
Alba holds its Annual and Extraordinary General Meetings for 2025
Manama, Bahrain – Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), the world's largest smelter on one site, held its 15th Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on 12 March 2025 at Al Manama Ballroom at the Four Seasons Hotel, Bahrain Bay. The meeting was led by the Chairman of the Board Khalid Al Rumaihi with attendance from the Board members, Company's Executive Management, Alba shareholders, and representatives from regulatory bodies.
During the AGM meeting, the shareholders approved the appointment of Mrs. Rasha Sabkar as an expert Board member; in addition to ratifying the appointment of Mr. Khaled Rowais and Mr. Ahmed Al Shaikh as Board members. Moreover, minutes of the previous Annual General Meeting held on 07 March 2024 were reviewed and approved. The meeting also discussed and approved the Report of the Board of Directors for the Company's business/activities along with the Financial Statements for the year ended 31 December 2024.
Approvals were given to the distribution of cash dividends to shareholders at Fils 45.17 per share or 45.17 % of the paid-up capital (inclusive of the interim dividend of Fils 18.59 per share which was already distributed to shareholders on 11 September 2024), which is BD63,948,538 for the year ended 31 December 2024, and the transfer of BD120,593,462 to the Retained Earnings.
The discussion also covered the Corporate Governance Report for 2024, and the meeting approved the re-appointment of Ernst & Young as the Company's external auditors for the fiscal year 2025.
On this occasion, the Chairman of Alba's Board of Directors, Khalid Al Rumaihi, said:

During the Extraordinary General Meeting, the minutes of the previous meeting held on 07 March 2024 were reviewed and approved. Approvals were also given to the amendment and restatement of the Memorandum and Articles of Association (Article no. 7) by removing Sabic Industrial Investments Company (Commercial Registration No. 10101812081) and adding Saudi Arabia Mining Company (Ma'aden) (Commercial Registration No. 1010164391) subject to the approval of regulatory authorities.

Sheikh Khaled clears Dhs4.62b housing benefits for 3,052 citizens
Under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in his capacity as Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has approved a housing benefits package worth Dhs4.62 billion, benefiting 3,052 Emirati citizens across the emirate. The approved housing benefits package includes housing loans amounting to Dhs4.4 billion benefiting 2,862 citizens, and exemptions from housing loan repayments totalling Dhs212 million benefiting 190 citizens, limited-income retirees and beneficiaries of deceased citizens. The disbursement of the second housing package of 2025 comes ahead of Eid Al Adha and reflects the leadership's ongoing commitment to comprehensive development, enhancing the well-being and stability of Emirati families, empowering them to actively contribute to the nation's progress, in line with UAE Year of Community objectives aimed at strengthening social cohesion and reinforcing community solidarity. This package brings the total housing benefits delivered to citizens in Abu Dhabi in 2025 to Dhs11.38 billion. Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, said, 'The new housing benefits package reflects the leadership's commitment to empowering citizens through the provision of quality housing that promotes family stability and elevates quality of life. Etihad Airways, STARLUX Airlines sign codeshare partnership deal
Staff Reporter, Gulf Today Etihad Airways has signed a strategic codeshare agreement with Taipei-based STARLUX Airlines, expanding customer access to Northeast Asia and strengthening Abu Dhabi's position as a gateway between East and West. The partnership, announced at the International Air Transport Association Annual General Meeting in New Delhi, enables Etihad customers to connect seamlessly to key Japanese cities including Nagoya, Sapporo, and Fukuoka via Taipei, whilst offering STARLUX passengers direct access to Etihad's European network through Abu Dhabi. Etihad will launch daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Taipei on 7 September 2025, operated by Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The new route creates the foundation for the codeshare partnership, positioning Taipei as a gateway for Etihad's expansion into Northeast Asia. Etihad customers booking through and the airline's mobile app will benefit from streamlined travel with single-ticket bookings, coordinated check-in processes, and automatic baggage transfers to final destinations across STARLUX's Asia-Pacific network. The agreement also opens new pathways for STARLUX passengers to reach European destinations including Prague, Madrid, and Barcelona via Abu Dhabi, positioning the emirate as an attractive transit hub for Asian travellers bound for Europe. Both airlines will launch joint marketing initiatives in Taiwan and establish a reciprocal frequent flyer programme by year-end, allowing Etihad Guest members to earn and redeem miles across both networks. Khorfakkan Club hosts lecture on institutional excellence

Chairman's statement In his address during the lecture, His Excellency Abdullah Saleh Al Naqbi expressed deep appreciation for the continued efforts to enhance the working environment at the club.
