Furious Jaya Bachchan Pushes Man Trying To Take Selfie At Constitution Club
Several clips of the incident are now circulating on social media. In the video, Bachchan can be seen pushing the man and saying, 'Kya kar rahe hain aap? (What are you doing?) What is this?'
The actress-turned-politician was accompanied by fellow parliamentarians, including Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi. As soon as Bachchan shoved the man, Chaturvedi turned to look around before walking towards the Club.

This is not the first time Jaya Bachchan has made headlines for public outbursts. She is often seen giving stern looks to the media and paparazzi. Just days ago, during a special debate on Operation Sindoor in Parliament, the Rajya Sabha MP slammed treasury bench members for interrupting her, saying, 'Either you speak, or I will speak.'
Even Priyanka Chaturvedi was seen receiving a minor scolding from the Samajwadi Party leader during the same session.

Bachchan was last seen in Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. She will reportedly next appear in Dil Ka Darwaaza Khol Na Darling, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Wamiqa Gabbi.

Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday asked the Ganeshotsav Mandals to create awareness about the power shown by India to the world through Operation Sindoor and the use of indigenous products during this year's Ganesh festival. He appealed to the public Ganeshotsav Mandals to celebrate this Ganeshotsav in a peaceful and enthusiastic atmosphere in coordination with the administration, and also expressed the hope that the scenes based on 'Operation Sindoor' would be dedicated to the jawans. At the meeting to review the law and order situation, Fadnavis also instructed the administration to take necessary actions so that Ganesh devotees do not face any problems during the Ganesh festival. He gave instructions to give permission to idol makers for five consecutive years, like the public Ganeshotsav Mandals. He said that the idol makers should renew these licenses every year. For permission, one should take advantage of the computerised system-based one-window scheme launched by the Municipal Corporation, he added. He also gave instructions to increase the number of artificial lakes for immersion of Ganesh idols and the number of boats for immersion of tall idols in the deep sea on the seashore. Fadnavis said that the state government has given Ganeshotsav the status of a state festival. Therefore, a large-scale and detailed plan has been made by the state government to celebrate this festival. All the concessions given to Ganeshotsav mandals last year will be maintained this year as well. The law should be followed properly while celebrating this festival. 'Since Eid-e-Milad festival also falls during Ganeshotsav, care should be taken to ensure that law and order does not deteriorate anywhere by maintaining religious harmony. Positive action will be taken under the court to extend the days of permission given to loudspeakers during Ganeshotsav,' he added. According to the government release, it was decided at today's meeting that the property tax will not be levied on the offices of the public Ganeshotsav Mandals, which will convey to the administration in writing that their offices are not being used for commercial purposes.

"US Tariff Impact Will Ease In 1-2 Quarters": Chief Economic Advisor
Chief Economic Advisor V Anantha Nageswaran on Wednesday said US tariffs-related challenges will dissipate in the next one or two quarters, and urged the private sector to do more as the country navigates through other longer-term challenges. He attributed the growth slowdown in FY25, which saw a deceleration to 6.5 per cent from FY24's 9.2 per cent, to tight credit conditions and liquidity issues. The right agriculture policies can add 25 per cent to real GDP growth, Nageswaran added. On the US tariffs, the CEA said it is the second and third order impacts, which will flow once sectors like gems and jewellery, shrimps and textiles have taken the first order brunt, that will be "more difficult" to tackle. The government is aware of the situation and conversations with the impacted sectors have already begun, Nageswaran said, adding that one will hear from the policymakers in the coming days and weeks but people have to be patient. With speculation on whether US officials will visit India for trade talks later this month as reported, Nageswaran said the upcoming meet in Alaska between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladmir Putin is likely to influence the outcome. Declining to spell out any details on the trade negotiations between India and the US, the academic-turned-advisor said things are very fluid at the world stage right now with relations swinging from cooperation to stalemate, and spelled out his expectation of the impact of 50 per cent US tariff on Indian exports. "I do believe that the current situation will ease out in a quarter or two. I don't think that from a long-term picture, the India impact will be that significant but in the short run, there will be some impact," he said. He said no one can guess the exact reasons why President Donald Trump chose to slap the high tariffs on India, wondering if it's the fallout of Operation Sindoor or something even more strategic. However, the CEA said the focus on tariff-related issues should not blind us to more "important challenges", including the impact of artificial intelligence, reliance on one country for critical minerals, and their processing and strengthening of supply chains. He exhorted the private sector to do more "as we navigate these longer-term challenges, promising that public policy will play the facilitator's role". "Private sector also has a lot of thinking to do, given the massive strategic challenges we face in the coming years... the private sector also has to think about the long-term rather than the next quarter, which is what might have led to many of the challenges we are currently beginning to face," he said in the comments aimed at India Inc. He, however, did not elaborate on the subject any further. Stating that the government has allocated money towards the research purposes, he said it is now for the private sector to up their investments in the area. The Indian youth is staring at both physical and health health issues arising from excess screen use, consumption of ultra processed food, etc, which is leading to anxieties and even suicidal thoughts among people, the CEA said, seeking the private sector's help to tackle the challenge. He welcomed the capital expenditure put in by the private sector in FY26 and data to be released in February next year will attest to the same. The consumption story is "quite healthy", the CEA said, pointing to the data on UPI usage. Specifically on urban consumption, he rued that there is no proper data source to capture services consumption, and added that drawing from listed companies' earnings may also not be the right measure as consumption is moving to the unlisted space. The overall resource mobilisation in the economy is not showing any slackening, the CEA said, asking all to look at banks credit growth, commercial paper issuances, and IPO fundraising together. On China, Nageswaran said "we also need to understand the security dimension and look at the USD 100 billion trade deficit beyond just the number." As a solution, there is a need to diversify the sources of imports and the CEA stressed that the private sector will have a role to play there. Without naming China, he said only one country supplies critical minerals, which are essential for semiconductors, artificial intelligence tech, and added that the supply is "critically unstable". "We cannot go from crude oil import dependence to critical minerals and ladders import dependence. Understand that crude oil (sources) at least is more diversified," he said. "Indian policy makers must choose between accepting permanent strategic dependence on adversaries or committing the resources necessary for genuine support to independence," Nageswaran said. Stating that AI will cause labour displacement, Nageswaran pitched for caution in AI adoption and added that "we will have to choose the areas in which we allow AI to be deployed and harnessed, and also the speed with which we do so". There is a need to create at least 80 lakh new jobs per annum in the next 10-12 years, he added.

Order In Place Since 1988: Devendra Fadnavis On Row Over Independence Day Meat Ban
Mumbai: Breaking his silence after a furore over some civic bodies in Maharashtra asking meat shops and slaughterhouses to remain shut on Independence Day, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said the order is not new and has been in place since 1988. Responding to questions on the ban by municipal corporations in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Amravati and Kalyan-Dombivli, among others, and criticism from several leaders - including Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar - Mr Fadnavis said he found out about the ban through media reports and his government has no interest in telling people what they can or cannot eat. "First of all, this state government has not taken any such decision. This decision has been in effect here in Maharashtra since 1988 and a government resolution (GR) regarding this was issued. Even I wasn't aware of the ban initially - I only came to know about this through the media. When I looked into it, I asked several municipal corporations why they had taken such a decision. They sent me the 1988 GR and also informed me that they have been issuing such circulars every year since then," the BJP leader said on Wednesday. "In fact, even when Uddhav Thackeray was the chief minister, they took the same decision. They also sent me a copy of that decision, which I can share with you anytime. Ultimately, the government has no interest in deciding what someone should eat. We have many other important issues in front of us. That's why I feel that unnecessarily creating controversy over a decision taken in 1988, and now projecting it as if our government has taken this decision, is wrong," he added. The chief minister also said people should not be calling others names because of their choice of food. "Some people are also calling vegetarians 'impotent'. If things are reaching such a level, this nonsense must stop. Whether one is vegetarian or non-vegetarian, in our country, as long as the Constitution allows it, everyone has the right to live and eat what they want... This decision was not taken by our government, it was taken by the previous governments," Mr Fadnavis said. 'Wrong To Impose Ban' Earlier in the day, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar of the NCP had also joined the chorus of voices speaking out against the ban and said accepting it is "difficult". "It is wrong to impose such a ban. In major cities, people of different castes and religions reside. If it is an emotional issue, then people accept it (ban) for a day. But if you issue such orders for Maharashtra Day, Independence Day and Republic Day, then it is difficult," Mr Pawar said. Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Aaditya Thackeray also said civic bodies are focusing on the wrong issues. "What we eat on Independence Day is our right, our freedom. They cannot tell us whether to eat. In our house, even during Navratri, our prasad has prawns and fish because this is our tradition. This is our 'Hindutva'. Why are you entering our homes? The municipal corporation should focus on issues such as potholes on roads," he said. Several parties, including the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), and the Congress, have said they will carry out a protest against the ban in Kalyan if the order is not withdrawn by the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation. Similar protests have been planned even by the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP and the Republican Party of India (Athawale), which are part of the ruling coalition in Maharashtra.
