Justin Thomas, after going more than 1,000 days between wins, beat Andrew Novak in a playoff at Harbour Town on Sunday afternoon
He went more than 1,000 days between wins, but Justin Thomas is finally back on top.
Thomas sank a deep birdie putt on the first playoff hole to beat Andrew Novak and win the RBC Heritage on Sunday afternoon. He fired a bogey-free 68, and then erupted into a massive celebration on the green after what was his first win since the 2022 PGA Championship.

With that win came a $3.6 million check, too.
As the RBC Heritage is a Signature Event on the PGA Tour, it offered a $20 million purse. That's just shy of what the Masters offered last week, and on par with some of the biggest prizes on Tour this season.
Thomas has come painfully close to winning in recent years. He had six top-10 finishes on Tour last season, including a runner-up finish at the Zozo Championship, and he entered this week with a pair of runner-up finishes this season, too. Thomas finished in second at The American Express in January and then again at the Valspar Championship in March. He's not missed a single cut in 10 starts this season, and he's coming off a T36 finish at Augusta National last week.
But Thomas was great this week from the jump. He matched the course record on Thursday with a 61, and held his first 36-hole lead in nearly four years after Friday's round. He then held on late and, after Novak missed an 8-footer for the win in regulation, handled the playoff perfectly to finally grab his win.
Here's a look at how much Thomas and the rest of the field earned this week in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

LIV Golf UK: Joaquin Niemann, Torque GC Take Control in Round 2

ROCESTER, England – On Saturday, Joaquin Niemann took complete control of LIV Golf UK. The Torque GC captain shot an 8-under 63 to open up a commanding 6-shot lead. Niemann, who is 14-under through two rounds, shot 30 on the front nine, which is the lowest front nine score recorded at JCB Country Club across the five rounds played during LIV Golf events. His 63 was the lowest round of the day. The Chilean is aiming to win his fifth LIV Golf tournament of the season and seventh overall, both of which would be LIV Golf records. Torque GC leapt to the top of the team leaderboard and will enter Championship Sunday leading Legion XIII by three shots. Chasing Niemann on Sunday will be Bubba Watson, who is putting an impressive week together. The RangeGoats GC captain shot a 3-under 68 to reach 8-under for the tournament, good for solo second place. One shot behind Watson at 7-under are Paul Casey (3-under 68), who is now the leading Englishman through two rounds at JCB, Adrian Meronk (1-under 70), who struggled to get much going in Round 2 and Caleb Surratt (3-under 68). Surratt, LIV Golf's youngest player, continues to play well after going low in the final round at Valderrama, a performance that helped Legion XIII win the team title. Talor Gooch of Smash GC also climbed the leaderboard with a 5-under 66, and is 6-under for the tournament, which puts him in a tie for sixth alongside four other players: Charles Howell III of Crushers GC, Tom McKibbin of Legion XIII, Carlos Ortiz of Torque GC and Marc Leishman of Ripper GC. Lee Westwood of Majesticks GC couldn't get much going on Saturday. The fan-favorite shot a 1-over 72 and slipped to T14 on the leaderboard. Niemann's domination, supplemented by Carlos Ortiz' rounds of 66-70, vaulted Torque GC to the top of the team leaderboard. Sebastian Munoz also played extremely well on Saturday, shooting a 5-under 66. Mito Pereira shot a 1-over 72 after an even par 71 in Round 1. Torque is looking for their first win since LIV Golf Greenbrier in 2023. Torque GC holds a three-stroke lead over Legion XIII, who are looking to win for the second consecutive week and the fourth time this season. The home team, Majesticks GC, is now ninth on the team leaderboard as it seeks to earn its first podium finish since 2022. JCB played much more difficult in Round 2 than it did in Round 1, with a course scoring average of –0.36 compared to yesterday's –1.27. In addition to the final stretch of holes 15–18, holes 4, 6,7 and 8 played over par, with 6 once again playing as the most difficult (+0.33). TEAM SCORES LIV Golf's new scoring format this season now involves all four scores now counting in every round in the team competition. With his brother on the bag, Kurt Kitayama fires career-low 60 Saturday at the 3M Open

Every so often on the PGA Tour there are moments that remind us why Saturday has long been referred to as "Moving Day." Kurt Kitayama started the third round at the 2025 3M Open eight shots behind the 36-hole leader, Thorbjorn Olesen. He finished just before 1:30 p.m. ET with the outright lead, three strokes clear of the field. After posting a 28 on the outward nine, he spent the entire back nine on 59 watch, but a bogey at the par-3 17th all but dashed Kitayama's hopes of joining that prestigious club. He walked to the tee at the par-5 18th needing eagle, and after his tee ball found the right rough, he decided to lay up and give himself a good chance for birdie. "[My ball] was just like a foot in the rough and the lie was — I needed to be a foot in the first cut and I would have gone for it. It was just very questionable, 220 out, I didn't really know if it would jump out of there or maybe just dive. Had a good round going so that would have really stunk if it goes in the water there." Still, he nearly salvaged the 59 with this shot into the green: The 32-year-old California native ultimately signed for an 11-under 60 and entered the clubhouse at 17 under for the tournament after narrowly sneaking inside the 5-under cutline Friday. "Yesterday's round felt like I didn't have any control," Kitayama said. "I hit some balls after, talked to my coach, Chris Como, and kind of worked through some things on the range. Felt like I found something that I could go with. And warming up today, felt pretty good and it kind of showed on the course. Yeah, was happy I was able to find that." He might have felt comfortable warming up, but he certainly didn't think he'd be flirting with 59. "I don't think you really have a number [in mind] going out into any round, just kind of take what you can get. You know, as it comes down the stretch, then the number kind of pops in your mind." The number ended up being 60, which shatters his previous career low of 62, and according to the man himself, it's the best round he's ever played. "Well, it's not only my Tour career best, it's like my personal best. Yeah, it means a lot, especially to have my brother on the bag. It's a really cool experience having that opportunity coming down the stretch. And yeah, it's good to have that momentum going into the final round." Kitayama will now enter Sunday in prime position to capture his second career PGA Tour victory — his first of which came at the 2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational. It's been somewhat of a slog for Kitayama in 2025. He has just four top 25 finishes in 18 starts and entered this week 110th in the race for the FedEx Cup. Another solid round Sunday and he could be walking away in much better standing, which is vital given that next week's Wyndham Championship is the final regular season event on the PGA Tour's 2025 calendar. The FedEx Cup playoffs begin the following week at the FedEx St. Jude Classic in Memphis. Keep up with all the action from Saturday's third round at the 2025 3M Open with our live updates page.

Padraig Harrington leads Justin Leonard by 2 shots at Senior British Open

BERKSHIRE, England — Padraig Harrington birdied the final hole Saturday for another 5-under 65 for a two-shot lead over Justin Leonard going into the final round of the Senior British Open as the Irishman goes for his second senior major of the year. Harrington was among four players who had at least a share of the lead at some point during the round on the Old Course at Sunningdale. He seized the lead with birdies on the 13th and 14th hole, and a closing birdie added to his slight lead. Harrington was at 13-under 197. He has been in the United Kingdom the last three weeks for links golf, starting with the Scottish Open. He won the U.S. Senior Open in Colorado a month ago. Leonard, the only PGA Tour Champions player to make the cut last week in the British Open at Royal Portrush, also had a second straight 65. Thomas Bjorn had a 67 and was three shots behind. Harrington and Leonard are past British Open champions — Leonard at Royal Troon in 1997, Harrington winning the first of two claret jugs a decade later at Carnoustie (2007) and Royal Birkdale (2008). Either one can become the fifth player to win the British Open and Senior British Open, a feat last accomplished by Darren Clarke in 2022. Steven Alker, a two-time Charles Schwab Cup winner who opened with a 73, tried to get back in the game. He shot 66 and was among four players at 8-under 202, five shots behind. The winner is exempt for the 154th British Open next year at Royal Birkdale. ___ AP golf:
