MINISO to open first Glasgow store at Braehead
It is to be located on the lower level of the shopping centre, opposite the MAC store and will open in the coming months but there is no official launch date yet.
The store will bring the popular brand to Braehead and include exclusive collections feature characters from Harry Potter, Disney, Pokemon, Care Bears and much more.

We have already seen the dangers this level of fame can create, even before the author of the series descended into Twitter troll status There are all the elements for disaster waiting to happen – and while, for me, schadenfreude is tempting given Rowling's behaviour – I'm worried that these innocent children will be the collateral damage. Not least because the author behind Harry Potter, JK Rowling, has been slammed by many for her critical views of the transgender community, prompting calls to boycott the show. In an interview with The Times, Lithgow said: 'I thought, why is this a factor at all? I wonder how JK Rowling has absorbed it. I suppose at a certain point I'll meet her and I'm curious to talk to her.' Meanwhile, Nick is remaining optimistic as he spoke about his excitement to step into the role in a recent chat. 'I've gone in to do head sculpts and have your hand stand and stuff, and they say, 'Oh, have a look at this.' And you're like, 'Wow. That's the coolest thing.' 'I love films. I've loved cinema my whole life, so to be part of that universe now and that they're showing me, like, a dancing mushroom, it's like, 'That is so cool!' he said. A Disney spokesperson confirmed the action on Tuesday. The exact number of jobs being cut is unknown, but lay-offs will occur across several divisions, including television and film marketing, TV publicity, casting and development, and corporate financial operations. No entire teams will be eliminated. 'As our industry transforms at a rapid pace, we continue to evaluate ways to efficiently manage our businesses while fuelling the state-of-the-art creativity and innovation that consumers value and expect from Disney,' the spokesperson said. 'As part of this ongoing work, we have identified opportunities to operate more efficiently and are eliminating a limited number of positions.' Last month, Disney posted solid profits and revenue in the second quarter as its domestic theme parks thrived and the company added well over a million subscribers to its streaming service. The company also boosted its profit expectations for the year. Disney's also been riding a wave of box office hits, including Thunderbolts* and Lilo & Stitch, which is now the second-highest grossing movie of the year. In 2023, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that Disney would cut about 7,000 jobs as part of an ambitious company-wide cost-savings plan and 'strategic reorganisation'. Disney said at the time that the job reductions were part of a targeted 5.5 billion dollars cost savings across the company. Shares of Disney, which is based in Burbank, California, rose slightly in midday trading.
