BGT fans all issue complaint over Wildcard after 'ridiculous' rule change
The 2025 final of Britain's Got Talent kicked off on ITV1 tonight with presenters Ant and Dec revealing which act had returned to the competition as this year's Wildcard act
Britain's Got Talent viewers have been left torn over this year's Wildcard act as the 2025 final kicked off on ITV. After months of auditions and live shows, the latest series of BGT comes to an end tonight in the supersized live final.
Just minutes into the final, however, hosts Ant and Dec announced that Welsh singing duo Han and Fran had been chosen by the judges as the Wildcard act after narrowly missing out on a place in the final during last weekend's live show.
The singing pair were first to take to the stage tonight, singing a mega-mix of ABBA songs; however, viewers were left divided over whether they were the right pick for the Wildcard.
"Can't believe the wildcard choice, some brilliant acts could have been picked over them #BGTFinal," one viewer wrote. Another said on X, formerly known as Twitter: "So many better acts should've been chosen as the wild card. #BGT."
Not all viewers were unimpressed, however, with many praising the duo. "VERY happy with this year's wildcard - fun, not 'up themselves' & absolutely British! #BritainsGotTalent #BGT," one fan tweeted.
Another said: "I'm kinda happy Han & Fran got the wildcard I quite liked them. But I do agree that there were better acts who deserved it over them. #BGT." A third wrote: "Han and Fran being the wildcard is the campest thing ever I'm obsessed! #bgt."
After Han and Fran's performance, judge Simon Cowell spoke about how they chose the duo as their Wildcard pick as the audience loved them - leading to some confusion among the viewers online. "Who picked the wildcard? Judges or the public? #BritainsGotTalent #BGT," one asked.
However, some called for a change to the Wildcard rule, proposing that it should be the viewers who get to choose the returning act and not the judges. "Why can't the audience have a wild card? Ridiculous #bgt."
Tonight's final has so far seen dance group Ping Pong Pang and singer Stacey Leadbeatter perform, with eight more acts set to take to the stage. However, the judges were the first to make their debut in the final - with Amanda Holden wowing the crowd and audience at home with her stunning white gown.
Earlier today, many fans were convinced that they had worked out who was set to win this year's final after the bookies revealed that Hear Our Voice - a choir made up of victims of the Post Office Horizon scandal - were the favourite.

New Love Island star exits ITV show after bosses learn of past arrest
One Love Island star has left the ITV villa after bosses learned of his past arrest. The star, who was released with no further action, said he 'fully cooperated with the police investigation' A new Love Island star was recently removed from the line-up of the upcoming series after bosses learned of his past arrest. Kyle Ashman, who was due to take part in the dating series airing this month, is no longer entering the Spanish villa following news of his recent arrest coming to light. Earlier this year, the 23-year-old water operative was arrested and quizzed by police with another person over an attack in Stafford, which Kyle said he had no involvement in a recent statement. After being quizzed by police, he was released with no further action. Speaking on his exit, Kyle said: "I fully cooperated with this police investigation and made it very clear that I had no involvement in this incident. I am not a violent person and any suggestion otherwise is a mischaracterisation." ITV also released a statement on his departure saying: "For personal reasons, Kyle will not be entering the Love Island Villa as planned. Staffordshire Police had previously said: 'We were called to a social club on Riverway, Stafford, at 7.40pm on Friday, February 28 following reports that someone had been glassed outside and a fight was taking place. Some of the men involved were wearing masks and were carrying weapons. 'Two men went to hospital after suffering injuries at the scene. Both have since been discharged. A man and a woman suffered minor injuries at the scene but did not want any medical treatment. 'Officers have reviewed CCTV footage and have been actively carrying out enquiries to find out more about what happened. A 22-year-old man, from Stafford, was arrested on suspicion of wounding and affray. Another man, also 22 and from Stafford, was arrested on suspicion of affray. 'Both were questioned in custody and bailed with conditions while our enquiries continue.' The police later confirmed both suspects were released with no further action last month. Meanwhile, when Kyle was meant to enter the villa, he shared his expectations from the show and shared how he flirted with women. He said: "I just go with it, find something to compliment a girl on and go from there." The star went on to say he was looking for "someone that's fun, confident and just themselves".

Love Island star's SHOCK EXIT as they leave the villa ahead of upcoming series after citing 'personal reasons'
Love Island star Kyle Ashman has left the show ahead of the launch episode next Monday. ITV have confirmed the 23-year-old from Stafford has chosen not to enter the villa and has decided to leave the show for personal reasons. It comes amid The Sun's reports that Kyle was involved in an machete attack in February when masked thugs stormed a wake and hacked at a dad with a blade. Kyle was one of two arrested by police but he was released with no further action and he has now confirmed he had no involvement in the incident, but has chosen to leave the ITV show regardless. Kyle told MailOnline: 'I fully cooperated with this police investigation and made it very clear that I had no involvement in this incident. 'I am not a violent person and any suggestion otherwise is a mischaracterisation.' Meanwhile ITV added: 'For personal reasons, Kyle will not be entering the Love Island Villa as planned.' The Love Island line up was announced on Tuesday so Kyle's departure will have plunged the show into chaos ahead of Monday's launch episode. The Sun have revealed they alerted bosses on Kyle being questioned in the attack but ITV said they were unaware of the incident and he was not flagged during the contestant checks. The incident on February 28 saw the victim, 38, nearly lose his arm after he was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment and kept it for around two weeks. Another mourner was reportedly glassed, one hit with a metal pole, and two people were run over by a car during the 15 minute attack at the The White Eagle Club in Stafford. Sources said the victim was attacked by three balaclava-clad thugs over an alleged £3,000 debt. He was injured by a blade that left him with a deep gash and has suffered tendon damage and is now unable to drive. Police confirmed yesterday that after the matter had been investigated Kyle and another individual were released with no further action only last month. The incident on February 28 at The White Eagle Club in Stafford saw the victim, 38, nearly lose his arm after he was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment A show source told the publication: 'ITV were entirely unaware of Kyle's past and, as he was not charged, it was not flagged as part of Love Island's stringent DBS checks. 'It's only right he can now return home to the UK to share his side of the story and therefore bosses took the decision that it was best for him not to enter the villa.' Staffordshire Police said on Monday: 'A 22-year-old man, from Stafford, was arrested on suspicion of wounding and affray. Another man, also 22 and from Stafford, was arrested on suspicion of affray. 'Both were questioned in custody and bailed with conditions while our enquiries continue.' Kyle, who works as a water operative, doesn't have a strong social media presence with just one Insta pic on his profile. Prior to his announced departure, Kyle said he was looking for 'someone that's fun, confident and just themselves'.
