Pune: 2 men steal debit cards from parked car
Pune: The Wanowrie police are on the lookout for two individuals after they allegedly stole debit cards from a parked car and used them to withdraw Rs90,0000 from ATMs and buy goods worth Rs2.2L.
The incident occurred on June 2, between 7.30 AM and 11am, in front of the digital zone at Ramtekdi. The theft came to light on Thursday when a 35-year-old man from Dhayari filed a complaint with the Wanowrie police.
Sub-inspector Dhanaji Tone on Friday said the victim had parked his car outside the digital zone to take an online examination. "He had left his mobile phone, memory card, a photocopy of his Aadhar card, and the debit cards inside the vehicle.
The suspects reportedly used a stolen SIM card to generate PINs for the debit cards, enabling their unauthorized transactions, which included purchasing garments and a phone from various malls," Tone said.
"The suspect duo arrived at the scene and one of them opened the boot of the car by pulling a wire beneath the vehicle. After stealing the valuables, they then closed the boot and fled. They used a SIM card to generate PIN for the debit cards. They first withdrew Rs90,000 from ATMs and later used the cards to purchase things from malls," the officer added.
The police are analysing the CCTV footage to establish the identity of the suspects and arrest them.

Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 7 (ANI): People offered namaz in several cities in Uttar Pradesh on the occasion of Eid al-Adha on Saturday. The festival is celebrated peacefully in Ayodhya on Saturday, with people offering namaz. Ayodhya IG Range Praveen Kumar said, 'Namaz is peacefully being offered in all districts of the range... Police and administration are fully alert. We are ensuring necessary action and working in coordination with everyone...' Ayodhya DM Nikhil Tikaram Funde noted that the festival is being celebrated peacefully while appealing not to try to take the law into their hands. 'Namaz is being offered across the district, mainly in Eidgahs and mosques... There is information of any incident anywhere. The festival is being celebrated peacefully... I appeal to everyone to celebrate the festival like a festival and do not try to take the law into your hands,' the Ayodhya DM said. Punjab vigilance bureau in turmoil: 3 chiefs out, suspensions in over 3 months

The latest development saw the suspension of Ludhiana VB senior superintendent of police (SSP) Jagatpreet Singh on Friday, accused of "grave misconduct and dereliction of duty." The move came a day after the Ludhiana VB summoned Congress candidate for the June 19 Ludhiana West byelection and former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu in connection with an alleged case of private school land misuse. The summons sparked a political uproar, with Congress leaders accusing the govt of "misusing state agencies" for electoral gains. The ongoing crisis began in Feb when the AAP govt removed 1993-batch IPS officer Varinder Kumar, who is to retire on July 31, from his position as VB chief director, replacing him with 1995-batch IPS officer G Nageswara Rao. However, Rao's tenure was short-lived, and by late March, 1997-batch IPS officer S P S Parmar was appointed as the new chief director. A month later, Parmar was suspended on April 25, facing similar charges of "grave misconduct and dereliction of duty." He was replaced by 1994-batch IPS officer P K Sinha, who currently serves as both VB chief director and Punjab intelligence chief. The suspensions on April 25 also included Mohali VB assistant inspector general Swarandeep Singh and Jalandhar VB SSP Harpreet Singh Mander, following alleged inaction in arresting two transport department officials booked on corruption charges by the VB.
