Karl-Anthony Towns And OG Anunoby Caught In A Major Disagreement Before Game 1 Collapse Against Pacers

Yahooa day ago

It was a wild scene in Game 1 on Tuesday as the New York Knicks fought desperately to hold their lead against Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers. In a stunning turn of events, the Knicks gave up a 14-point lead in less than three minutes to lose the game in overtime. To make matters even worse, two of the Knicks' most prominent players were caught having a heated altercation on the sidelines before giving up a late-game run.
Chemistry is everything in the playoffs, and the Knicks thought they were fine after beating the Pistons and Celtics in the first two rounds. Behind a star-studded starting lineup and the leadership of Jalen Brunson, the Knicks won 51 games in the regular season, and the success translated well in the postseason until Game 1 this week.

The Knicks had a big lead for most of the game, but costly mistakes down the stretch, combined with hot shooting from the Pacers, led to an impossible comeback that has given Indiana all the momentum in the series. The loss left New York with a lot of questions, but also exposed some heat within their own ranks.
In the short clip, you can see OG and Towns going at each other with just 34 seconds left in the game. Whether it was a disagreement on shot selection or some kind of miscommunication on defense, the two were clearly not on the same page, and it was enough to spark an outburst of frustration from Jalen Brunson.
Up five with momentum slipping, the Knicks needed to rally together to hold the lead and secure the win. Instead, division was sown from within, as Brunson tried (and failed) to make peace between his teammates.
What happened next can only be described as a disaster for New York, as they proceeded to give up their double-digit lead and lose the game in overtime. The Knicks were completely outplayed in the clutch, and by the time they took their final game-winning shot attempt, the players were too tired to make it count.

As two newcomers to the Knicks, Towns and Anunoby have had to adjust this season like everyone else, but the situation is different without a true superstar. With the Knicks, there is no clear-cut leader or top 10 player. Instead, they have a collection of unproven All-Stars who are each trying to take control and steer the team in their image.
Depending on how the season ends, the Knicks may consider some additional roster moves if they think the situation will turn toxic. We know they have several potential trade targets, including Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, but no deal is currently in the works right now.
Whatever the reason behind their collapse, New York has some serious ground to make up after letting Game 1 slip away. To start, they need to resolve tensions in the locker room and establish a game plan that everyone can agree on. After that, every player needs to fulfill their role and live up to their expectations.
After Game 1, the Knicks are facing an uphill battle, but the series is not over yet. If the Knicks take Game 2, there is a path to winning the series and making the Finals for the first time since 1973. If that doesn't resolve the growing divide in the Knicks' locker room, then nothing else will.

Manchester United expects annual core profit to return to pre-COVID levels

By Yadarisa Shabong (Reuters) -Manchester United raised their annual core profit forecast on Friday to levels last seen before the pandemic as the club's strong performance in the Europa League drove ticket sales and broadcast revenue. Ticket sales jumped more than 50% to 44.5 million pounds in the three months to March as the club had a good run in the Europa League, before losing the finals to Tottenham Hotspur. United's New York-listed shares rose 4.4% in U.S. premarket trading. The club's annual core profit, which excludes player trading and finance cost, is expected to jump 21% to 28% to a range of 180 million to 190 million pounds for the year ending June. United had their worst Premier League season since they were relegated in 1974 and hopes of participating in a European competition next season were dashed after they lost the Europa League final. "We had a difficult season in the Premier League, which we all know fell below our standards and we have a clear expectation of improvement next season," CEO Omar Berrada said in a statement. United's absence from European competitions, which are lucrative sources of broadcasting revenue, deals a huge blow to the club's future finances and has drawn anger and disappointment from fans. Jim Ratcliffe, who holds a stake of about 29% in the club and runs their football operations, has taken steps to revive the club's fortunes, including by cutting jobs, raising ticket prices and stopping free lunches at staff canteens. United reported a net loss of 2.7 million pounds for the three months ended March 31, smaller than the 71.5 million pounds it posted a year earlier. The Glazer family, who own a majority of the club, have faced strong criticism from fans for saddling the club with debt, overspending on players and putting off investments on infrastructure. Manager Ruben Amorim said in May that the club did not need a big squad since they were not playing in the Champions League. In March this year, United announced plans to build a new 2-billion-pound 100,000-seat stadium, next to the existing Old Trafford. ($1 = 0.7383 pounds) Sign in to access your portfolio

Angel Reese Posts Telling Message in New TikTok Video

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has been a major topic of conversation in the sports world the last few days. The rivalry between Reese and Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark was discussed ad nauseum during the 2024 WNBA season, with every possible on and off-court angle being addressed. Clark and Reese were once again in the spotlight during the Fever's season-opening win over Chicago last Saturday, particularly after Clark was called for a flagrant foul on the Sky second-year All-Star. Advertisement Reese reacted angrily in the moment, but said postgame that it was a "basketball play" and nothing more. Clark agreed, saying she was trying to stop Reese from getting an easy layup and did not intend to be dirty. That hasn't stopped the dialogue surrounding the altercation from continuing over the last few days, even resulting in an ongoing feud between two former NFL players turned broadcasters. As for anyone who has an issue with Reese, she doesn't appear to be sweating them, based on her latest TikTok video. In the six-second clip, Reese shows off her hair and makeup for the camera while a voiceover plays in the background. "This morning I woke up beautiful again, and craving attention, so I decided to make some bitches mad from scratch," the audio says. Advertisement View the original article to see embedded media. Other celebrities, including Hailey Bieber, have used this audio before. Reese clearly seems to be sending a message to her detractors. In the wake of Saturday's game, the WNBA announced an investigation into alleged "hateful fan comments" made by Fever supporters toward Reese. Clark and her Indiana teammates have publicly supported the probe, which is ongoing. "There's no place for that in our game, there's no place for that in society," Clark said, via ESPN. "Certainly, we want every person who comes into our arena -- whether player or fan -- to have a great experience. I appreciate the league doing that [investigation]. I appreciate that the Fever organization has been at the forefront of that." Advertisement From a ratings perspective, Fever-Sky was a hit, averaging 2.7 million viewers on ABC, which makes it the most-watched WNBA regular season game in 25 years. The two teams will meet again in Chicago on June 7.
