Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev reaffirmed on Tuesday the shared commitment to diversifying the bilateral strategic partnership through investment in mutually beneficial avenues, said a news release issued from the Prime Minister's Office.
Shehbaz met with President Aliyev in the city of Lachin for talks on "the full spectrum of bilateral relations". During the meeting, both sides underscored the importance of coordinated efforts for regional stability and reiterated their principled positions on key international issues.
The talks on Azerbaijan's Independence Day and on the eve of a trilateral summit of Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Turkiye, added a symbolic dimension to the exchange between the two leaders. Shehbaz felicitated President Aliyev on this important national occasion.
The prime minister thanked Azerbaijan for its steadfast support during the recent Pakistan-India confrontation and acknowledged the public expressions of solidarity from both the leadership and the people of brotherly Azerbaijan.
Shehbaz noted that the people of Azerbaijan celebrated the success of Pakistan in Maarka-e-Haq. He added that both the countries had stood by each other on every occasion and would continue to do so, the news release stated.
"The two leaders reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction over the upward trajectory of political, economic, defence, and cultural cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan," read the news release.

The prime minister noted that holding the bilateral meeting in Lachin, a city that reflects Azerbaijan's journey of resilience and restoration, carried deep symbolic and emotional significance for both sides, according to the news release.
The meeting concluded with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to deepening the Pakistan-Azerbaijan partnership and working closely to further advance their shared objectives at the bilateral and regional levels.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarrar and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi were also present on the occasion.

Issues of Balochistan to be resolved amicably: PM Shehbaz

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said the issues faced by the people of Balochistan would be resolved amicably and funds would be made available for the development and progress of the largest province. Addressing a grand jirga of Balochistan, he said the four provinces were like brothers and would equally share resources of the country. The federal government was spending Rs70 billion on the solarisation project in Balochistan, he said, adding Rs150 billion would be diverted for the building of highway N25 in Balochistan. India has intensified 'terrorism campaign' inside Pakistan through proxies, says PM Shehbaz The funds would be acquired from the amount, which the government was collecting after the lowering down of prices of petroleum products in the international market. The prime minister said the government would allocate Rs1,000 billion for the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) this year and 25% or Rs250 billion from the fund would be for projects in Balochistan. From Standoff to Setback: Modi's Policies and India's Diplomatic Challenges

Modi says water once flowing out of India will now be retained and used domestically for India's interests. PHOTO: FILE Post Pak-India clashes scenario has once again established the fact that non resolution of Kashmir, water and terrorism issues would continue to hinder peace in the South Asian Region. Besides reestablishing Pakistan's conventional deterrence Pak-India standoff helped in revival of the Kashmir issue on the international stage, which served as a blow to India's diplomatic standing. Narendra Modi's wrong policies have not only led to disappointment for India diplomatically, moreover, his policy of bilateralism on Kashmir has suffered a significant setback. The Pakistan-China Institute (PCI) in its report titled 'Sixteen hours that reshaped South Asia' has termed Modi's flawed policies the main reason of severe blow to India's interests since India's defeat in 1962 war against China. Human history is replete with wounds inflicted by humans on other humans, but it is also true that societies, as they traverse the stages of cultural evolution, gradually begin to shed their animalistic tendencies. However, our misfortune is that we have a nation living in our neighborhood that still adheres to the philosophy of Machiavellian deceit and barbarism, as embodied by its political deity Chanakya, and its foreign policy is founded on the same philosophy. However, there is another side to the picture. The law of nature dictates that anything built on deceitful thinking will eventually decline. Not long ago, India had complete influence over all the small countries in the region, including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and Nepal, and its voice was paramount in these countries. But when India's true face was exposed, the world witnessed how India's puppet regime, in the form of Sheikh Hasina Wajed, met its ignominious end. To harm Pakistan's existence, India invested heavily in Afghanistan, establishing centers of terrorism and using its proxies to target CPEC, in an attempt to deprive the region of developmental progress. India is also working on a plan to eliminate China's presence in Pakistan and the Arabian Sea region. Despite India's continuous efforts to create differences between Pakistan and Afghanistan, recent diplomatic developments have strengthened ties between the two brotherly nations. China, emerging as a reliable regional partner, has further reinforced this trilateral alliance with a commitment to economic cooperation and mutual security. Afghanistan's formal inclusion in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) marks a new era, which has thwarted India's destructive designs. India's fabricated narratives have failed to isolate Pakistan, which has consistently demonstrated responsibility, restraint, and patience, as evident in the recent India-Pakistan conflict. While India continues to engage in provocations, Pakistan has shown utmost responsibility. In contrast, the region, home to two billion people, might become a victim of Modi's political vendetta and obsession – this is not leadership but preparation for collective destruction.

India has intensified ‘terrorism campaign' inside Pakistan through proxies, says PM Shehbaz

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said India had intensified 'terrorism campaign' in Pakistan through its proxies after having suffered a 'humiliating defeat' in recent conflict with Pakistan, according a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The premier's statement came as he visited Command & Staff College Quetta and addressed the faculty and graduating officers. Pakistan will not allow India to cross Indus Waters Treaty red line: PM Shehbaz 'India after having suffered a humiliating defeat during Ma'rka-e-Haq has now intensified its campaign of terrorism inside Pakistan through its proxies,' PM Shehbaz was quoted as saying in the ISPR statement. The prime minister resolved that all such 'nefarious and ill designs of India and its proxy Fitna al Hindustan' would be defeated by Pakistan. He commended the performance of the Pakistan Armed Forces during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos against India. 'The prime minister praised the bravery, professionalism, and sacrifice of the Armed Forces, saying that their exemplary conduct has earned the nation's highest accolades,' ISPR said. He highlighted the importance of the armed forces in safeguarding the country's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security, while reaffirming the government's commitment to supporting the armed forces in their mission to protect the nation. Earlier on arrival at Command & Staff College, PM Shehbaz was received by the Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M). Pakistan shot down six Indian jets, not five: PM Shehbaz The heaviest fighting in decades between Pakistan and India was sparked by an April 22 attack in the Indian Illegally Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) that killed 26 people, most of them tourists. New Delhi blamed the incident on 'terrorists' backed by Pakistan, a charge denied by Islamabad. On May 7, Indian jets bombed what New Delhi claimed 'terrorist infrastructure' sites across the border. Pakistan has said it downed six Indian planes, including at least three Rafale fighters, in the initial clashes. The ceasefire was announced on May 10 after bitter fighting in which both sides used fighter jets, missiles, drones and artillery.
