flydubai Launches Pilot Training Programme to Support Growing Fleet Demand

Hi Dubai22-05-2025
flydubai has launched its Ab Initio Pilot Training programme in partnership with international training providers, aiming to develop the next generation of commercial pilots as the airline gears up for significant fleet and network expansion.
The Dubai-based carrier announced the initiative as part of a long-term workforce strategy to support its growing operations. With over 125 Boeing 737 MAX and 30 Boeing 787 aircraft on order, flydubai is investing in talent to meet future demand and maintain operational efficiency.
Open to high school graduates aged 17 and above, the programme offers a structured path from theory to flight readiness over 18 to 24 months. Successful cadets will be trained at the flydubai Flight Training Centre and, upon completion, will qualify to operate as Boeing 737 second officers. 'This programme opens the door to Emirati talent, residents, and international applicants passionate about aviation,'
said flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith. 'We are committed to developing a skilled workforce that supports Dubai's position as a global aviation hub.'
Captain Ahmad Bin Huzaim, Senior Vice President of Flight Operations, highlighted that the programme welcomes individuals with little or no flying experience and focuses equally on academic performance and core leadership traits.
The training includes classroom instruction, simulator sessions, flight hours, and line training. Applicants must pass a series of aptitude, cognitive, and medical assessments. The first batch is expected to begin training in late 2025.
flydubai currently employs over 6,400 staff from 144 nationalities, including more than 1,330 pilots. With 12 new aircraft due for delivery this year, the airline continues its recruitment drive to match its rapid growth and expanding network of over 130 destinations.

The partnership will see Samsung's globally recognized Samsung Innovation Campus program become an integral part of the UAE Artificial Intelligence Camp — the region's largest gathering of AI events, workshops, and hackathons — and for the second year in a row, the program aims to enrich participants' knowledge in various areas, most notably the fundamentals of artificial intelligence. Dr. Abdelrahman Al Mahmoud, Director at the UAE Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office, affirmed that the UAE Government is committed to sustaining its partnerships with leading global technology companies, while continuing to enhance the exchange of best practices, expertise, and knowledge, as well as launching and implementing joint educational and knowledge-based programs. These efforts contribute to achieving the UAE's visions in the field of artificial intelligence. He added that embedding the Samsung Innovation Campus within the UAE Artificial Intelligence Camp provides participants with access to diverse, world-class learning opportunities, and reflects the UAE Government's efforts to develop the capabilities of the new generation of innovators and experts in artificial intelligence, strengthening their contributions and role in shaping the future. DooHee Lee, President of Samsung Gulf Electronics, stated, "At Samsung we believe that blending both education and technology provide a powerful combination for progress. Bringing Samsung Innovation Campus to the UAE AI Camp allows us to do more than just teach; we are actively preparing the next generation of leaders to excel in an AI-powered future. With this partnership, we continue our mission to empower minds, and we are proud to support the UAE's efforts in preparing youth for the future through technology." The Samsung Innovation Campus curriculum, developed as Samsung's global CSR initiative, is designed to foster digital literacy and innovation amongst the youth through courses in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analysis, and IoT (Internet of Things). Participants will learn from industry experts, gaining invaluable insights and practical skills crucial for careers in the rapidly expanding technology sector. The UAE AI Camp 2025, held from mid-July to mid-August, featured more than 70 sessions, interactive workshops, hackathons, challenges, and lectures.
