A Rockies-Mets Friday night ticket proved to be worth showing up for — especially if one was there to see the Mets' $765 million man.
In the bottom of the third inning, as the Mets led 1-0, Juan Soto finally broke his cold streak, at least in one at-bat.
On a 2-2 pitch from Colorado lefty Kyle Freeland, Soto laced a ball 112.8 mph to right-center field, earning himself an RBI double after knocking in Francisco Lindor, who had singled.
The hit snapped an 0-for-17 skid.
Soto quietly celebrated standing on second base, clapping and pointing to the sky as the Citi Field crowd went wild for the star, who they have been patiently waiting to get into his groove since moving from The Bronx to Queens.

He followed that double up with a leadoff single to center in the sixth.
In the last seven games before Friday night, Soto was 2-for-27.
Through his first 55 games with the Yankees more than a year ago, Soto was batting .310 with 14 home runs.

Mets blast 3 home runs in win over lowly Rockies, take over 1st place in NL East

Francisco Lindor once again homered in a victory and Clay Holmes threw a career-high seven innings Sunday as the New York Mets completed a three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies with a 5-3 win. Pete Alonso hit a three-run shot and Juan Soto also went deep as the Mets won for the seventh time in eight games to finish a 7-2 homestand. They regained sole possession of first place in the NL East, moving a game ahead of Philadelphia. The Rockies lost their eighth straight and fell to 9-50, the worst record through 59 games of any major league team in the modern era (since 1901). They have been swept 10 times in 20 series -- tied for the most sweeps through 20 series with the 1962 Mets, the 1970 Milwaukee Brewers and the 1994 Oakland Athletics. Alonso homered in the fourth before Lindor snapped a 3-all tie an inning later. The Mets have won the last 26 games in which Lindor has homered, the second-longest streak in big league history behind the 29-game run authored by Carl Furillo and the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1951-53. Soto connected in the eighth to make it 5-3. Holmes (5-3) gave up three hits, including Orlando Arcia's first-inning solo homer and Tyler Freeman's two-run shot in the fifth. He struck out three and walked none. The right-hander, who entered this season with 300 consecutive relief appearances dating to 2019, has lasted at least six innings in six of his last eight starts. Reed Garrett and Edwin Díaz tossed a scoreless inning apiece, with Díaz earning his 13th save. Rockies rookie Carson Palmquist (0-3) gave up four runs in 4 2/3 innings but struck out eight -- two more than he'd fanned in his first three starts combined. KEY MOMENT Lindor's homer came just after Freeman's tying shot in the fifth. KEY STAT The Rockies haven't held a lead at the end of consecutive innings since they led for the final four innings of their most recent win, a 3-2 victory over the New York Yankees on May 23. UP NEXT Rockies RHP Germán Márquez (1-7, 7.13 ERA) starts Monday in Miami against RHP Max Meyer (3-4, 4.53). Mets RHP Paul Blackburn is scheduled to make his season debut Monday night at Dodger Stadium in the opener of a four-game series. Blackburn has been rehabbing from right knee inflammation.

Mets Turn Heads with Major Francisco Lindor Announcement

Mets Turn Heads with Major Francisco Lindor Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New York Mets are off to a strong start in the 2025 season. Heading into Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies, they were tied with the Philadelphia Phillies atop the National League East. The Mets had already taken the first two games of the three-game series by a combined score of 12-4. Advertisement A big reason for their hot start has been the offense, and Francisco Lindor has been right in the middle of it. In the fifth inning of Sunday's game, Lindor launched a solo home run to give the Mets a 4-3 lead. It was his 13th homer of the season, but it also carried historic weight for his career. Shortly after the blast, the Mets shared a milestone on social media: "With his 5th inning home run, Francisco Lindor is now 4th all-time in home runs by a Shortstop!" The stat got fans buzzing: "Better than jeter," posted this fan. A similiar response: "That officially makes him the best SS in the history of New York. I don't make the rules." Advertisement This poster likes what he sees: "HOF." "Lindor is better than Jeter," another fan responds. "Best SS in the last 25yrs HOF Met," said here. "Erasing A Rod history." says this fan. New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor (12).© Isaiah J. Downing-Imagn Images Lindor's accomplishment puts him within 10 home runs of Hanley Ramirez for third all-time among shortstops. He also has a chance to catch Miguel Tejada in second. The top spot is still 170 home runs away, but at Lindor's pace, and age at 31, even that doesn't feel out of reach. Since joining the Mets in 2021, Lindor has been a cornerstone of the franchise. He debuted in 2015 with the Cleveland Indians and has since earned four All-Star selections, won two Gold Gloves and taken home four Silver Slugger awards. He also helped Puerto Rico win a silver medal in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. Advertisement On the mound, the Mets have been just as impressive. Heading into Sunday, New York's pitching staff was allowing only 3.3 total runs per game — the lowest in Major League Baseball. After wrapping up the Rockies series, the Mets head west for a four-game series in Los Angeles against the Dodgers. Then they'll travel to Denver for a three-game rematch with Colorado.
