 block of Ventura Boulevard for a nude man walking in the street." "Upon arrival, the suspect charged at officers and was taken into custody," the LAPD alleged. "He was transported to a local hospital for a possible overdose and placed under arrest for Battery on a Police Officer." Though the LAPD did not identify the man in their initial statement, Madison later confirmed the incident was related to Lil Nas X's arrest. USA TODAY reached out to reps for Lil Nas X for comment. The social media sensation's Instagram page has also been scrubbed except for 11 posts. One of Hollywood's most high-profile LGBTQ+ stars in the music industry, known for his eccentric forms of music promotion and signature humor, Lil Nas X has receded from the heights of his past viral stardom in recent years. In 2018, he broke out with his popular country-tinged single "Old Town Road" after dropping out of college. The track featured a buzzy remix with genre patriarch Billy Ray Cyrus, and the collaboration later became the longest-running No. 1 song in Billboard Hot 100 history. Two other Hot 100 No. 1s followed: "Industry Baby" with fellow rapper Jack Harlow and the solo "Montero (Call Me by Your Name)." The singer released his aptly-titled debut album "Montero" in 2021. He recently released the EP "Days Before Dreamboy" in late March, ahead of the release of his upcoming second studio album "Dreamboy," which is expected to drop later this year. He also boasts 11 career Grammy nominations. But earlier this year, the "That's What I Want" hitmaker faced health struggles. He posted an Instagram video of himself from a hospital bed late in April, telling his followers he "lost control of the right side" of his face. "This is me doing a full smile by the way," he said in the video, laughing in disbelief. "I can't even laugh right, bro. Oh my God!" He then joked about his condition on his Instagram stories, but assured fans he was OK. "Stop being sad for me!" he wrote. "Imma look funny for a lil bit but that's it," he said, adding crying emojis. Lil Nas X jailed on suspicion of charging at police on LA street where he walked nearly naked

LOS ANGELES — Rapper Lil Nas X was arrested and briefly taken to a hospital for a suspected overdose Thursday after Los Angeles police say he charged at officers responding to a report of a naked man walking on a busy boulevard. Lil Nas X, whose legal name is Montero Lamar Hill, was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor obstructing an officer and was being held in jail. Officers found him walking on the normally very busy Ventura Boulevard in the Studio City neighborhood shortly before 6 a.m., Los Angeles police spokesman Officer Charles Miller said. After charging at arriving police, he was taken into custody, but the officers, suspecting a drug overdose, took him to a hospital first, Miller said. There was no further word on his condition, but he was released from the hospital and taken to jail after just a few hours. Video obtained by TMZ appeared to show him on the street wearing only underwear and boots. He was being held at Valley Jail in Van Nuys, near where the police found him. Messages to Lil Nas X representatives seeking comment were not immediately answered. The 26-year-old rapper and singer from Atlanta is best known for his huge hit from 2018, 'Old Town Road,' which merged country and hip-hop. It spent a record 19 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Known for his genre-bending, innovating sounds and style, his first full studio album, 2021's 'Montero,' went to No. 2 on the Billboard album chart and was nominated for a Grammy for album of the year.

Ava Max Addresses Longtime Lady Gaga Comparisons in New Leaked Song Lyrics

The "Sweet But Psycho" singer's new album 'Don't Click Play' is due out on Friday, Aug. 22 NEED TO KNOW Ava Max addresses being compared to Lady Gaga in a leaked snippet from her new album The "Sweet But Psycho" singer name dropped one of the 14-time Grammy winner's earlier tracks, "Poker Face" Don't Click Play is available to stream on Friday, Aug. 22 Ava Max is addressing those Lady Gaga comparisons in her new album. In a snippet leaked online earlier this week of Max's new album's title track "Don't Click Play," Max, 31, appears to reference Gaga, 39, and how she has been compared to the 14-time Grammy winner. "She samples, singing Gaga imitations/Can't kings and queens look good with poker faces?" Max sings in the leaked clip, referring to her song "Kings and Queens" and Gaga's "Poker Face," respectively. "But I'm loving myself even if you hate it." Other tracks on Max's upcoming album include her already-released singles "Lovin Myself," "Lost Your Faith" and "Wet Hot American Summer. "How Can I Dance," "Take My Call," "Skin in the Game," and 'World's Smallest Violin" are also featured on the new record. Max, whose real name is Amanda Ava Koci, spoke about online commentary in the past. Although it was "kind of mean," she found the Gaga comparisons complementary. "No matter how many haters there are out there, or people who want to bring you down — or people who think I'm a Lady Gaga comparison, which is huuuh-larious," she told NYLON in 2023. "Who doesn't love Gaga?! I can't help that I look like this. I was born the way I was born too! I can't help that I'm 5-foot-2 as well," she continued, also noting that comparisons to other pop stars didn't stop when she changed the color of her hair. "Like what do they want me to do, dye my hair black?! I did that, and then they started comparing me to Dua [Lipa]! You can't win." In May, Max spoke to PEOPLE about how she found inspiration for Don't Click Play — or, rather, where she didn't. "I become a hermit, to be honest, when I'm making music," she explained. "I try not to let too many things influence me because I want it to come from my heart, and I want it to come from the inside of my brain where it's just, 'Who am I at the end of the day?' I don't want to get too influenced." "The thing is, I'm going back to my roots on this album," she continued. "I feel like there's a lot of Kings & Queens feeling songs on the album. It's almost like going back to how I started and my love for pop music, really." The PEOPLE Puzzler crossword is here! How quickly can you solve it? Play now! Max said she let online comments get to her in the past two years, and "changed who I was for other people." "I took away the Max Cut essentially because people in the industry didn't like it," she said. Since the people she had been working with didn't like it, she removed it. "Then, I realized that it was 1% of the population that didn't like it, and I loved it. I was like, 'Wait. The masses love it, and it doesn't make any sense for me to get rid of something when I feel so strongly about it.' " The "Sweet But Psycho" singer also teased what fans can expect on her latest record. "There's definitely going to be remixes," Max said when asked about possible collaborations. "There's going to be some collaborations. Can't say much right now. I can't give you all the surprises." Max previously released Heaven & Hell and Diamonds & Dancefloors in 2020 and 2023, respectively. Don't Click Play will be available to stream on Friday, Aug. 22. Read the original article on People
