Content creator Alan McGarry is in a "very good place" since reversing their plastic surgery on a US reality TV show, the influencer has told.
Alan is set to star in Botched Presents: Plastic Surgery Rewind, which follows nine celebrities and influencers as they consider whether to reverse previous plastic surgery work and go back to a more natural look. The show, which streams on Hayu from July 10, also features singer Aubrey O'Day and Kim Zolciak of The Real Housewives of Atlanta fame and is hosted by RuPaul's Drag Race judge, Michelle Visage, and plastic surgeon, Dr Terry Dubrow.
Alan told Ireland AM hosts Alan Hughes and Muireann O'Connell on the Virgin Media breakfast show that they wish they didn't get plastic surgery when they were younger. Alan said: "Alan is in a very good place. I think I'm not as out there and looking for attention, probably for the wrong reasons or whatever.
"I feel really good now I think doing this show, and it sounds very cliche and very cheesy, but it did change my perception of life now, and changed me as a person 100 per cent because I just feel much more confident in myself. Don't get me wrong, I have my days like everybody else, where, you know, you don't feel good, but yeah, I'm feeling much better in myself now."
Speaking about why Alan started getting plastic surgery from as early as 19, the Dubliner said: "I suppose growing up, I was, you know, ginger, I was a bit more chubbier, and people used to pick on me.
"I just wanted to change my appearance. I just wanted to get away from all those kind of bad names. So I started getting into, like, fillers, because lip fillers, back years ago, were a really big thing. The Jenners were doing it, so I think that was an addiction so we all started doing the trend.
"And then, I think I didn't realise when enough was enough so I continued and continued to just enhance my appearance every time I walked into a clinic. But I think I just wanted to fit in. I don't know where I wanted to fit in. I think it was just more so because social media was a really big thing, and I think I just wanted to be a part of that kind of tribe.
"I think it was just when you see something, you get influenced very quickly and I just wanted to enhance something I didn't really have, I suppose, when it got a flat lip, I think, I suppose I wanted to have a bigger lip. I think that's the reason why I started doing it."
Speaking about wanting to go on the US show, Alan said: "It (The show) came at the right time for me. I was kind of like, not understanding why I'm consistently having work done and why I'm having some surgery, and I was approached to go on the show, and I loved the whole concept, because the concept for me was just like, actually, you know what? This couldn't have come at a better time for me.
"To be honest, I didn't even know these types of people were going to be in the house. I didn't even know it was kind of a celebrity show. I just thought it was just normal people, social media people so when I see Michelle Visage as the host, I do scream, because obviously, you know, it's Michelle Visage. She's an icon and amazing.
"These were people that I never thought would even have a conversation with me or have a cup of tea with me. We really had a good time. And I'm in touch with Kim (Zolciak) and Larissa from the show," they added.

Vogue Williams set to take on Olympic boxer for Gladiators special

TV star Vogue Williams is set to compete against Nicola Adams on Celebrity Gladiators. The 39-year-old Dubliner - who won the first series of Bear Grylls: Mission Survive - and the 42-year-old Olympic boxer will battle it out against the famous Gladiators before going head-to-head in the final round of the competition. Vogue has yet to comment on being the new sign-up but the mother-of-three has just returned from her Spanish holiday with husband Spencer Matthews. On the men's side, fitness guru Joe Wicks, 39, and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! former champion Sam Thompson will be taking part. (Image: ITV/REX/Shutterstock) Filming on the show took place on Tuesday for broadcast later this year, and bosses are said to be looking to make the episode more competitive than the previous star-studded special, which featured comedians Rob Beckett, Joel Dommett and Ellie Taylor, and presenter Louise Minchin. A source told The Sun newspaper: "Last year, producers of the debut celebrity version played it for laughs with three comedians taking part — with hilarious results for viewers. "But this year they've assembled four celebrities who can give the Gladiators a serious run for their money, and serve up a clash to savour." Ellie previously admitted she felt like she'd been "hit by a bus" after going up against the elite female Gladiators. She told the Metro newspaper of the experience: "While 'Strictly' was a marathon, 'Gladiators' was like a sprint - a sprint lined with muscly women. "Afterwards I felt like I'd been hit by a bus made of women who love protein powder. They are machines. Just being in the same room as a load of Gladiators when they've had their hair and makeup done and are in their outfits with fake tan … they look like a different breed. It's like popping up and visiting the gods but you're actually in a locker room in Sheffield. "It was really fun, and my little girl was in the audience. It fuelled me on in quite a pathetic way to try to please her. I watched it as a kid - it's proper family viewing." The celebrity special will broadcast ahead of the third season of the rebooted game show, which will be filmed next week and broadcast early next year. Bradley Walsh and his son Barney will return as hosts. Subscribe to our newsletter for the latest news from the Irish Mirror direct to your inbox: Sign up here.
