On top of it all, it's a great alternative to Googling whatever you might need, for it gives crisp and concise information about the topic of your choice. Even then, as is true for all AI agents, it's best to double check every information you're fed by AI chatbots. This one's a niche tool, but it's too good to be missed out on. Primarily for note taking and research work, NotebookLM is a Google product. On NotebookLM, users can create multiple notebooks and even upload documents to be used as source material for analysis. For students and researchers, it can help close gaps by providing unique perspectives and patterns. In a way, it's a great study partner - all on the free plan. It's best feature? Easily the ability to switch between 'Guide' and 'Analyst' modes. An image generation tool, Ideogram stands out among the ocean of AI image creators. Why? It's simply because of its ability to customise and manage a lot of key aspects of your AI-generated images (like the size and ratio) that other services simply do not offer or hide behind a paid subscription. Of course, it's not unlimited. With Ideogram, you get numerous free credits weekly that may be used to generate images without any payments. This one is great if you don't have time to cut the clutter from your note keeping. Whether it's long blogs or your grocery list, this AI does a fantastic job of formatting it all. Simply throw in jumbled information (that would make a human assistant's head spin) to the chatbot and watch the magic happen. The full service is obviously paid and there's a cap on free prompts, so use it wisely and make your next shopping list clutter free. These are just a few examples of AI tools beyond ChatGPT that offer similar functionalities, niche features, and quicker responses. In a strategic move, Google has started a new round of voluntary exit programs, commonly referred to as buyouts. The tech giant is now offering voluntary buyouts to employees in its Core, Search, Ads, and Knowledge & Information (K&I) divisions as part of its ongoing AI-focused restructuring. This move of the company was announcedJune 10, 2025, comes alongside a stricter return-to-office mandate, requiring remote employees near a Google office to adopt a hybrid schedule. Senior Vice President Nick Fox, who leads Google's Knowledge & Information group sent an email to employees explaining the rationale behind the buyout program. He emphasised that the goal is to provide a supportive exit path for those who don't feel aligned with Google's strategy, aren't energised by their work, or are struggling to meet expectations. The voluntary exit program offers a minimum of 14 weeks' salary, plus one additional week for every year of service. Employees in affected divisions have until July 1, 2025, to enroll in the program. I've decided to update our work location policy to be more consistent, so U.S. K&I Googlers who are currently fully remote and live within 50 miles of one of our K&I return sites will transition back to the office. This means they'll align to the 3/2 hybrid schedule that nearly all K&I Googlers are already on. We're working to ensure our offices are ready to support our team as we welcome more Googlers back into the office, and we are offering relocation support if Local Remote K&I Googlers wish to be closer to their return site. Google names insider Kavukcuoglu to lead AI-powered product development
Alphabet 's Google on Wednesday appointed an insider to lead its future AI-powered product development, as AI enters a new phase of mainstream adoption, according to a memo from CEO Sundar Pichai to company leaders seen by Reuters. Koray Kavukcuoglu , chief technology officer of Google's DeepMind AI lab, is taking on the newly created title of chief AI architect. He will also become a new senior vice president, reporting directly to Pichai. Kavukcuoglu, who will move to California from London, will also continue serving as Google DeepMind's CTO, reporting to its CEO Demis Hassabis, Pichai said in the memo. "In this expanded role, Koray will accelerate how we bring our world-leading models into our products, with the goal of more seamless integration, faster iteration, and greater efficiency," Pichai said. Alphabet faces market pressure to demonstrate financial returns on its AI-related capital expenditures, which are expected to hit $75 billion this year, while maintaining its bottom line against the threat of competing AI offerings, as well as antitrust enforcement. Google said it would put artificial intelligence into the hands of more web surfers and teased a $249.99-a-month subscription for its AI power users at its annual I/O conference in May, along with a flurry of demos that included new smart glasses. Pichai said in Wednesday's memo that Alphabet was "entering a new phase of the AI platform shift." He told reporters last month that the rise of generative AI was not at the full expense of online search. Google has since signed a deal to supply computing capacity to its biggest AI rival OpenAI via its cloud service, Reuters exclusively reported on Tuesday, marking a surprising collaboration between two prominent competitors in the AI sector.
