However, thousands of families are also being caught out by a number of strict rules in place, which has seen them banned from their flight.

Most of the confusion comes down to not knowing all of the passport rules in place.
So we have explained the five ways that people are being forced to miss their holidays, all because they made a mistake with their passport.
Fake souvenir stamps

However, don't be tempted to put the stamps in your actual passport, and instead ask for them on a piece of paper instead.

Different surnames to your kids
If you are going on
Strict anti-trafficking rules mean that border staff are required to ask for any documents that prove they are related to you, or you have permission to take them out of the country.
For example, if they are your children but you do not share their surname, you will need something like a

certificate alongside your passport.

And a family missed their

An alternative option is a consent letter, sharing permission from their legal guardian although this may not be accepted in all countries.
Any minor damage (depending on country)
When it comes to damaged passports, the UK government cite the following as damage:
you cannot read any of your details
any pages are ripped, cut or missing
holes, cuts or rips in the cover

stains on the pages (for example, ink or water damage)
Any passport that falls under these rules will need to be replaced.

Any tiny tears or spills on a passport is likely to get you banned from a holiday to Bali.
Vietnam is also just as strict, with the UK Foreign Office warning: "Your passport must have no damage.
"British nationals have been denied entry and exit due to passport damage."

Incorrect expiry date
One of the most common mistakes thousands of Brits are still making is having the correct expiry date on their passports.
Pre-Brexit rules allowed UK passports to have a validity of 10 years and nine months (rolling over unused months from the previous passport).
This is no longer allowed,
This is only affecting
If you have a different start date to an expiry date, you might run into trouble, so make sure to add 10 years to your start date to find your correct expiry.
You will also need a few extra months on it depending which country you are travelling to.

One of the strictest is

Japanese high school students perform incredible version of Welsh anthem

Ahead of this summer's Test series between Wales and Japan, Japanese high school students have delivered a stirring rendition of the Welsh national anthem, Mae Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau. The Welsh team, led by Matt Sherratt, is set to face off against the Brave Blossoms in two Tests next month. The first match will be held at Mikuni World Stadium in Kitakyushu on 5 July. This isn't the first time the Welsh side has visited Kitakyushu; they were warmly welcomed there during their pre-World Cup training camp in 2019. Gathered at Kokura Station, the students were dressed in Welsh rugby T-shirts while harmonising to the 'Land of My Fathers'. The collective received warm applause after completing their version of the anthem. Warren Gatland's Wales spent six days in the city prior to the 2019 World Cup, with hundreds of schoolchildren turning up to welcome the squad to their hometown. Chants of 'Go, Go, Cymru!' could be heard from the crowds at the airport. As well as this, Kokura Castle was illuminated in the colours of Wales. After Wales face Japan in the first Test next month, they will travel to Osaka Bay. The second and final match against the Brave Blossoms will take place in Kobe at the Noevir Stadium on July 12. Wales have lost 17 international matches in a row, and are looking for their first win since October 2023, with interim head coach Sherratt the man tasked with trying to steer the ship. Ahead of the tour, the Cardiff Rugby boss has drafted in T Rhys Thomas, Adam Jones, Danny Wilson and Gethin Jenkins onto his coaching staff. Wales legend Leigh Halfpenny is the latest to be added, and will take on his first international coaching role despite still being an active professional player. The iconic full-back is rumoured to be joining French second division outfit Beziers next season, but over the summer he'll be taking on kicking coaching duties from mentor Neil Jenkins in the Far East. At the helm for Japan is former England boss Eddie Jones, who has recently called up a university student ahead of the tour. There are 16 uncapped players in the squad, with an average age of just 26. There's just one player with more than 50 caps in the squad - veteran Michael Leitch, who has played in four World Cups and earned 87 appearances at Test level. The two nations have not faced each another for nine years. Current Grenoble fly-half Sam Davies knocked over an 80th-minute drop goal for Gatland's side to win 33-30 at the death in the autumn internationals of 2016.

I stayed at the English beach holiday park following its £15million makeover with a massive waterpark and soft-play

'WOW, this is the best house ever,' scream my two kids. While their reactions slightly rile me — having just decorated both their bedrooms back home — I can see where they are coming from. 4 Enjoying a stroll along the beach Credit: Supplied 4 We had buckets of fun at Splash Waterpark, only 50 yards or so from our lodge Credit: Supplied For starters, our eight-man Platinum lodge at Unity Beach in Somerset has a hot tub — and it comes complete with undisturbed views of Brean's windswept coastline and a clear sky at night. Everything inside is sleek and stylish, with a statement electric fireplace in the centre and Scandi-style wooden furniture that makes the place look more like a fancy prize draw house than a holiday park lodge. I was staying there with my partner Bianca and two little ones, Frank, six, and Pearl, four. The fun-packed resort has recently been redeveloped as part of a READ MORE ON FAMILY HOLIDAYS The presenter said: 'There's a misconception that British seaside parks are outdated. Unity Beach proves that's no longer true.' I can't argue with her. Even though there was so much to do at the 240-acre resort, we could easily have spent a few hours relaxing in our new home. As well as a decking area with hot tub, it included a spacious lounge with a giant TV (as well as televisions in every bedroom), a fully-fitted kitchen, two double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, plus two more twin rooms. Most read in News Travel The lodges are really close to most of the activities and restaurants, too. These include the new Wonky Donkey, which serves brekkie and pub grub such as scampi, lasagne and burgers, and the Sports Cafe, where kids can play arcade favourites and cutting-edge VR games in between bites of pizza, while adults watch live sport on the large screens. Top Seashore Holiday Parks for Family Fun There's also the revamped Pavilion Theatre, where guests can tuck into wings, loaded fries and kid-sized lighter bites all while watching live game shows and tribute acts. And with a proper kitchen in our lodge, we could always mix it up with a takeaway from the on-site chippy or Chinese. Then there's the retro-decorated RJ's, which offers American diner-style classics such as pizzas, wings and build-your-own burgers. And with a proper kitchen in our lodge, we could always mix it up with a takeaway from the on-site chippy or Chinese. When we weren't sampling all the food, we had buckets of fun at Splash Waterpark, only 50 yards or so from our lodge. It costs extra to visit (from £3.25pp) but it's well worth it, with a kids' pool, play areas and plenty of slides. Ninja Zone The pre-booked 90-minute pool sessions were just enough for our two, although bigger kids, who can go on all the flumes, might want to stay longer. Despite tearing around the pool for an hour and a half, Frank and Pearl couldn't wait to go straight to Brean Play indoor soft play afterwards. If one thing's guaranteed to tire them out, it's soft play. The area includes the Ninja Zone, with a challenging obstacle course for older kids, and a state-of-the-art ball court with an interactive screen that lets kids play all manner of games. If that's not enough, there's also the Brean Theme Park, which was again just yards from our lodge. And I could see why our kids were so desperate to go. The park has a great mix of rides for kids of all ages as well as adults. Thankfully, Bianca was happy to take Frank on the scarier rollercoasters while I made sure Pearl was OK on the carousels. You'll have to pay extra for entry, but Unity guests get discounted wristbands meaning it won't end up costing a fortune. Unity is not all about the kids, though. Adults can have their fair share of fun at the 18-hole golf course. Whatever you end up doing, there's a good chance you'll finish your day in the hot tub, soaking up all the memories. Or they might want to try their hand at new must-play sport padel, with Unity being home to Somerset's only two courts. We barely had enough time to try everything within the resort, let alone to venture out. 4 The fun-packed resort has recently been redeveloped as part of a £15million 'Comes Alive in 25' campaign backed by The One Show host Alex Jones, above at Unity Beach Credit: Supplied 4 The nearby Bream Theme Park was is winner for kids Credit: Supplied But for those keen to explore the area, Weston-super-Mare, Burnham pier and Cheddar Gorge are all nearby. However, try to make it back in time for the evening entertainment, which includes discos and parties for the little ones, games shows and entertainers. Whatever you end up doing, there's a good chance you'll finish your day in the hot tub, soaking up all the memories. And you'll certainly be grateful for those comfy beds, too.
