Cuomo, a heavy favorite until recent weeks, polled at 36.4%, and conceded on Tuesday night. 'Tonight is his night. He deserved it. He won,' Cuomo said, adding that Mamdani had run a 'really smart and good and impactful campaign'. The result thus sets up the 33-year-old to win the party's nomination in the heavily Democratic city. On Tuesday, voters registered with New York City's Democratic Party voted to select the party's candidate for mayoral elections later this year.
