MP Peter Prinsley opens new parliamentary office in Stowmarket
The MP officially opened the office by cutting a red ribbon with the help of his wife, Dr Marian Prinsley, on Friday."Stowmarket is a really lovely little town, and we are very pleased to be able to be here," he added. The MP and his staff had been using the space for several months but had to delay the opening date until security provisions could be organised.Cliff Waterman, labour councillor and leader at West Suffolk Council, said the opening was great news for Bury St Edmunds. "He's saying 'here I am, come talk to me' and I think that's what an MP should be doing," he added. His office will employ four people regularly, in a mix of part-time and full-time roles, and will eventually offer internships and work experience opportunities.Dr Prinsley said: "I'm usually here at the end of the week – I hope people might spot me, we're definitely open to people coming to see us."

The former first minister of Scotland has accused the Tories of 'deliberately trying to fuel hatred' against asylum seekers by presenting them as a threat to women and children. Humza Yousaf said politicians like Robert Jenrick were 'reviving the old colonial lie that people from the east are somehow dangerous savages'. Mr Jenrick, the shadow justice secretary, has said he supports 'every peaceful protest outside an asylum hotel' and later attended one in Epping, where an asylum seeker was charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. Demonstrations against asylum seekers staying in hotels have sprung up across the UK, including in Scotland, with those attending claiming they are making their communities less safe. Mr Jenrick, who previously ran for the Tory leadership, said small boat crossings in the English Channel amounted to a 'national security emergency', adding: 'The truth is that mass, uncontrolled immigration has been fuelling crime and made women and girls less safe. ' In a video posted to social media, Mr Yousaf hit back at the Tory claims, saying it was 'predatory men' who posed a danger to women, rather than people from any one group, such as asylum seekers. He said: 'As a father of three girls, let me tell you that it's not asylum seekers I'm worried about when it comes to my daughter's safety – it's men, predatory men, who come in every colour, every religion, are from every background. 'Of course, those who do commit heinous crimes against women, be they asylum seekers or those who have lived in the UK for 10 generations, they should and must feel the full force of the law. 'But when you purposely single out asylum seekers, as the Tories are doing, you're not interested in protecting women, you're deliberately trying to fuel hatred. 'You're reviving the old colonial lie that people from the east are somehow dangerous savages.' The former SNP leader said such rhetoric has turned 'fear into mobs who are ready to set fire to hotels housing asylum seekers', in reference to a riot in Rotherham last year in which a man who attempted to set fire to an asylum hotel. 'It leads to bricks through windows,' he added. 'It leads to fire bombs aimed at vulnerable families who've already fled war and persecution. 'And here's the truth, violence against women is committed by men from every walk of life. 'Blaming asylum seekers doesn't make women safer, it just makes society more divided, more suspicious, more willing to turn on the most vulnerable. 'What the Tories are doing isn't about women's safety, it's about stoking fear. It's the oldest populist trick in the book, let's make sure we don't fall.'

Now, Johnny wants to convert another plane into the 'world's coolest office'. Stacked on top of three storeys worth of containers, he says that the installation would be a hub for co-working and office spaces and include a coffee shop and other facilities However, his plans have ground to a halt as he waits for Bristol City Council to approve the project. The businessman's proposal has received a staggering 70 letters of support, but also 9 complaints. His last project proved to be controversial, as nearby residents complained of 'noisy parties' on the airline. He claims that the objections are preventing areas like Bristol from being regenerated. Johnny said: "It's not a surprise that not much gets done in poorer parts of the UK when some locals behave like this and attack the one person who is prepared to invest and make something new. "But in reality the vast majority of people in the area are lovely and 90% of the people support the application." Naysayers have branded his proposals as part of a 'vanity project' or 'publicity stunt'. One complainer said more bluntly that the first plane is an 'absolute eyesore'. However, Johnny hasn't been deterred - in fact, he thinks the second plane could rival another iconic Bristol landmark. The entrepreneur said: '"This is going to be Bristol's second most iconic structure. People will think of Bristol and picture the Clifton suspension bridge and Ground Force." He also suggested that the noise referenced in the complaints was linked to 'events and venues' in the nearby area, not the 'existing fuselage'. Johnny first opened up his Airbnb in 2021, which has been used by film makers, music video producers and event organisers. The jet itself was built in 1968 and used as a private jet from 1981 until 2012. A night on the plane costs £850, though its owner claims that it makes guests feel like a 'billionaire at 32-feet'. The jet comes with leather seats, a gold plated shower, two double bedrooms but has had its wings and engine removed. He wants his second project to begin development in January, if he gets permission from the council. After that, he wants to launch the space in March. Speaking about his vision for the city, Johnny said: "Cities are defined by their landmarks or skylines. In Bristol we have a bridge and some colourful houses which I love, but I think we can do better. "I love the idea of Bristol being known as the place with the airliners on shipping containers. It adds to our global identity, inspires young engineers and is a spectacle to see. "I want this project to be something that inspires more people to do more, think bigger, create better work."
