Gold falls Rs 200 to Rs 97,820/10 g; silver trades flat at Rs 1.13 lakh/kg

New Delhi, Jul 29 (PTI) Gold prices fell Rs 200 to Rs 97,820 per 10 grams in the national capital on Tuesday due to persistent selling by stockists, according to the All India Sarafa Association.
'Gold prices eased following confirmation of a trade deal between the US and EU. Further, expectations that the US Federal Reserve will hold interest rates steady in this week's FOMC meeting have further supported the dollar,' Abans Financial Services' Chief Executive Officer Chintan Mehta said.
However, silver prices remained flat at Rs 1,13,000 per kilogram (inclusive of all taxes) on Tuesday, as per the Sarafa Association.
Meanwhile, spot gold rose USD 9.48, or 0.29 per cent, to USD 3,324.11 per ounce in the international markets.
'Gold is trading near USD 3,315-level as markets await key US macroeconomic data, including JOLTS job openings and CB Consumer Confidence later in the day, while US trade talks continue with Canada and South Korea,' Kaynat Chainwala, AVP-Commodity Research at Kotak Securities, said.
However, spot silver went marginally lower at USD 38.14 per ounce in global markets.

Amid tariff war, Modi calls for embracing swadeshi
Amid the ongoing tariff war, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday called on citizens to adopt the spirit of 'swadeshi' and support locally-made products, stressing that true service to the nation lies in promoting indigenous goods, especially amid 'global economic uncertainties'. While Pakistan's anguish is understandable, what's shocking is that Congress and Samajwadi Party leaders are also unable to cope with it.' Modi also attacked the Samajwadi Party (SP) for questioning the timing of Operation Mahadev, in which three Pahalgam attack terrorists were killed. 'One of their leaders asked in Parliament -- 'why were the attackers of Pahalgam killed now'. Should I call and ask Samajwadi leaders whether to strike now or later? Should we wait and let the terrorists escape?' Modi asked. 'These are the same people who, during their rule in Uttar Pradesh, gave clean chits to terrorists and withdrew cases against those involved in bomb blasts,' Modi claimed, adding that such parties are now disturbed because terrorists are being eliminated. 'This is 'Naya Bharat' (New India), which worships Lord Shiva but turns Kaal Bhairav against its enemies when needed,' the prime minister said. Modi stressed that Operation Sindoor has demonstrated India's indigenous defence capabilities to the world. 'The power of our locally developed missiles, drones and air defence systems was on full display (during Operation Sindoor). Our BrahMos missile instilled such fear in the enemy that people in Pakistan can't sleep peacefully even in their dreams.' Expressing pride as an MP from Uttar Pradesh, the PM announced that BrahMos missiles will soon be manufactured in Lucknow. The BrahMos unit in Lucknow was inaugurated on May 11. 'Weapons made in the UP Defence Corridor will become the backbone of India's military strength,' he said, asking the crowd if they felt proud of India's self-reliant defence capabilities. Issuing a stern warning, he declared, 'If Pakistan dares to repeat its mistakes, missiles made in UP will wipe out terrorists.' Farmer dies by suicide in Nidasosi
Belagavi: A farmer died by suicide after getting upset over the property auction process in Nidasosi village of Hukkeri taluk on Friday. It is said that the farmer was distressed after a private finance company, which gave him a loan, put up a notice in the village. He reportedly took a loan of Rs 9.9 lakh from a Mumbai-based private finance company and did not repay it on time. The finance company posted a notice in the village stating that his house would be auctioned for non-repayment. Additionally, this was made public in the village through an announcement in a rickshaw. According to police, the preliminary investigation revealed that the farmer Veerabhadra, who was depressed following the announcement in the village, may have died by suicide by hanging himself. Veerabhadra, who engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry, could not repay the loan on time due to the losses he incurred. It is learnt that he also sold his land. Basavanni Madannavar, the father of the deceased farmer, expressed his anger to the media, stating that the financier is responsible for his son's death. The deceased farmer is survived by his parents, wife, and five daughters. Sankeshwar police inspected the spot and registered a complaint.
