Ameresco enters $78m facility to fund battery storage energy asset
Ameresco, a provider of comprehensive energy solutions, has finalised a financial package to support its battery storage asset and future energy infrastructure projects.
The company's subsidiary executed a note purchase agreement and private shelf agreement, highlighting Ameresco's commitment to enhancing energy resilience and advancing sustainable energy solutions.
The initial note purchase agreement allows for the issuance of Series A notes of $78m, earmarked for financing a battery energy storage asset currently under construction.
The financial arrangement with CounterpointeSRE and Barings also includes an expected issuance of a second series of notes
The Series A notes, maturing in 2045, feature a fixed interest rate.
The financial structure then anticipates the potential issuance of Series B notes, subject to lender approval, to fund an additional solar plus battery energy storage project, extending over an additional 20-year term.
Ameresco president and CEO George Sakellaris stated: 'This financial arrangement marks a significant milestone for Ameresco as we continue to lead the way in providing innovative energy solutions.
'We expect that the $300m private shelf facility will allow us to execute multiple transactions, enhancing our ability to deliver energy projects that drive cost savings, resilience and decarbonisation. We are excited about the flexibility this agreement provides, as we expect that it will enable us to accelerate the deployment of resilient energy infrastructure.'
In a move to bolster its project financing capabilities, the Ameresco subsidiary has entered a $300m uncommitted private shelf facility intended for the financing of forthcoming solar and battery energy assets.
Ameresco has also arranged for the transfer of investment tax credits linked to the battery asset, which will be realised once the asset commences commercial operations.
The company anticipates similar agreements for tax credit transfers related to the Series B notes and other future transactions under the private shelf facility.
CounterpointeSRE CEO Eric Alini stated: 'This shelf agreement aligns perfectly with CounterpointeSRE's commitment to support resilient, sustainable infrastructure in a variety of asset classes that drive both environmental and economic benefits.'
Ameresco's Irish subsidiary, Cork Sustainable Energy, recently secured approval from An Bord Pleanála for a significant upgrade to the Kilvinane Wind Farm in Ireland.

Man United came close to signing Evan Ferguson in January
Manchester United launched a 'dramatic late approach' to sign Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson in the January transfer window, according to a report. Ferguson, 20, has endured a frustrating time at the Amex Stadium in recent years after bursting onto the scene as the Seagulls' third youngest debutant ever following his debut against Cardiff City in 2021. He has since gone on to become Brighton and the Republic of Ireland's youngest ever scorer. Advertisement The following season, as a then 18-year-old, Ferguson scored six goals and provided two assists in 19 appearances in the Premier League for Brighton – an impressive return for such a young striker. But the Irish international demonstrated a predatory instinct which belied his years, while retaining a physical frame which made the introduction to men's football a smooth one. United were linked with a move the following summer in 2023 after Old Trafford scouts returned glowing reports on Ferguson. But this interest was never followed up and the Red Devils instead opted to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta in a deal worth £72 million. Ferguson's progress has halted since this point, however. As has the clamour for one of England's big clubs to sign the 20-year-old, though it is natural for a young striker's progress to not be linear. Advertisement In the first half of this season, Ferguson had played only a bit-part role for Brighton under Fabian Hurzeler, making 13 appearances with only one goal. Consequently, in the final week of January, with the winter window drawing to a close, the Seagulls 'made it clear…that their Republic of Ireland international would be available on loan,' according to The 42 – a reputable Irish sports outlet. West Ham emerged as the frontrunners for Ferguson with former Brighton manager Graham Potter, who handed the striker his debut at the Amex Stadium, now in charge of the Hammers. Bayer Leverkusen and Chelsea also expressed interest but it was the East London club who pulled ahead in negotiations, despite Ferguson preferring a move to Stamford Bridge. Advertisement 'Bayer Leverkusen in Germany were understood to be strongly in the frame for Ferguson at this stage but Chelsea remained the preferred destination for the player, right up until the night before he was actually was due for a medical at West Ham,' the report by The 42 details. However, West Ham's pursuit was almost hijacked by United who made 'firm advances' to sign Ferguson that the 20-year-old striker almost rejected the Hammers in favour of a last-gasp switch to Old Trafford. 'When Chelsea pulled out, other clubs are believed to have challenged West Ham even as the medical approached. Fulham wanted to do business, and it can be revealed that Manchester United made such firm advances late in the window to try and bring Ferguson to Old Trafford that he almost reneged on his commitment to West Ham, before ultimately sticking with the Hammers as it was so far down the line.' Ultimately, the Reds' dramatic move proved unsuccessful and the club were unable to sign a new forward for Ruben Amorim despite both Marcus Rashford and Antony leaving on loan. Advertisement United would finish the season in 15th in the league with unceremonious exits from both the FA Cup and, more crucially, the Europa League. It was the club's worst season in the Premier League era and they broke multiple records in terms of points, position, and losses. But it was also the lowest scoring campaign by a United season in the top division's history with just 44 goals across 38 games. Only four teams scored less than Amorim's side – Everton and the three relegated clubs, Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton. The senior striking partnership of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee combined for just seven league goals, despite totalling fees in excess of £100 million across the last two summers. Rashford and Antony scored the same number of league goals for their adopted sides combined across four months of football, comparison. The need for a new forward in January was urgent, and it's an indictment on the current options at Old Trafford that an out-of-form 20-year-old striker for Brighton would still have provided an upgrade on them. The month of June is always one of the biggest in the recruiting calendar but many teams across the Power Four conferences loaded up in one way or another in May. But this is Georgia so there are inevitably going to be many big recruiting wins and five-star quarterback Jared Curtis leads the way. He re-committed to Georgia over Oregon and that was crucial. Athlete Ryan Mosley and offensive lineman Graham Houston are big additions and then four-star defensive back Jordan Smith has star potential. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH GEORGIA FANS AT MIAMI There were only two commitments for Miami in March but there was no bigger pledge in this entire recruiting class than No. 1 overall prospect Jackson Cantwell picking the Hurricanes. Miami beat out Georgia and many others for the five-star offensive tackle and his pledge only further adds to some elite players along the offensive line. Three-star offensive lineman Rhys Woodrow adds depth as the real celebration this month was Cantwell's pledge as Miami ponied up late and landed him. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH MIAMI FANS AT NORTHWESTERN Jeff McCulloch/ Advertisement Northwestern entered May with only two commitments. The Wildcats are leaving the month with nine pledges and have some momentum heading into the summer. There were no four-stars but powerful three-star running back Sean Morris out of Los Angeles Loyola and three-star linebacker Jacob Curry out of Ponte Vedra (Fla.) Nease were two big victories. More could be coming as Northwestern has a strong group of prospects on campus this weekend. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH NORTHWESTERN FANS AT NOTRE DAME The future of Notre Dame's backfield might have been figured out in May as the Irish landed commitments from four-stars Javian Osborne and Jonaz Walton. Those were two top targets and Notre Dame landed both as the Irish have shown over the years they can run the ball with the best of them. Notre Dame also loaded up on the defensive line as well with four-star defensive tackle Tiki Hola out of Texas and four-star edge Ja'Kobe Clapper out of Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier are two other major pickups in May as the Irish have the second-best class nationally. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH NOTRE DAME FANS AT OLE MISS Coach Lane Kiffin and his staff only landed three commitments in May but all three are four-stars and could make an immediate impact in Oxford. Four-star running back Damarius Yates had been committed to Mississippi State so landing him was big. Four-star receiver Corey Barber has had a great offseason, loaded up on offers and is one of the top offensive players in Georgia. And then there is four-star linebacker Izayia Williams, as Ole Miss was his fifth pledge this cycle. Many others are trying to flip him so the Rebels will have some work to keep him until signing day. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OLE MISS FANS AT PENN STATE Will Garlick Advertisement Penn State is up to 17 commitments and the Nittany Lions have the fifth-best class in 2026 as May was really helpful to get there. Landing four-star receiver Davion Brown over Michigan and Georgia was the biggest win of the month but Penn State also did great work in recruiting strongholds Pennsylvania and Virginia. Three-star athlete Jaziel Hart, who picked the Nittany Lions over the Wolverines and many others, could be a sleeper in this group. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH PENN STATE FANS AT SMU SMU tied Northwestern with the most commitments in May with seven as the Mustangs loaded up with quantity but also quality. Two four-star receivers came aboard in Aljour Miles, who had Oklahoma and others high on the list, and Jakai Anderson, who flipped from LSU. Adding massive four-star offensive lineman Pupungatoa Katoa was another major win for coach Rhett Lashlee and his staff. Picking up former Texas A&M commit and three-star defensive back Ryan Gilbert was another major recruiting victory as SMU is coming off a run to the College Football Playoff. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH SMU FANS AT TEXAS Half of Texas' recruiting class committed in May and it was an impressive haul for the Longhorns. Getting four-star defensive back Hayward Howard from New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr away from LSU was important. Essentially flipping high three-star defensive back Yaheim Riley from Houston was crucial since he's an Austin kid. But the biggest commitment of the month came from four-star athlete Jermaine Bishop Jr. since he's such a phenomenal athlete. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH TEXAS FANS AT UCLA UCLA went local, regional and national in the month of May to fill out half its recruiting class. Washington once led for four-star defensive lineman Anthony Jones but the Bruins not only closed the gap but got him to commit. UCLA went to powerhouse Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco for three-star linebacker Matthew Muasau. Massive three-star tight end Camden Jensen from Littleton (Colo.) Heritage picked the Bruins. And then former SMU pledge Yahya Gaad, a three-star defensive end out of tiny Medina (Tenn.) South Gibson jumped on board, too. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH UCLA FANS AT USC USC has 27 commitments, the No. 1 class in the country and maybe no team had a better May than the Trojans. It was capped off by beating Georgia for four-star tight end Mark Bowman from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei. Five-star cornerback Elbert Hill, tops at the position nationally, chose the Trojans over Ohio State and others. Camille Pissarro picture perfect for O'Brien in French Derby
Camille Pissarro won in fine style to give jockey Ryan Moore and trainer Aidan O'Brien their second French Derby (Hugo MATHY) Camille Pissarro justified his favourite's tag to deliver a second French Derby (Prix du Jockey Club) for Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien after winning in impressive style at Chantilly on Sunday. Jockey Ryan Moore had to battle to find room on the inside, but once the Englishman squeezed through a gap between the long time leaders Bowmark and Trinity College he surged clear. Advertisement Cualificar, trained by 79-year-old legend Andre Fabre, finished second with English raider Detain third and the winner's valiant stablemate Trinity College fourth. Camille Pissarro has found France a rich hunting ground, winning a Group One last year and then third in the French 2000 Guineas last time out. Indeed it was thanks to Christophe Soumillon, his jockey in the Guineas, that O'Brien was minded to run him at Chantilly as the Belgium-born ace said he would stay the extra distance. "Yes a great run," said O'Brien, whose previous winner came in 2021 with St Mark's Basilica. Advertisement "It is incredible, I am absolutely delighted as we were worried about the trip. "Christophe was sure he would stay and Ryan gave him a great ride. "I am over the moon," added the 55-year-old Irishman. For Moore, 41, and O'Brien it was their second classic win in France this campaign, having landed the French 2000 Guineas with Henri Matisse last month. "The horse did everything right," said Moore whose previous win in the race came on The Grey Gatsby in 2014. "Aidan had him in a beautiful frame of mind. "I had to wait for a bit of room but once we found it, he had a superb burst of acceleration. Advertisement "I could not be more happy with him." Soumillon despite his perspicacious advice to O'Brien had to give way to Moore for the ride, and was third on Detain.
