Talbot Green shooting: man arrested after woman dies in south Wales town

A man has been arrested after a 40-year-old woman who was shot dead in Talbot Green, about 15 miles west of Cardiff.
The woman was found with serious injuries in the Green Park area of the Welsh town just after 6pm on Sunday and could not be saved by emergency services, south Wales police said.
A 42-year-old man from Talbot Green was taken into custody, police said. Several crime scenes were set up in the area by investigating police and roads were closed.
Det Ch Insp James Morris said: 'I understand the concern this will cause the local community, and I want to reassure people that a team of experienced detectives are already working at pace to piece together the events of last night.'
Rhondda Cynon Taf (RCT) county borough councillor Sarah Jane Davies called online for residents to 'stay vigilant' and thanked them for cooperating.

Man arrested after shots fired in Maesteg

Police have launched an investigation following reports of shots being fired in a Welsh town. Officers from South Wales Police were called to Maesteg town centre at 8.40pm on Saturday evening (June 14) after receiving reports of shots being fired in the vicinity of Bridge Street. There was a large police presence in the town as multiple units were sent to the scene. A 44-year-old man was later arrested for being drunk and disorderly and obstructing police. The force said a Taser was deployed prior to his arrest. An air weapon was also found in nearby undergrowth and was seized by officers. A spokesperson for South Wales Police confirmed an investigation into the incident was ongoing. They added that a "number of people" were in the area at the time of the incident and called for anyone with information to come forward by contacting 101, giving reference 2500187991
