Spain to See Slowest Quarterly Growth in Two Years, Central Bank Forecasts
Spain's economy will grow at the slowest pace in almost two years this quarter, according to new forecasts from the central bank.
Gross domestic product will rise by 0.5%-0.6%, the Bank of Spain said Tuesday. While still 'relatively high,' it could point to the start of a slowdown, it said. GDP increased by the upper end of that range in the first three months — the smallest advance since 2023.

The central bank now sees the euro area's second-largest economy expanding 0.6% this year and 1% in 2026, while in March it forecast 0.7% and 1.2%. It also trimmed its 2027 prediction by 0.1 point to 1.2%.

UK Goods Exports to US Fall Most on Record as Trump Tariffs Hit
Britain's goods exports to the US fell in April by the largest amount for any month since records began in 1997 after President Donald Trump launched his global trade war. Goods shipments to the US including precious metals fell by £2 billion ($2.7 billion) from March, which the Office for National Statistics said was 'likely linked to the implementation of tariffs on goods imported to the United States.' It left sales to the US at £4.1 billion, the lowest since February 2022.
