16-year-old Florida high school student killed by vehicle while crossing street: report
ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) — A 16-year-old student was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking to school Monday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened near Oak Ridge High School in Orlando when a 28-year-old Orlando woman in a Dodge Avenger traveling westbound on Oak Ridge Road struck the girl just after 8 a.m. FHP said the teen crossed Oak Ridge Road, leaving the north sidewalk toward the south sidewalk.

Officials said the victim was not walking in a marked crosswalk when she was hit. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Aerial video taken by NBC affiliate WESH from the scene of the crash shows two FHP vehicles and a sheriff's office vehicle just outside the school following the incident.
In a statement obtained by WESH, school officials released the following on Monday:
Families of Oak Ridge High School were notified that a student was struck by a vehicle this just off campus. School administration is assisting law enforcement as they investigate the incident.
It is unclear if the driver is expected to face charges.

3 dead in 2 Orange County crashes Monday
Two crashes in Orange County on Monday morning left three people dead and one injured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. One two-vehicle crash occurred at 6:19 a.m. shutting down part of West Colonial Drive near Hiawassee Road for hours when a westbound vehicle attempted a left-hand turn, but was struck by an eastbound car. Killed were a 53-year-old Orlando man who was driving a 2015 Jeep Compass as well as a 51-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Jeep, FHP stated. The Jeep had just exited the the turn lane just west of Hiawassee Road and it was struck on its right side by a 2013 Nissan Maxima driven by a 21-year-old Ocoee man. The Jeep passenger was pronounced deceased on scene while the driver was transported to Heath Central Hospital, where he was declared dead, FHP said. The Maxima driver was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation. The other crash occurred at 6:16 a.m. in a parking lot off of Lake Ellenor Drive near Diplomacy Row, according to an FHP crash report. Killed in the single-vehicle crash was 64-year-old Orlando man who may have suffered a medical episode causing the 2000 Honda CR-V he was driving to collide with a column in front of a building, the report stated. He was transported to ORMC and pronounced dead. The crash also remains under investigation.

FHP: Man dead, teen hurt after mini-bikes collide with SUV in Orange County
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash in Orange County involving two mini-bikes and an SUV. It happened around 6:30 p.m. Sunday on Orange Avenue near Nela Avenue in the Pine Castle area. Troopers said two people were thrown from their bikes after both crashed into the back of an Acura MDX SUV. FHP said the SUV was stopped in traffic on the inside lane of northbound Orange Avenue at the time. A 21-year-old Orlando man died after the impact. A 16-year-old boy, also of Orlando, was seriously hurt, troopers said. The driver and a passenger in the SUV were uninjured and stayed at the crash site, according to FHP.
