UP Woman Dies After Hubby Asks For Divorce, Writes Suicide Note On Hand: ‘Forced To Abort...'
Last Updated: Manisha's in-laws insulted her family in public after they failed to give a Thar and money, despite already gifting a Bullet motorcycle as dowry after marriage. A young woman named Manisha at the Rathonda village in Baghpet district, Uttar Pradesh, committed suicide after facing constant dowry pressure and mental torture. The 28 years old had returned to her mother's home due to stress for many months. She married Kundan from Siddhipur village in Ghaziabad in 2023, but soon after getting married, her in-laws demanded more dowry items and caused her pain. Reports also allegedly mentioned that her suffering grew worse when her in-laws mistreated her by physically abusing and forcing her to abort her pregnancy. Before ending her life, Manisha wrote a note on her body to express the pain she was going through. As per Amar Ujwala, SP Suraj Kumar Rai said, 'In the case of Manisha's death, a case will be filed on the basis of a complaint from the family. A suicide note was written on Manisha's body and she has written extensively about the harassment by her in-laws." Tejveer, the father of Manisha and an MCD employee in Ghaziabad, shared that trouble began just five months after her wedding. According to him, Kundan and his family started asking for Thar and a large amount of money, even though the family had already given a Bullet motorcycle as dowry during the marriage. When her family couldn't fulfil their demands, things got worse. Manisha, in the note she left behind, mentioned that not only she was pressured, but she and her family were also insulted in front of others. Tejveer even managed to convince Kundan to give a divorce to his daughter. Due to this, relatives from Kundan's side came to their house and both families decided that the wedding items and expenses would be returned. But when it was time to complete the legal process, Manisha refused to sign the divorce papers until everything was handed back. The delay and pressure made things harder for her. She felt trapped and was under major stress. Late at night, while everyone in the house was asleep, Manisha made the painful decision to end her life by consuming pesticide. When her mother went to wake her up in the morning, she found her daughter lifeless. The shocking scene left the family in complete disbelief. Her father, who works in Ghaziabad, was immediately informed and he contacted the police. The authorities have taken the body for post mortem and investigation is in progress. view comments First Published: July 17, 2025, 09:03 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
