Severe delays on M62 with westbound carriageway closed after massive lorry fire

The westbound carriageway on the M62 near Huddersfield is closed causing major tailbacks after a fire ripped through a lorry.
The blaze, between junction 24 (Ainley Top) and 22 (Rishworth Moor) in west Yorkshire was reported at 6.55am this morning, with fire crews called to the scene.
Photos show the lorry on fire with huge plumes of black smoke.
On its website, National Highways says there are currently delays of up to an hour, with 6 miles of congestion, 'almost back to J26 (Bradford South)'.
It advised the following diversion: from J24 – follow the solid square symbol, via the A629 north, the A646 and A58 west, through Sowerby Bridge and then the A672 south from Ripponden, to return to to J22.
Earlier, @haseebarslan shared photos of the burning vehicle on X and wrote traffic was 'stretching back past Bradford'.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said earlier three crews were tackling the fire. More Trending
They said in a statement: 'We were called at 06.35 to the M62 junction 22/23 Westbound to reports of a large vehicle on fire.
'We have three crews at the scene who have extinguished a large goods vehicle using hose reels and breathing apparatus.
'They're currently damping down, no reports of any injuries.'

A lorry struck the central reservation, crossing over the road between Junction 28 and 29 at around midday. Motorists have been stuck for hours as the clean up operation continues on the motorway. The HGV has since been recovered, but cops are still dealing with damage to the barrier. Drivers have been warned to expect delays of up to 60 minutes northbound and 30 minutes heading south. Writing on X, National Highways said: "Lane 3 is closed in both directions on the M5 between J29 (Exeter) & J28 (Tiverton Dulford) due to a collision involving a lorry which has struck the central reservation. "There are long delays on approach to the lane closure in both directions. "Delays in excess of 60 minutes northbound and 30 minutes southbound (above usual journey times). "A lorry has crossed over resulting in significant damage. Traffic Officers & emergency services on scene. "Delays in excess of 30 minutes in both directions, approx. 5.5 miles of congestion." A section of a main road in Surrey is set to be closed in both directions for a second summer weekend. The A3 will be closed south of Junction 10 (Wisley interchange) to B2215/A247 at Burnt Common from 21:00 BST on Friday until 06:00 on Monday to "install several gantries and for resurfacing", according to National Highways. The closure is being rolled out amid ongoing works at the busiest section of the M25 which involve widening the A3 where it meets the follows a similar weekend roadworks on the A3 , which closed the road between Wisley and the Painshill Roundabout in July. A National Highways spokesperson said: "We are restoring heathland and upgrading the junction with the A3 Wisley Interchange to reduce congestion, improve safety and create more reliable journeys."We thank drivers and the local community for their patience and ask anyone travelling during these times to plan their journeys carefully."Full details of diversions are available here. A further weekend closure of the A3 near junction 10 is planned for 12 to 15 September.
