The United academy product played his last match for United in a 2-0 win over Aston Villa at Old Trafford last month.

It was thought that he may continue his playing career and was linked to Wrexham AFC but he decided to retire at his boyhood club.
It has also been reported that Evans may have a future role in coaching and his attitude to young players has been praised by both Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim.
The former United defender was honoured in his home city of Belfast yesterday evening for his services to Northern Irish football. He was given a huge portrait of himself in the green and white of his nation's colours.
Speaking to BBC Sport NI before Northern Ireland's 1-0 victory over Iceland, he claimed that he was going to take time before making his next step.

When asked about his future he stated, 'I'm not sure yet'.
He added, 'I'll take a bit of time. I don't feel like I'm in a rush to do anything.'
The former United defender sang the praises of his former international manager Michael O'Neill and claimed, 'when you've got Michael O'Neill in charge, he gives everyone a little bit of hope.'
He also added that the coach has the experience of guiding a team to a major tournament owing to the job he did in Euro 2016 and could well do the same with his current side.
Evans also spoke on the potential of his former international team and claimed, 'I'm excited. Over the next couple of years I think we'll see them progress together.'

The Belfast native made a total of 645 appearances for club and country, scoring 29 times.

Chris Wilder's future as Sheffield United manager in doubt before board meeting

Chris Wilder's future as Sheffield United manager is in doubt, with the club's American owners set to discuss his position at a board meeting. It is thought the recruitment strategy has been a significant factor in pushing Wilder's future towards a crossroads. The US-based consortium COH Sports, led by Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy, completed a takeover last December. Advertisement The 57-year-old, in his second spell in charge of his boyhood club, led United to the Championship playoff final last month, which they lost to Sunderland, after missing out on automatic promotion. United are keen to press ahead with more 'data-driven' recruitment, which includes the use of artificial intelligence. This week United signed the Nigerian winger Ehije Ukaki from the Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv, a move made by the winger Christian Nwachukwu, 19, in January. In the same window United signed Jefferson Cáceres, 22, from the Peruvian club FBC Melgar but neither Nwachukwu nor Caceres has made a first-team appearance. The Blades are one of several Championship clubs searching for a manager, with Middlesbrough, Queens Park Rangers and Bristol City also seeking to fill vacancies. On Wednesday Hull City appointed Sergej Jakirovic as their head coach on a two-year contract, and this month West Brom appointed the former Tottenham coach Ryan Mason on a three-year contract.

Wolves prepared to let Guedes leave this summer

Wolves are willing to let midfielder Goncalo Guedes leave this summer as Vitor Pereira reshapes his squad. The club has already banked over £90m following the sales of Matheus Cunha to Manchester United and Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester City. Advertisement Guedes cost Wolves £27.5m when he joined from from Valencia in 2022 but has made just 18 Premier League starts. He has spent two loan spells at Benfica and also six months at Villarreal in 2024. Guedes, 28, returned to Molineux and 33 of his 51 appearances for the club came last season. "I'm not sure about Goncalo Guedes, because he has a contract with us," boss Vitor Pereira said via Portuguese outlet Record earlier this week. "I like him, but he's been there for a few years and has this ambition to leave." The club has been looking at left-backs and number 10s to replace Ait-Nouri and Cunha - although Hugo Bueno is due to return from his loan spell at Feyenoord to be a contender for the left-back spot. Advertisement Right-back remains a priority with Nelson Semedo out of contract and yet to sign the new deal on offer at Molineux. Wolves are also due to appoint Domenico Teti as part of their internal shake-up. Teti worked with Pereira at Al Shabab and is expected to come in as sporting director after the departure of Matt Hobbs last week.

Cunha completes 'dream' Manchester United move

Matheus Cunha has completed his transfer from Wolverhampton to Manchester United (JUSTIN TALLIS) Manchester United on Thursday confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves on a five-year deal with the option of a further year. The club effectively completed the deal on June 1 after activating a £62.5 million ($85 million) release clause in the 26-year old's contract. Advertisement "It is hard to put into words my feelings about becoming a Manchester United player," said the Brazil international. "Ever since I was a child in Brazil watching Premier League games on TV at my grandmother's house, United was my favourite English team and I dreamed of wearing the red shirt. "I can't wait for the start of pre-season to get to know my teammates and prepare for the season ahead. "All my focus is now on working hard to become a valuable part of the team, and helping get this club back to the top." Cunha became Ruben Amorim's first signing of the summer transfer window as the head coach sets about overhauling his squad after a miserable domestic campaign and a Europa League final defeat to Tottenham. Advertisement The striker helped his country qualify for the World Cup finals on Tuesday when he set up the only goal for Vinicius Junior in a 1-0 win over Paraguay. United's director of football Jason Wilcox added: "Bringing in Matheus was one of our main priorities for this summer, so we are delighted to have completed his signing so early in the window. "He has all the qualities we are looking for as we seek to build a strong, dynamic and entertaining team capable of challenging for the biggest honours." jw/pb
