Nancy Pexton, also 69, has been charged with murdering Jennifer Abbott, also known as Sarah Steinberg, who was found dead at her flat in Camden last Friday (June 13), the Metropolitan Police said.
Ms Abbott was found by her niece and neighbours, who broke her door down after her family had not heard from her for several days.
A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as sharp force trauma.
Neighbours said they regularly saw Ms Abbott walking her pet corgi in the area with one describing her as 'exuberant' and 'vivacious'.
Scotland Yard previously said officers were investigating whether Ms Abbott's death was linked to a diamond-encrusted Rolex missing from her home.
Pexton is due to appear at Highbury Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Protesters attacked outside Iranian Embassy

Police have arrested six men after protesters were attacked outside the Iranian Embassy in London. Two men have been treated for injuries at the scene and have been taken to hospital, the Metropolitan Police said. The attack comes amid the ongoing Israel-Iran war. Donald Trump, the US president, said that he would decide in the next fortnight whether or not his country would intervene in the conflict. The Iranian flag and posters are in the background outside the embassy, where an earlier protest took place. A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: 'At 09:53hrs on Friday, 20 June, officers responded to reports of an altercation in Prince's Gate, SW1. 'Six men have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm – they remain in police custody. 'Two men were treated for injuries at the scene and have been taken to hospital for further treatment by the London Ambulance Service. 'Police have cordoned off the area while initial investigations take place.'

R&B singer Chris Brown pleads not guility to 'bottle attack' charge

R&B singer Chris Brown has pleaded not guilty to attempting to cause grievous bodily harm in an alleged bottle attack at a London nightclub. The Grammy-winning musician, 36, is accused of attempting to unlawfully and maliciously cause grievous bodily harm with intent to Abraham Diaw at the Tape venue in Hanover Square, Mayfair, on February 19 2023. He appeared alongside his co-defendant, US national Omololu Akinlolu, 38 to enter his plea at the trial preparation hearing. The US singer has continued his international tour, appearing in Cardiff on Thursday night, after he was bailed for a security fee of £5 million. Manchester Magistrates' Court heard last month that Mr Diaw was standing at the bar of the nightclub when he was struck several times with a bottle, and was then pursued to a separate area of the venue where he was punched and kicked repeatedly. Brown was arrested at Manchester's Lowry Hotel at 2am on May 15 this year by detectives from the Metropolitan Police. He is said to have flown into Manchester Airport on a private jet in preparation for the UK tour dates. He was released from HMP Forest Bank in Salford, Greater Manchester, on May 21. Shortly after being released from prison, the musician posted an Instagram story referencing his upcoming tour. It said: 'FROM THE CAGE TO THE STAGE!!! BREEZYBOWL.'
