State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation ( ONGC ) has made promising offshore oil and gas discoveries in the Mumbai Offshore basin that could help augment production in the near future. The discoveries have been made in blocks awarded under the Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP) regime, the state-owned firm said in its fourth-quarter earnings statement. The discoveries, which have been named Suryamani and Vajramani, were made in OALP-VI block MB-OSHP-2020/2 and OALP-III block MB-OSHP- 2018/1, both in the offshore Mumbai basin.Exploratory well MBS202HAA-1 on Block MB-OSHP-2020/2 flowed 2,235 barrels per day of oil and 45,181 million cubic metres a day of gas during testing done in the January-March quarter."This is the first discovery in Basal Clastics in OALP Block MB-OSHP-2020/2. The success in well MBS202HAA-1 was notified as New Prospect Discovery and rechristened as 'Suryamani'," ONGC said.Subsequently, during the current quarter, a second zone was tested on the same well, which flowed 413 barrels per day of oil and 15,132 cubic metres a day of gas."This hydrocarbon success in Mukta Formation was encountered for the first time in OALP Block MB-OSHP-2020/2 and was notified as New Pool Discovery of Suryamani prospect."Exploratory well MBS181HNA-1 in OALP-III Block MB-OSHP-2018/1 Mumbai flowed 2,122 barrels of oil per day and 83,120 cubic metres of gas a day during testing."This discovery is an independent fault bounded nosal feature and lies in the western part of the block MB-OSHP-2018/1. The success in well MBS181HNA-1 was notified as New Prospect Discovery named as 'Vajramani'," ONGC said.Mumbai offshore is home to India's biggest oil and gas fields. Mumbai High, located 160 km off the west coast of India in the Arabian Sea, is the nation's largest and most prolific offshore oil and gas field. The field produces about 1,34,000 barrels per day (bpd), accounting for 35 per cent of India's domestic oil production. The field also produces around 10 million standard cubic metres per day (mmscmd) of gas, representing about 18 per cent of the country's gas output.Mumbai Offshore is also home to the giant Bassein and Satellite gas fields and other significant fields like Heera and Neelam, and Panna-Mukta.India imports more than 85 per cent of its oil needs and about half of its natural gas requirement. The new discoveries will help augment domestic production, although ONGC gave no timelines for developing the new finds or the production potential.Besides Mumbai offshore, ONGC also made a discovery in the KG basin on land block during the January-March quarter.Exploratory well Yandapalli-1 drilled down to the depth of 3,958 metres in Malleswaram PML in the onland sector of KG Basin found oil and gas reserves, ONGC said."This hydrocarbon success of well Yandapalli-1 was notified as New Prospect discovery," it added.

Himachal CM Sukhu inaugurates Rs 75.10 crore development projects in Gagret, criticizes BJP for financial distress
Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], June 7 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for development projects worth Rs 75.10 crore in the Gagret Assembly Constituency while launching a sharp critique against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for pushing the state into financial distress through mismanagement and excessive borrowing during its previous regime, as per an official release. Addressing a public meeting at Daulatpur Chowk in Una district, Sukhu announced initiatives like a 400-metre span bridge on the Swan River, water supply schemes, and healthcare improvements, alongside his government's commitment to economic recovery through tough decisions, as the state aims to become self-reliant amidst ongoing challenges. Sukhu stated that during its regime, the BJP kept on boasting about the 'double engine Sarkar' but could not significantly contribute to the development of the state and raised loans from the Centre, thus pushing the state into a financial crisis. He stated that to make Himachal Pradesh self-reliant, the government was determined to take some harsh decisions to improve the economy with the cooperation of the people of the State. Sukhu highlighted projects like the Daulatpur-Bhadrakali road, in which Rs 15 crore had been spent; Gagret Hospital's new building; and the upcoming Hoshiarpur-Nadaun four-lane road, while assuring the filling of vacant doctor posts and addressing water scarcity through tube wells. The Himachal Pradesh CM also mentioned the Bulk Drug Park in Haroli, set to begin construction soon. He further criticised the BJP's education policies for dropping Himachal's ranking to 21st, leading to school mergers for quality education. As per the release, the other development initiatives include a Rs 42.82 crore bridge on the Amb-Ambota road, four bridges under PMGSY-III costing Rs 2.70 crore, and infrastructure projects like the Government Degree College Daulatpur Chowk building at Rs 2.79 crore and water schemes totalling Rs 16.57 crore across multiple villages. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri also noted a Rs 170 crore investment in Gagret's water schemes, criticising the Centre for sanctioning only Rs 137 crore of the expected Rs 2,000 crore, and affirmed the state's advocacy for its due funds. The Chief Minister said that Una has emerged as the fastest-growing district in the state and is being developed as a 'Solar Hub' of the state, with 163 MW projects under construction and promising job creation and industrial growth. US' G-III Apparel holds FY26 sales forecast, posts higher Q1 earnings
American clothing company G-III Apparel Group has reaffirmed its net sales outlook for fiscal 2026 (FY26) at approximately $3.14 billion, slightly below the $3.18 billion recorded in fiscal 2025. However, it has withdrawn its net income, non-GAAP income, and adjusted EBITDA guidance issued in March due to uncertainty surrounding tariffs and broader macroeconomic conditions. As of June 5, 2025, current tariff rates are expected to add around $135 million in unmitigated costs, largely in the second half of the year. The company aims to offset these impacts through diversified sourcing, selective pricing adjustments, and cost-saving measures, it said in its financial statement. G-III Apparel Group has reaffirmed its FY26 net sales outlook at $3.14 billion but withdrawn earnings guidance due to tariff-related uncertainty, which may add $135 million in costs. Q1 FY26 sales dipped 4 per cent, but net income rose to $7.8 million. Q2 sales are projected to decline year-on-year. The company cut debt by 96 per cent and repurchased $19.7 million in shares. For the second quarter (Q2) ending July 31, 2025, net sales are projected at $570 million, down from $644.8 million year-on-year, impacted by supply chain disruptions and timing shifts in key programmes. Gross margin is expected to remain stable. Net income is forecast between $1 million and $6 million, or $0.02–$0.12 per diluted share, sharply down from $24.2 million, or $0.53 per diluted share, in Q2 FY25. For the first quarter (Q1) ended April 30, 2025, G-III Apparel Group has reported a 4 per cent year-on-year decline in net sales to $583.6 million, down from $609.7 million in the same period last year. Despite the revenue drop, net income rose to $7.8 million, or $0.17 per diluted share, compared to $5.8 million, or $0.12 per diluted share, in Q1 FY25. On a non-GAAP basis, net income per diluted share came in at $0.19, excluding $1.0 million in one-time severance expenses related to a closed warehouse. This adjustment accounted for a $0.02 per share impact. There were no non-GAAP adjustments in the prior year's first quarter. As of the end of the quarter, inventories declined 5 per cent to $456.5 million, while total debt was slashed by 96 per cent to $18.7 million from $426.4 million. The sharp reduction followed the company's voluntary redemption in August 2024 of its $400 million senior secured notes, financed through cash reserves and borrowings from its revolving credit facility, the statement added. Additionally, the company repurchased 807,437 shares for $19.7 million during the quarter, underscoring its continued commitment to shareholder returns. Morris Goldfarb, G-III's chairman and chief executive officer , said, 'G-III delivered solid first quarter results, marked by earnings that exceeded the high end of guidance. Our performance was fuelled by double-digit growth of our key owned brands, DKNY, Karl Lagerfeld and Donna Karan, which largely offset the exit of the Calvin Klein jeans and sportswear businesses. These results underscore the strong demand and desirability of our brand portfolio and are a testament to our team's outstanding execution.' Goldfarb concluded, 'We are reaffirming our net sales guidance for fiscal 2026 and working diligently to mitigate the impact of tariffs. Our experienced management team has a proven track record of successfully navigating periods of uncertainty, and we view the ongoing disruptions as an opportunity to strengthen our competitive position and capture incremental market share. As we advance our strategic priorities, we have never been more confident in the global resonance of our brands and the significant growth potential ahead to drive long-term profitability and shareholder value.'
