LTO launches license plate tracker app

GMA Network15-07-2025
Motorcycle owners can check the status of their pending license plates starting Wednesday through the Land Transportation Office (LTO) tracker application, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said Tuesday.
In a press conference, Dizon said the license plate tracker system can be accessed through the eGovPH application available on Google Play and App Store.
'This app will be available on eGov starting tomorrow. So, puwede na silang pumunta ulit sa LTO at i-click nila ang LTO tracker. Ilagay nila 'yung kanilang either plate number or MV file number,' Dizon said.

'Malalaman na nila kung nasaan 'yung kanilang plaka,' he added.

Motorcycle owners may opt to have their license plates delivered through a courier, according to Dizon. They can also just pick up their license plates at their respective LTO district offices.
This was announced following the completion of the over 5.4 million backlogs in LTO's license plate production for motorcycles.
'As of this year, it was cut down to 5.4 million. Officially, we are here to announce we have already produced 5.4 million motorcycle plates, which effectively eliminates the backlogs,' Dizon said.
The highest backlogs on motorcycle plates was recorded in Luzon with around 2.4 million, followed by Metro Manila with 1.4 million, Mindanao with 992,000, and the Visayas with 672,000.
Transportation Undersecretary for Road Transport and Non-Infrastructure Ramon Reyes said the distribution of the 5.4 million motorcycle plates will be completed by October.
'Ang target po natin is sometime in October siguro 100% na tayo. By October this year, yun pong 5.4 million na distribute na po 'yan nationwide,' he said.

DOTr pushing for Subway partial ops by 2028

Photo: Japan International Cooperation Agency - Philippines Office (JICA Philippines) The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is doubling down on its efforts to meet President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.'s target to make the Metro Manila Subway Project partially operational by the end of his term in 2028. 'So the subway, the whole line, is 2032, that is our target. But we want to finish at least two to three stations by 2028 and that is starting from Valenzuela, Quirino and hopefully even North,' Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon told reporters at the sidelines of the Post-State of the Nation Address (SONA) forum in San Juan City on Wednesday. Marcos had earlier expressed optimism that at least the first three stations of the Metro Manila Subway Project would be available to service the commuting public come 2028. 'We want to do the partial ops but we are discussing that with the Japanese,' Dizon said. The Metro Manila Subway is envisioned to have a total of 17 stations and a 30.34-hectare depot where the Philippine Railway Institute is located. The project involves the construction of a 33-kilometer railway line that will connect Valenzuela City to Pasay City, with a spur line to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3. The MMSP's 17 stations are: Valenzuela where the depot will be located, Quirino Highway, Tandang Sora, North Avenue, Quezon Avenue, East Avenue, Anonas, Katipunan (Camp Aguinaldo), Ortigas Avenue, Shaw Boulevard, Kalayaan Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Lawton East, Senate-DepEd, NAIA Terminal 3, FTI, and Bicutan. Earlier in the day, Dizon and Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto inspected the Ortigas Station of the subway project, which the Transport chief said is the only remaining major right-of-way issue hounding the project. "Ngayon nagsama-sama kami dito para maghanap ng solusyon [We joined together here to find a solution]. Hopefully, after a few weeks, we will finally start construction," said Dizon. For his part, Sotto said the Pasig City government is also looking forward to the project's eventual completion. 'Nakikita namin umaandar na lahat, at 'yung mga natitirang problema naaayos na,' said Sotto. EGov PH app to add new features

The government's flagship super app, eGov PH, is set to have new features to further boost ease of access to bureaucratic services. This was announced by President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. in his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA), according to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). In particular, the eGov PH app will soon have additional features such as application and renewal of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearances, Beep Card integration for Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) commuters, and access to the Bureau of Internal Revenue's (BIR) electronic Taxpayer Identification Number (eTIN) system. The eGov app was developed to eliminate long-standing inefficiencies in public service—such as long lines, fixers, and repeat visits to multiple agencies—by delivering key government services through a single digital platform. Currently, the app allows users to renew driver's licenses, access PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, and GSIS services, process immigration and customs documents for overseas Filipino workers, retrieve digital copies of the PhilSys National ID, create biodata for job applications and many more. The app also provides official government news and advisories to help Filipinos stay informed and avoid misinformation. Marcos has described the flagship app as a central pillar of his administration's efforts to bring government services closer to the people via digital transformation. Launched in 2023, the eGov PH app has so far recorded over 14 million registered users and facilitated over 200 million digital transactions nationwide. In his SONA, the President cited the app's growing global recognition, citing its receipt of the United Nations E-Government Award from the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) and the 2025 GovMedia Digital Transformation of Year and E-Governance Project of the Year awards in Singapore—accolades that he said reinforce the Philippines' emergence as a regional leader in digital public service innovation. — RF, GMA Integrated News

LTO waives traffic fines in calamity-stricken areas

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced Tuesday that it will waive the fines for traffic violations as well as for late vehicle registration and driver's license renewal in areas that were affected by the recent severe weather. In a statement, LTO Assistant Secretary Greg Pua Jr. signed a memorandum waiving the fines covering the weekly surcharge for late motor vehicle registration and driver's license renewal from July 21 to 25. 'Validity of the vehicle registration and driver's license within that period (July 21-25) are likewise extended to August 8, 2025,' citing the memorandum. Pua added that the settlement of fines for all traffic apprehension cases from July 21 to 25 will be extended until August 8. The LTO chief added that penalties for motor vehicles, including motorcycles, bought from July 21 to 25 this year which were not registered within the prescribed period will also be waived. Likewise, counting days on the Sales Invoice for vehicles bought under the same period will all start on August 8 of this year in order to avoid the penalty for late registration of new motor vehicles, Pua also said. Several parts of the country experienced heavy downpour and flooding due to the combined impacts of the southwest monsoon and typhoons 'Crising,' 'Dante,' and 'Emong.' According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, a total of 1,857,171 families or 6,670,506 persons were affected in 17 regions. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
