Arun Kumar Puthila summoned over externment notice inquiry
Mangaluru:
firebrand Arun Kumar Puthila has been summoned to appear for an inquiry in connection with an externment notice issued against him. The notice, served by assistant commissioner and sub divisional magistrates's office, Puttur subdivision, directed his externment from Dakshina Kannada district to Shahabad police station limits in Kalaburagi.

The inquiry is scheduled for June 6.
The 54-year-old leader was called under provisions of the Karnataka Police Act, following a decision to extern him from the district. Puthila was given the option to appear either in person or through legal counsel. The notice clearly states that failure to appear will be interpreted as a lack of interest in contesting the externment. In such a case, the authorities will proceed with a one-sided decision based on the available information.
Reacting to the development, Arun Kumar Puthila told TOI that ever since the Congress came to power in Karnataka, there was a concerted attempt to repeatedly target Hindus and appease minority communities.
"This externment notice is yet another step in that direction. We are actively involved in our organisation's work, taking part in religious programmes, and are committed to activities aligned with the national ideology.
This move is clearly aimed at demoralising our workers. I strongly condemn it," he said.
Puthila asserted that such actions will not deter them from continuing their work on Hindutva and religious causes. "I am confident that the people of this region will respond appropriately to the Congress party's action at the right time. Our karyakartas will not buckle under pressure," he added.
He further stated that he would consult senior leaders in the organisation before deciding on the next course of action. "We have been associated with the RSS for the past several years. We never engaged in any anti-social activity. Action should instead be taken against those who truly disturb the peace and not on our Karyakartas engaged in religious work," he said.

‘Operation Lagaam' launched in Garhwal division to curb road rage incidents
Dehradun: In response to a recent surge in road rage incidents involving tourists across the Garhwal division, Inspector General (IG) Garhwal, Rajeev Swaroop, on Saturday announced 'Operation Lagaam', aimed at identifying and taking action against those disrupting public order on the roads. The move came after videos of at least two recent incidents were widely circulated on social media, triggering outrage among locals. The latest such case occurred in Dehradun on May 30, when unidentified men in a Haryana-registered SUV allegedly attacked a merchant navy officer's car after he overtook them. A case was registered after the IG stepped in. Earlier on May 4, seven men from Punjab were arrested in Srinagar for allegedly attacking locals with swords after being asked not to create a nuisance with their modified bike silencers on the way to Hemkund Sahib in Chamoli. Swaroop told TOI, "Police took serious note of the road rage incidents, after which an SOP was issued to all district police units in the range to take appropriate legal action against those creating nuisance, engaging in unprovoked road rage, or drinking on roads." The drive is expected to continue through the peak tourist season. He added, "Tourists are welcome to visit Uttarakhand, which is known as Devbhoomi. But acts of road rage or violence by them will not be tolerated."

'Criminal betrayal of our soldiers': Congress slams Modi Govt over 'failing' to isolate Pakistan
The Congress on Saturday (June 7, 2025) alleged that the Modi government has failed to isolate Pakistan on the global stage after the Pahalgam terror attack, calling it a "criminal betrayal" of Indian soldiers and citizens. Congress' head of media and publicity department, Pawan Khera, said instead of strong action against Pakistan, China armed it with fifth-generation jets and missiles and the World Bank and the ADB gave more aid to the neighbouring country. He claimed that the UN Security Council also named Pakistan Vice-Chair of the Anti-Terrorism Committee, just days after the terror attack on Indian soil. "After the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam, we expected strong actions and global isolation of Pakistan, but what has actually happened? "China is arming Pakistan with 40 fifth-generation stealth J-35A fighter jets armed with cutting-edge PL-17 missiles. Azerbaijan is investing $2 billion in purchasing 40 Pakistani JF-17 fighter jets," Mr. Khera said. "The World Bank has pledged USD 40 billion for Pakistan's development. The IMF approved USD 1 billion bailout to Pakistan. Russia has signed a USD 2.6 billion agreement to rebuild a steel plant in Karachi," he said in a post on X. Khera also claimed that Kuwait and the UAE have relaxed visa rules and offered 10 billion-dollar investment deals and Pakistan has joined the China International Mediation Organization, gaining greater influence in Asian diplomacy. "The UN Security Council has named Pakistan Vice-Chair of the Anti-Terrorism Committee, just days after a terror attack on Indian soil! "This is not just a diplomatic failure. It is a criminal betrayal of our soldiers and citizens," Mr. Khera said. Another Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury said in a post that IMF gave $1 billion to Pakistan on May 9, the World Bank decided to give $40 billion to Pakistan soon after Operation Sindoor and ADB gave $800 million to Pakistan on June 3, even though the ADB president met PM Modi on June 1. "Have we failed in our Foreign Policy?" she asked. "Why are the 4 terrorists who indulged in Pahalgam carnage still alive and going around?" she said. "You are able to eliminate Naxals, but not able to eliminate these 4 terrorists, even after a month? Who is responsible for the intelligence failure? "151 tours, 72 countries, many hugs, kisses and gifts. Still no results. India needs answers," Chowdhury said. The Congress leader also said that a special session of Parliament was required to ask questions on US President Donald Trump's claims, more than 11 times, of "brokering a ceasefire" between India and Pakistan. "Why is PM Modi not denying his claim?" she asked.

Democracy doesn't need drama: BJP rebuts Rahul Gandhi's 'match-fixing' claim on Maha polls
Bharatiya Janata Party leaders strongly criticized Rahul Gandhi's claims of election rigging in Maharashtra. JP Nadda dismissed Gandhi's allegations as fabricated narratives after electoral defeats. Dharmendra Pradhan accused Gandhi of discrediting institutions due to insecurity. Chandrashekhar Bawankule questioned Gandhi's silence on voter data discrepancies during Congress's rule. BJP urged Congress to introspect instead of making baseless accusations. Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads The BJP on Friday hit back at Rahul Gandhi over his "match-fixing" allegation in the Maharashtra assembly polls , calling it a desperate attempt to manufacture fake narratives after repeated electoral losses In a five-point rebuttal to Gandhi's recent article, BJP president JP Nadda said: "Instead of introspecting, he cooks up bizarre conspiracies and cries rigging.""Rahul Gandhi ignores all facts, defames institutions, and shamelessly peddles lies despite being exposed time and again," Nadda said, adding that the Congress leader was doing so because "a defeat in Bihar is certain." Democracy doesn't need drama. It needs truth," he minister Dharmendra Pradhan also criticised Gandhi's remarks, calling them part of a "predictable script-lose elections, discredit institutions, fabricate conspiracies, and portray himself as a victim of an imaginary system.""But India's democracy is far stronger than the insecurities of a dynast who refuses to accept repeated electoral verdicts," Pradhan added that if Rahul Gandhi should be worried about any rigging, "it's the kind his own party mastered for decades-from the Emergency to misusing Article 356 over 90 times to dismiss opposition governments."Echoing the sentiment, BJP's Maharashtra unit chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule accused Gandhi of selective data use."In the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, there were 7.29 crore voters. Five months later in the assembly polls, the number rose by 30 lakh. Congress was in power at both Centre and state then. Why didn't you question the Election Commission back then? Was it in alliance with Congress?" Bawankule said the Congress raised no concerns over voter figures in 2009, but is now complaining after facing defeat."Unless the Congress does serious introspection, similar results will follow," Bawankule added.
