Nepalese President receives credentials of Jordan's Ambassador
Ammon News - Nepalese President Ram Chandra Poudel received on Monday the credentials of Yousef Abdul Ghani as Jordan's accredited and non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Nepal, during a formal ceremony held at the Presidential Residence in Kathmandu.
Ambassador Abdul Ghani conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah II to President Paudel, along with his wishes for continued progress and prosperity for the Nepalese people.
For his part, President Poudel asked that his greetings and appreciation be conveyed to His Majesty King Abdullah II. He praised the King's leadership and the strong relations between the two countries, expressing Nepal's interest in enhancing bilateral cooperation across various fields. He added that the Chamber is prepared to support Moroccan companies seeking entry into the Jordanian market and encouraged joint private-sector participation in reconstruction projects in Syria. He also described Morocco as a key gateway for Jordanian companies seeking access to African markets. Al-Haj Tawfiq stressed the importance of streamlined visa procedures and closer cooperation with the Moroccan Embassy to facilitate business travel and joint trade events. Ambassador Akhrif acknowledged the strength of political ties between Jordan and Morocco but noted that economic relations remain underdeveloped by comparison. He urged both sides to intensify efforts to realize their economic potential, citing Morocco's ongoing development across sectors. He proposed holding a business forum in Morocco to bring together companies from both countries, focusing on promising sectors that could support trade and investment partnerships. Akhrif also highlighted Morocco's investment opportunities and encouraged Jordanian businesses to leverage existing bilateral agreements and participate in trade missions. Chamber board members emphasized the need to implement and update bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding, noting that deeper cooperation could lead to expanded trade, greater diversification of exchanged goods, and stronger collaboration in tourism, transportation, and logistics. They welcomed the planned resumption of direct flights between the two countries later this year, which they said would improve business mobility. However, they noted that the current sea freight route is inefficient due to its length and called for the development of faster, more reliable transport links.

He commended the nation for overcoming numerous challenges and for its confident and optimistic pursuit of development and modernization. He highlighted the alignment of both nations on several regional and international issues, particularly their shared support for a just, two-state solution to the Palestinian cause and their cooperation in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza. Ambassador Chen noted the significant growth in economic partnership, pointing out that bilateral trade soared to $537 million in 2024, marking a 21% year-on-year increase from $360 million in 2020. He cited major projects, including a "Belt and Road" initiative memorandum signed this year, Chinese firms becoming the largest shareholder in the Arab Potash Company boosting its output and contributing to China's food security and extensive investments in Jordan's solar and wind energy sectors, which have created numerous jobs and supported the Kingdom's green transition. Cultural and educational ties have also flourished. "Chinese troupes have participated in the Jerash Festival for consecutive years, and events like 'Tea for Harmony,' food festivals, and anime screenings have been widely embraced by our Jordanian friends," Chen said. He added that approximately 600 Jordanians are studying Chinese, while 500 Chinese students are studying Arabic in Jordan, and the embassy provided training in China for nearly 600 Jordanians last year.
