T-Mobile announces the official name and confirms pricing for its satellite service
Despite a lot of backlash about rising prices and other small issues, T-Mobile's future looks bright. The wireless carrier just announced its best quarter yet by adding 1.3 million paid subscribers, crushing competitor Verizon, which saw a record loss.
Not only that, but during its Q1 earnings call, CEO Mike Seivert went a little more in-depth about its upcoming satellite service that's currently in beta. Sievert shared on the call that it would be called T-Satellite and that it would be priced at $10 per month.
The service has amassed quite a number of users during its short trial period, with hundreds of thousands of users giving it a try. And it's easy to understand why. Being able to communicate in places that previously didn't have service is a huge leap.
Not only is this crucial when you're in an emergency situation, but it also makes it possible for those in remote areas to stay connected as well. The big news today was that when the service goes live, and as mentioned before, that it will be available for just $10 per month. It's important to note that T-Mobile customers with the Go5G Next and Experience Beyond plans will get satellite service access for free.
Perhaps the icing on the cake here is that this pricing will also be extended to AT&T and Verizon customers as well. Sievert stated that the rate will be good for at least a year, and that commercial service will make its debut in July, but didn't deliver any word on pricing. Currently, T-Mobile has over 550 satellites in orbit to make this service work, and was able to achieve this with the help of SpaceX. Now, T-Mobile isn't the only one working on satellite service for its customers, with both Verizon and AT&T also offering similar services. It will be interesting to see how this space takes off in the years to come.

Key Phase 3 NEAT clinical trial enrollment highlights to date include: A total of 76 participants have been enrolled, including 65 participants in the six to nine year-old primary analysis population and 11 participants aged 10 years or older. Study powering based on currently enrolled participants is approximately 80%. The rate of screening and randomization activities has materially increased with the recent activation of all study sites. A total of 108 NEAT participants have been screened to date with a low screen failure rate of 10%. All 37 NEAT participants to date have elected to transition to the NEAT open label extension (OLE) study (NCT06664853/IEDAT-04-2022). Participants who complete the full treatment period, complete study assessments, and provide informed consent are eligible to transition to the OLE study. T-Mobile launches fiber internet service in the US with a five-year price lock
T-Mobile is bringing its fiber internet service to more than 500,000 households throughout the US. In an update on Tuesday, T-Mobile revealed three new plans that offer customers symmetrical speeds of up to 2 Gigs. In addition to a five-year price lock, the new plans come with a $5 autopay discount, but only if you pay with a debit card or bank account. Here's a list of the plans, which will be available starting June 5th: T-Mobile's big fiber expansion comes just months after it closed its joint venture deal with the fiber internet provider Lumos — a move the Federal Communications Commission only approved after the carrier made changes to its stance on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). T-Mobile's fiber internet service was previously only available in a limited number of locations. But now it's building out its network through its deal with Lumos and its pending acquisition of the fiber provider Metronet. T-Mobile says it expects to reach 12 to 15 million households or more by the end of 2030, allowing it to compete with rivals like AT&T and Verizon that have invested billions into fiber. Last month, the FCC approved Verizon's $20 billion acquisition of Frontier after it 'committed to ending DEI.' T-Mobile will also provide discounts for customers who have phone lines with the service. It's offering a $75 / month ($70 with autopay) Fiber Founders Club plan as well, which comes with a 10-year price lock but is only 'available in select locations for a limited time.'
