'I don't know yet,' Boone said about Judge's return to the field. 'What I've said is I'm waiting on the trainers to say, 'Thumbs up.' He's expected to long toss again today, so I don't expect it here in Tampa. Could it be Boston? Maybe. I just don't know yet.'
The Yankees are coming off a three-game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals and hold a three-game lead for the final American League wild-card spot. Offensively, they will be satisfied if Judge can simply remain productive at the plate. He entered the week batting .333 with 39 home runs, 91 RBIs and a 1.134 OPS, all among the league leaders. His home run Sunday was his first extra-base hit since returning.

Judge's inability to play the field has reduced the team's flexibility. Stanton is batting .299 with 12 home runs, 34 RBIs and a .953 OPS this season, but his long injury history makes any outfield assignment a risk. He did not debut until mid-June because of tendinitis in both elbows. After playing three straight games in the outfield last week, he missed three consecutive games with soreness. He has declined to specify where the discomfort occurred.

At least they are still comfortably atop the AL East standings, but it sure felt like they squandered an opportunity to enhance that status. In July, they dropped two of three to the Athletics and three of four to the Orioles. In June, they lost two of three to the White Sox. But they have to be at least an irritating development for a team that can smell the opportunity it has created for itself by having so much success against better teams. Of course, if he isn't used that also means he could slip back into the rotation as soon as the next time through if needed. Article content The eyebrow-raiser would be that Jose Berrios, struggling of late, is back in for Saturday. But the Jays and Schneider have such respect for the professionalism of Berrios that they likely believe he's earned the right to work his way out of those struggles. For now, anyway.

Article content After suffering a season-ending injury near the start of last season, the 35-year-old veteran has been an anchor at right tackle this season, which is exactly what the Roughriders were hoping for when they lured him from Winnipeg in free agency last year. Article content Article content In a veteran-heavy lineup, there aren't a lot of options when it comes to naming Saskatchewan's top rookie. Article content Since receiver Joe Robustelli suited up for one regular season game last year, he's ineligible for the top rookie award this year. That leaves left tackle Payton Collins as the man leading the way this year. Article content After fellow left tackle Trevor Reid earned this award last year before leaving for an NFL opportunity, the Roughriders were left to fill the position with another rookie this season. Article content In stepped Collins, who has drawn rave reviews from his coaches and teammates for his work at left tackle. Even though he missed seven weeks with an injury, if Collins continues to hold down the blindside for the second half of the season, he should earn the most votes at the end of the year. Article content Article content Although he's been limited to five games, returner Mario Alford is still the front-runner for this award in the first half in what's been a resurgent season for the veteran. Along with a game-winning, 99-yard kickoff return, Alford has been a special teams spark when he's been in the lineup. Article content If he returns early in the second half of the season, he will get plenty of votes at the end of the year. But if he misses more time, we may have to look elsewhere and it's about time long snapper Jorgen Hus gets some recognition. Article content The longest-serving member of the Roughriders has done everything that has been asked of him and more as he continues to be among the league's most reliable players at his position. 'Woke' Minnesota Vikings face backlash after male cheerleaders join squad
The Minnesota Vikings have been slammed for adding two male cheerleaders to its team of sideline supporters. Article content The addition of Blaize Shiek and Louie Conn have prompted some on social media to say they will no longer support the NFL team, while others have gone so far as to hit the two men with homophobic and hateful comments. Article content Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville, a former college football coach, said he believes the optics will affect the league's masculine image. Article content 'I would like to ask the ownership of the NFL and the commissioner, 'What the hell are you doing?'' the Alabama senator told Outkick's Hot Mic with Hutton & Withrow. Article content 'If you're going to be woke, and if you're going to try to take the men out of men's sports, which is what they're doing, they're trying to take gender and try and make it more about gender than about masculinity, then you're going to have a huge problem.'
