At least six troops killed in southern Lebanon explosion
An investigation was underway to determine the cause of the blast, the army added in a statement.
Security sources told Reuters that the explosion was caused by "remnants of the Israeli war" in the coastal city.
Israel dealt major blows to Lebanon's Hezbollah in an offensive last year - the climax of a conflict that began in October 2023 when the group opened fire at Israeli positions on the frontier in support of its Palestinian ally Hamas at the start of the Gaza war.
A Us-brokered ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel in November ended that conflict, called on Lebanon to confiscate all "unauthorised" weapons across the country and said Israel would stop offensive operations against Lebanese targets.

Over 18,500 arrested in West Bank since Israel's war on Gaza began
Israeli forces detained 662 people in raids across the occupied West Bank last month, the Palestinian Prisoner's Society has reported. The group said the arrests included 39 minors and 12 women. China urges immediate ceasefire and rejects Israel's occupation of Gaza
Fu Cong, China's permanent representative to the UN, addressed the emergency Security Council session, firmly opposing any Israeli attempt to 'occupy' Gaza. 'Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people. He concluded by emphasising the need to revive the two-state solution, describing it as the only viable route to resolving the Palestinian issue and achieving peaceful coexistence.
