How did Fredricson fare on his Man Utd debut?
Tyler Fredericson became the 254th Manchester United academy player to graduate to first-team action when he made his debut against Wolves on Sunday. In what was quite a forgettable display from the Red Devils, the 20 year-old put in a strong performance and did not look out of place in senior football.Slotting in on the left of Ruben Amorim's back three, Fredricson helped keep Wolves' dangermen Jorgen Strand Larsen and Matheus Cunha quiet. The pair only managed two shots between them and it was set-piece excellence from Pablo Sarabia which separated the two sides at the final whistle. Fredericson was not afraid to get stuck in, winning more duels than any other player on the pitch. Impressively, he still managed to commit no fouls on the afternoon and showed a real maturity in his defensive actions. On the ball he opted to keep it simple, which is perhaps the smart thing to do so early on into your professional career. He only misplaced five of his 69 passes and completed 100% of his long passes, which shows promise for his ball-playing ability in the future. At the business end of the season, it is clear that Ruben Amorim is prioritising the Europa League over the Premier League, and Fredricson's debut shows that he has a reliable defender in his arsenal to help with squad rotation as his side push for European glory.

Football could introduce new transfer rule to let players buy out their contracts in radical move that would slash fees

The international players' union FifPro has accused Fifa of dragging its feet over new transfer rules after the European Court agreed that ex-Arsenal and Chelsea star Lassana Diarra was illegally "handcuffed" by Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow a decade ago. Top clubs and Fifa are battling to resist such a move, while this summer Prem clubs already splashed out £375million before the full market officially opens tomorrow. But now FifPro has told stars and their lawyers to be ready to test Fifa's failure to react and use European law to push for freedom of movement. FifPro legal chief Alexandra Gomez Bruinewoud said: 'Every worker should have the right to end a contractual relationship. READ MORE IN FOOTBALL PLAYING AWAY? Kieran Trippier parties with mystery blondes as star's wife consults lawyers 'Knowing how much you will have to pay as compensation is part of that right. 'Also, the fact you leave your job should not prevent you from being hired in another job, which is what was happening in football.' Even the giants of the game may be forced into a major rethink by the repercussions of a row sparked in Moscow a decade ago. Former Chelsea, Arsenal and Portsmouth midfielder Diarra may not have really impacted the Prem in his four seasons, which brought just 44 top-flight games. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK Yet Diarra's win at the European Court of Justice looks increasingly likely to significantly change the way the transfer market works. If FifPro is right, the result will be for all players to have the right to break their contracts. Transfer fees could be SCRAPPED forever after Lassana Diarra wins landmark court case against Fifa It would see players worth £100m on the open market suddenly available for a fraction of that sum. Of course, any new regulations will not be introduced this summer. Fifa rushed through a series of temporary transfer regulations, with dire warnings of the 'collapse' of the transfer market unleashing 'chaos'. But FifPro remains unconvinced the latest moves from Zurich meet the demands of EU law. One insider explained: 'This could be the last few years of the inflated transfer fees we have all seen. 'The European Court has said that football must operate within EU law. 5 'Football is the outlier. There's no other industry — other than maybe thoroughbred horses — where you see employees change hands for millions of pounds and it is time for the game to be brought in step.' Gomez Bruinewoud added: 'The judges in the Diarra case explained why the system was against EU law. 'I'm not afraid to say the same Fifa rules are probably also against most national labour laws.' Top players will benefit from higher wages and longer deals, though with budgets finite, that would mean less cash and shorter deals for players further down the pecking order — and limited job security in the lower tiers. Prem club bosses also fear the consequences, arguing the effective abolition of fees would blow up the entire footballing pyramid as money would no longer 'trickle down'. It is likely that, as with the Jean-Marc Bosman courtroom saga that turned European football on its head 30 years ago, it will need another player to be the test case to break the current system. But it seems that challenge is a matter of time from being made. And with the players' union backing, the most fundamental change the game has ever seen. 5 TRANSFER NEWS LIVE - KEEP UP WITH ALL THE LATEST FROM A BUSY SUMMER WINDOW WATCH EVERY MATCH OF THE CLUB WORLD CUP 2025 LIVE ON DAZN

Shock club joins Tyler Dibling race amid Man Utd and Chelsea links
A surprise contender has emerged in the race to sign Southampton winger Tyler Dibling this summer, with the youngster attracting interest from abroad. It was a disastrous season int he Premier League for the Saints last time round, but Dibling was one of the very few bright sparks. Still just 19 years old, the England Under-21 international caught the eye, scoring four goals in 38 appearances across all competitions. Manchester United and Chelsea have been credited with an interest in the teenager, as have the likes of Tottenham and Bayern Munich. There has not appeared to be much movement, despite that level of interest, and a new challenger has emerged. Portuguese publication Record report that Porto have been impressed by the youngster and are exploring a way of making a deal happen. That will be far from easy for them to do given the enormous asking price Southampton have suggested for Dibling, with the Telegraph reporting that earlier this year that the Saints have quoted an enormous £100m for their star player. That would be extremely ambitious for the now Championship club, but even if they cannot seriously expect £100m for Dibling, they will want a lot of money. Porto are reportedly exploring swap deals or loan arrangements as ways of getting an unlikely deal done. The winger is under contract at St Mary's until 2027 and has not sounded in a rush to leave Southampton in the near future. 'I don't try to think about it and just try and go into train every day and work hard and train the best I can,' he said earlier this year when asked about transfer speculation. 'At the end of the day, I love Southampton. I have been here since I was eight. It's such a great team and I am working to do big things with them.' Dibling has come with rave reviews from Southampton, with his game boasting far much more than his basic goal-scoring stats suggest. Former Southampton Under-21 head coach Adam Asghar told BBC Sport of the teenager: 'He's the most fearless player I've ever worked with. 'He's totally unique to anything I've seen before. He's got raw physicality, pace and power, is an unbelievable ball-carrier and is always impacting games. Former Southampton manager Russell Martin told The Rest is Football of Tyler Dibling… 'He's the most talented player I've ever seen – ever worked with. I worked with James Maddison at that age at Norwich, he was outstanding. 'Tyler has every capability to go and play for England and at a top level for a very long time. 'He's powerful, he's really quick, both feet, can shoot. I worked with Harry Kane and physically the stuff I've seen him do at 18 in the Premier League with people just bouncing off him – he has something I've not seen in a British player in a long time. 'He'll play as a No.8 or a No.10 eventually, but he's 18 so we played him out wide and he was incredible. 'He can play wide, we played him as a false nine in pre-season and he was our best player.' 'In a generation of football where it's very much about limited touches and moving the ball quickly Tyler can move it as quickly by carrying the ball rather than passing it and that's what makes him such a special talent. More Trending 'Every game (with the Under-21s) he would always have four or five moments that would almost take your breath away. 'He is really sure of his ability. He wouldn't be fazed by the opponent or situation, he played with fearlessness.' When Dibling was first linked with Manchester United in December, there was a suggestion the Red Devils were planning to bid £21m for him in January. Russell Martin, who was in charge of Saints at the time, said: 'I was told about some rumours of Manchester United wanting to bid £21m. I'm not sure they'd get his left foot for that.' Gary Neville's touching message to 'emotional' David Beckham after knighthood
Best pal Gary Neville has paid tribute to David Beckham after the football legend was awarded a knighthood early this week following years of speculation Gary Neville has paid tribute to close pal Sir David Beckham after he finally received a knighthood in the king's birthday honours' list. Emotional Beckham, 50, had been talked up as deserving of the gong for several years and found out last week that he was to be awarded. And Neville, who became the best of friends with Beckham during their time at Manchester United and served as best man at the high-profile wedding to Posh Spice, said in a post on social media: "Wow, Sir David Beckham! Congratulations mate. You deserve it and I'm so happy for you. Take time to reflect on everything you've done in an incredible 50 years!" Beckham spoke about the award before last night's FIFA Club World Cup opener between Inter Miami, the MLS team he co-owns, and Al Ahly. And while the game was a scoreless stinker, Beckham was light-heartedly asked by broadcaster DAZN if he had a chance to update his passport to include his new title. 'No, definitely not, I haven't,' Beckham said. 'It's been an emotional week I must admit. For me and for my family. It's obviously very special. It's a huge honour, but one that has been shared with myself and my family and so, it's been emotional.' The Club World Cup continues on Sunday with European champions Paris Saint-Germain facing Atletico Madrid in the pick of the fixtures. Two Premier League teams will feature. Chelsea get their campaign underway on Monday evening against Los Angeles FC, who have Olivier Giroud and Hugo Lloris in their ranks, while Manchester City meet Morocco's most successful team, Wydad Casablanca, on Wednesday afternoon. The competition runs to July 13 with the winners set to pocket almost £100m from a total prize fund worth £775m - a huge financial reward despite the tournament being heavily criticised by some players and many supporters.
