Daily Mail10-07-2025
Matty Healy enjoyed a romantic night out with his fiancée Gabbriette Bechtel as they joined Naomi Campbell for a birthday bash in Paris.
The 1975 frontman, 36, and the model-musician, 27, stepped out for Russian model Natasha Poly's birthday party at hotel La Réserve on Wednesday.
The engaged couple were matching in all-black ensembles, with Gabbriette showing off her tattooed arm in a skintight sleeveless bodysuit with a balloon-style leather skirt.
Meanwhile Matty opted for his signature black blazer, paired with a t-shirt, straight leg trousers and trainers.
Supermodel Naomi, 55, was also in attendance for the party as she ditched her classic long straightened locks for a stunning curly 'do.
Naomi looked effortlessly chic in a black strapless denim dress, featuring a striking 3D effect at the bust.
She paired the dress with black stilettos and a variety of colourful bracelets, as well as wearing sunglasses despite the time of night.
Matty and Gabbriette have been linked since September 2023, when they were spotted packing on the PDA in New York City, shortly after his well-publicised split from Taylor Swift in June that year.
The couple went on to announce their engagement in June 2024 after a whirlwind nine-month romance, with Gabbriette showing off her black diamond ring on Instagram.
Matty's mum Denise Welch gave her fans a glimpse into her son and Gabbriette's engagement party in California in May.
Denise cuddled up to her daughter-in-law-to-be Gabreitte as she took to her Instagram Stories and re-shared an image from the model's account of the pair looking as glamorous as ever.
The bride-to-be simply captioned the adorable snap: 'MAMA.'
The engagement party came after Gabbriette shared a passionate kiss with her fiancé at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in Sydney in December after he got into a heated row while defending her to Azealia Banks.
The 1975 frontman attended the ceremony in support of his musician partner who was honoured with the International Sensation of the Year award.
The influencer took to her Instagram at the time to share a slew of photos from the night, including several smitten snaps of her cosying up to Matty.
One shot saw the singer wrap his arms around Gabbriette, while a short video showed him getting down on one knee in front of her, before rising up to share a smooch.
Their PDA-filled night came mere hours after Matty engaged in yet another fiery back-and-forth with controversial rapper Azealia Banks.
The drama unfolded when Azealia criticised pop superstar and fiancee of Matty's 1975 bandmate George Daniel, Charli XCX, taking to X to tweet: 'Charli used to be sooo pretty. Ugh.'
Matty fired back with a scathing response that read: 'All the women you attack seem to be culturally relevant, attractive, divisive and NICE people. I think this makes you jealous cos you're so talented but everything else about you is a failure. Just rap bro.'
He then came to the defence of his own fiancée, as he ranted: 'And on that point if I see one little s**t bag twitter barista say ONE thing about my Gabi, EVER, I will use my mental illness to full affect and I will dox and f**k you up. I'm so over pretending to have different standards online cos it's 'not real'. Well, a f***in slap is.'
However, an unimpressed Azealia responded by insulting both Gabriette and Matty, as she savagely replied: 'The b***h look[s] like Frankenstein to me. You both look like you share needles. Lmao.'
An enraged Matty then issued a wildly dramatic threat, tweeting: 'Talk to me like that I'm not gonna side eye you at an awards do I'll f******slap you so hard I'll get a Guiness world record for the highest a rat some bitch calls a wig has ever flown.'
Recognising the inappropriate nature of his outburst, the singer quickly backtracked, apologising: 'Nah I can't be saying I'm gonna hit a girl that's insane I'm sorry. You just can't keep being so mean about my mates and my mrs it's really hurtful gets me well defensive.'
After Azealia threatened to sue Matty over his threat of physical violence, he later took to The 1975's Reddit page to issue a grovelling apology saying he had 'let himself down' and that he felt 'gross' for having 'acted violent'.
He wrote: 'What a bad day, I really let myself down. I have worked so hard to move past these impulsive self destructive and honestly quite volatile outbursts I have.
'I'm constantly making trouble for myself for no reason, I come back to social media after depressive episodes (which is NOT an excuse) because I often become sober, so as an addict when I'm not using I pick up social media my new way of 'consuming' and changing how I feel.
'I just feel dreadful about how I acted violent – I think Azealia and all obvious flawed people all deep down have a heart and I hate that I have contributed to her mental fragility. She's a human.
'This cultural discourse has become so violent in general. I don't wanna act like I regret who I am or who have been. But Tbh at this point I feel gross even having said anything negative ever about anything – if it's contributed to this culture.'

Super Charlie review – superhero baby yarn channels resentment of older kids at new arrivals

Super mediocre is more like it. Or super underwhelming. This family animation about a baby with superhero powers is adapted from a children's book series by the bestselling Swedish crime novelist Camilla Läckberg, but with almost no feel for its target audience. It's pitched at very young kids (if you ignore the dodgy gag about a new mum breastfeeding her baby's father). But Super Charlie is seriously lacking a sense of fun or a silly streak to tickle little funny bones – it's as if the film-makers have never met anyone under five. Willie (voiced by Alex Kelly in the English-language version) is a 10-year-old in a deep pit of disgruntlement following the birth of his baby brother, Charlie. 'How long will he be this useless?!' His exhausted parents are too busy for him so when Willie discovers that Charlie has got super powers, he decides to claim the glory for himself (making an 'S' for sidekick T-shirt for little Charlie). There's an elaborate backstory to explain the villains, another pair of siblings with a plot to take control of the police force using robo-police suits. There is a serious theme here about the hurt and resentment a child can feel at being usurped by the arrival of a new baby. But Super Charlie doesn't have anywhere near the heart of a Pixar; it simply chugs along, bland and a bit unimaginative. It doesn't have nearly enough fun with its pint-sized superhero either. The Boss Baby got plenty of mileage out of a baby carrying a briefcase, and little Jack-Jack in The Incredibles was cute as well as mighty. Poor Super Charlie is destined to be no one's favourite child. Super Charlie is in UK and Irish cinemas from 15 August.

Actor Brian Cox reveals his top choice for James Bond – and he's Irish

Actor Brian Cox has said Cillian Murphy, the Peaky Blinders star, would be an 'interesting' choice to play James Bond. Amazon MGM Studios previously announced that Steven Knight, the creator of Peaky Blinders, would write the script for the next James Bond film, with Dune's Denis Villeneuve as director. Succession star Cox told Radio Times that the Irish actor would be a good fit because 'he's very real', adding: 'He's got no crap about him.' Cox was speaking ahead of the upcoming second series of reality competition 007: Road To A Million, in which he returns as The Controller, a stern and sardonic taskmaster. The Prime Video series follows eight contestants as they are dropped into the high-stakes world of James Bond and take on missions that push them to their limits, both physically and psychologically, for the chance to win £1m. Speaking of the 007 role, Cox said: 'It's only natural that it goes through changes because we start off young and end up old. 'Is Cillian Murphy being recommended? I think that would be interesting. I like Cillian. He's very real, he's got no crap about him.' Murphy previously played hard-drinking gang leader Tommy Shelby in Peaky Blinders. Elsewhere in the interview, Cox described Vladimir Putin as a 'definite villain' and criticised Donald Trump's administration. The Scottish actor, 79, said: 'There's certainly a lot of people around who I feel are villainous. 'With what's happening in Ukraine, Putin is a definite villain, for my money. 'I think some of the American behaviour has definitely been unthinking. 'What's tragic is that America was built on the notion of egalitarianism, and the present administration don't want us to be equal.' The full interview can be read in the latest edition of Radio Times magazine.
