Dentistry convoy treats Palestinians at Sinai hospitals
A medical convoy specialised in dentistry has been in three North Sinai hospitals for two days to diagnose and treat Palestinians in need of dental care, the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced.
Top notch highly skilled dentists participated in the convoy which included one Egyptian dentist who works in the US. Over two days, the medical team has seen 154 cases in the Sheikh Zuweid Central Hospital, Arish General Hospital, and Bir al-Abd Hospital.
According to Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, patients were examined and diagnosed, and treatments offered included gum treatment, filling, normal and surgical extraction, and drug therapy.
President Sisi had given specific directives that injured Palestinians should be provided with fully adequate health support.
Once the injured cross into Egypt, they undergo quick preliminary medical assessment in mobile clinics equipped with laboratories; and X-ray, ultrasound and radiology devices. They are then moved, according to their health condition, to specialised hospitals.

Egypt completes pre-marriage, mothers, newborns medical screening for 7 mln Egyptians - Health
The Ministry of Health announced that almost seven million Egyptians have undergone medical examinations as part of the Pre-Marriage Health Screening and Caring for the Health of Mothers and Newborns initiatives, which are part of the bigger 100 Million Healthy Lives initiative. In two separate statements, the ministry confirmed that 3.6 million young men and women have benefited from medical screening since it started in February 2023 as part of the president's initiative for Pre-Marriage Health Screening. The statements added that certified and secured health certificates with a QR code were issued for those about to get married, with a validity of six months. "The tests should be done at least 14 days before the wedding to allow time for receiving the results and the health certificate," according to Dr. Hossam Abdel-Ghaffar, the ministry's official spokesperson. In another statement, the ministry said 3.251 million women have been screened since March 2020 as part of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's initiative, Caring for the Health of Mothers and Newborns. Abdel-Ghaffar noted that the initiative aims to detect diseases transmitted from mother to fetus early and provide free treatment and healthcare. He said it also focuses on the early detection of hepatitis B, HIV (the virus that causes AIDS), and syphilis in pregnant women. The statement explained that the medical teams follow up on the health of the mother and newborn for 42 days after childbirth to identify any risk factors and take appropriate actions. The initiative also provides the necessary micronutrients during the postpartum period. Furthermore, the statement emphasized that all tests are confidential and accurate and use diagnostic reagents that meet international quality standards. This also included providing counseling for disease prevention, with the woman's informed consent and willingness to participate as a requirement. The initiative is ongoing and integrated into the services of health units and maternal and child care centres as part of efforts to enhance the quality of routine maternal and child healthcare services. These efforts have aimed to raise public awareness about the importance of adopting healthy lifestyles, avoiding risk factors that lead to non-communicable diseases, early detection, and ensuring follow-up care in case a disease is detected to prevent complications. They also focus on educating the public and reducing the causes of infectious disease transmission. The 100 Million Health initiative includes a wide range of services, such as efforts to reduce the spread of genetic diseases in newborns and mental health support services for specific groups in society, including those preparing for marriage and the elderly. Death toll in Gaza rises to 54,927 martyrs since beginning of war
CAIRO – 9 June 2025: The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that the death toll from the Israeli aggression has risen to 54,927 martyrs and 126,615 wounded since October 2023. The Ministry of Health also stated that 47 people were killed and 388 wounded as a result of Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip within the past 24 hours. On Friday, 42 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on several areas in the Gaza Strip according to Palestinian media reports. An Israeli fighter jet struck a five-story residential building in Jabalia, northern Gaza, resulting in the deaths of three Palestinians and injuries to dozens more. According to medical sources, three Palestinians were also killed and others wounded after an Israeli combat drone targeted a charging point for cell phones between tents sheltering displaced people to the west of Khan Younis, WAFA reported. A child was also shot dead by Israeli troops near the Al-Saraya detention area in Khan Younis. Another civilian succumbed to injuries sustained in a previous Israeli strike on the city. Israeli strikes have also killed one Palestinian in the town of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Yunis. In addition, eight Palestinians were killed and 61 injured in renewed massacres in Rafah City in the southern Gaza Strip on Friday. The victims were targeted while trying to reach recently established humanitarian aid sites in western Rafah on the first day of Eid Al Adha.

More than 3 million women examined as part of ‘Maternal and Fetal Health Care' initiative
CAIRO – 9 June 2025: Egypt's Ministry of Health and Population announced that 3,251,000 women have been screened as part of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's 'Maternal and Fetal Health Care' initiative since its launch. The initiative is part of the presidential public health initiatives, under the slogan '100 Million Healthy Lives.' The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, indicated that the initiative aims to detect early infections transmitted from mother to fetus and provide free treatment and healthcare. It also aims to detect early infections with hepatitis B and HIV. Dr. Fawzy Fathy, the initiative's executive director, said that the initiative's teams monitor the mother and newborn for 42 days after the end of pregnancy to identify risk factors for the mother or newborn and take appropriate measures. He emphasized that the initiative guarantees the confidentiality of tests and the accuracy of the examinations. It also includes advice on disease prevention, and requires the woman's consent and acceptance of the service. He stressed that the initiative is sustainable, within the services of health units and maternity and childhood centers, as part of the activation and improvement of the quality of routine services provided by maternity and childhood care.
