A NEW dessert café is set to sweeten Carlisle's food scene when it opens its doors this weekend.
Indulge at No.15, located on Warwick Road opposite The Halston, is owned by Carlisle locals Beccy and Andrew Griffiths.
The couple received the keys on June 9 and has spent the past two months transforming the space ahead of their grand opening on Saturday, August 16.

'My son is an apprentice bricklayer, so he's been a great help. All the flower displays were made by us. We also lowered and extended the bar, added a fridge and brightened up the whole area.'
The menu will feature mini-Dutch pancakes, Belgian waffles, crêpes, milkshakes, cheesecakes, brownies, cookie dough, crumble, and coffee sourced from a Lake District roastery.

The café will be open from 11 am to 11 pm, Wednesday to Sunday, with earlier brunch openings at weekends planned soon. Indulge will offer sit-in service, takeaways, and deliveries via Food Hub.
Andrew explained the inspiration behind the venture: 'It's something we've always talked about, a bit of a dream.
'My dad lives in Spain, and when we visit, we always go to the ice cream parlours. We realised there's nothing like that here. We wanted somewhere families could go in the evening without having to head to the pub.'

The couple have been hosting 'soft opening' events this week, attracting repeat customers already.
'Everyone's been really supportive. Our neighbours have been great too, offering their help and wishing us luck.
'Our daughter is a cheerleader, and she brought about 16 friends here on Friday night. She's an athlete, so she can eat what she wants, she must've tried the pancakes with every single sauce!' they laughed.

Prince and Princess of Wales to move into new home

The Prince and Princess of Wales are to move into a new home in Windsor, it has been confirmed. William and Kate are moving to eight-bedroom Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park, with their children George, Charlotte and Louis. A Kensington Palace spokesperson said: "The Wales family will move house later this year." According to The Sun, the royal couple are paying for the property and renovations themselves, avoiding any extra cost to the taxpayer. The paper reported that work has already started on minor renovation at the Grade II-listed property. READ MORE: Could Labour ban VPNs after users dodge online protection laws? The council's decision notice refers to the removal of a window and works to a fireplace. In 2001, Forest Lodge underwent £1.5m restoration works and was put on the rental market for £15,000 a month. Images inside the home taken at the time showed the property boasted original stonework, elaborate plaster cornices and ceiling decoration ,and a half-barrel vaulted hallway ceiling. The Wales' move will be a short one from their current main home at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, and the children attend nearby Lambrook School. They also have homes at Anmer Hall in Norfolk and Apartment 1A in Kensington Palace in London. As heir to the throne, William inherited the Duchy of Cornwall estate, a portfolio of land, property and investments valued at more than £1 billion, when his father became King. According to The Sun, Forest Lodge would be worth about £16m on the open market. The freehold is owned by the King.

HMRC confirms change that will give taxpayers lower interest rates in days

HMRC has announced the dates its new interest rates will take effect. Depending on the payment plan used by taxpayers, the dates for the diary were August 18 and 27. The change follows the Bank of England's recent base rate cut, the Mirror reports. READ MORE: 'New garden shed tax' warning as householders urged to check if they're affected The Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee declared a drop in the base rate on August 7. It will drop from 4.25 per cent to four per cent, marking the lowest it has been since March 2023. The base rate sets the tone for interest rates for building societies and banks. It impacts everyone from savers to homeowners, credit card holders and HMRC. Changes to HMRC's interest rates will affect those making late tax payments or receiving repayments on their bill. The current interest rates charged on these payments stand at 8.25 per cent and 3.25 per cent respectively. The late payment interest rate, which is calculated as the base rate plus four per cent, will drop to eight per cent following the Bank of England's change. Repayment interest rates, calculated as the base rate minus one per cent, will now drop to three per cent. The interest rates for quarterly instalment payments will fall on August 18. Meanwhile non-quarterly instalment payments will not benefit from the new rates until August 27. The interest rates were designed to incentivise people to pay tax on time and avoid the late payment interest. The repayment rate aims to fairly compensate taxpayers for any loss incurred due to overpayments. Late payment interest rates hit a record high of 8.5 per cent earlier this year - a level not seen since February 2000, according to HMRC data.

How CAS ruling will affect Crystal Palace in the transfer window

Crystal Palace's hopes of competing in the Europa League this season are over, and the news could have a seismic impact on the club. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) turned down their appeal against UEFA's decision to demote them to the Europa Conference League (BBC). The decision has several implications for Palace. Not only will Nottingham Forest now take their place in the Europa League, but the Eagles may have to draw up a new plan on how to navigate the transfer window. Palace qualified for the Europa League after beating Manchester City to win the FA Cup last season. However, UEFA's multi-club rules forbid clubs under the same ownership from competing in the same tournament. Former shareholder John Textor had a stake in both Palace and Olympique Lyon, who finished sixth in Ligue 1 to qualify for Europe. Textor eventually sold his Palace shares in a desperate attempt to keep them in the Europa League, but the deadline to prove compliance expired back in March. The club took it up with CAS, but they made it clear that the Eagles breached the rules and failed to make the necessary adjustments in time. How the ruling affects Palace's transfer strategy Dropping down to the Europa Conference League is undeniably a massive blow to Palace. On the plus side, they have a better chance at winning the trophy. But the implications go far beyond their chances. The competition is far less prestigious and financially rewarding than the Europa League. The demotion could cost Palace around £20 million in lost revenue. That could have made a world of difference for the Eagles in the transfer market. Without Europa League football, Palace may struggle to attract their key targets as they now have less bargaining power to fend off competition. The verdict also couldn't have come at a worse time for the club. The Eagles are fighting to keep their star players at Selhurst Park, with Eberechi Eze and captain Marc Guehi drawing interest from Arsenal and Liverpool, respectively. There was never any guarantee that the promise of Europa League football would be enough to convince them to stay. Playing in the Europa Conference League holds no weight, considering that a move guarantees them Champions League football.
