Kate Middleton Caught Off Guard by Fan Yelling 'I Love You' at Wimbledon
Kate Middleton quickly became the star of Wimbledon — and fans didn't hold back their admiration for the Princess of Wales.
On Sunday, July 13, Princess Kate, 43, took to Centre Court to present trophies to the men's finalists, first-time Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner of Italy, and runner-up Carlos Alcaraz of Spain, who had won the title in both 2023 and 2024.
As Kate made her way to the ceremony, a fan broke the usual hush of Centre Court, shouting, "I love you, Kate!" The princess appeared to hear the call and responded with a warm chuckle.
Following the sweet moment, Kate presented the awards in her official role as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club — a title she's held since 2016, passed down from Queen Elizabeth II.
The Princess of Wales wasn't the only royal in attendance. She was joined by Prince William and, in a surprise appearance, their two oldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
However, one royal family member was noticeably absent, 7-year-old Prince Louis. While he didn't attend in person, his parents made sure he was included in the celebrations.
After the awards ceremony, the royal family met the new men's champion. During their chat, the royals asked about his post-win plans and the status of his elbow injury — but it was a sweet interaction between Sinner and Charlotte, 10, that stole the spotlight.
The young royal held out three tennis balls for him to sign, and as he did, Kate told the Italian star, "Thank you so much, that's really kind."
"We brought one for their brother as well," she added, with William chiming in, "Louis would be very upset otherwise," prompting laughter between the two.
This isn't the first time the royal children have attended the iconic tournament. Prince George made his Wimbledon debut in 2022 just before turning 9, while Charlotte attended her first match during the 2023 men's final when she was 8.
As for Louis, fans speculate that he may make his debut when he's a bit older — likely around the same age as his siblings.

After a decisive start to the summer transfer window with the capture of Wolves' Matheus Cunha, it has been a frustrating few weeks for Manchester United fans. It appeared as if there would be a quick second addition, with a bid of around £45 million being submitted for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo. Ornstein writes that the reason for United's inactivity in other positions is that 'all focus is on Mbeumo, with United and Brentford in a stand-off over price.' The reporter notes that there is 'some debate over the exact fee Brentford want' but believes that it could be in the region of £70 million. 'United are being patient in the hope that Brentford ease on their valuation, given Mbeumo has said he wants to move to Old Trafford,' Ornstein says. By contrast, in addition to the five set to leave, United have also lost Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof this summer, so even with the addition of Cunha, the squad is seven men lighter than it was at the start of last season.
