Govt reconstitutes 3 commissions, names chairman of EBC panel
Patna: State govt on Saturday reconstituted three more commissions — Extremely Backward Commission (EBC), Food Protection Commission and Bihar State Child Labour Commission — to look after the interest of different sections of the society.
Naveen Kumar Arya, considered close to CM Nitish Kumar, has been made the chairman of the Extremely Backward Commission for the second time. He is also the JD(U) state vice-president. Kedarnath Bhandari of Madhubani and Amit Kumar of Gaya will be its members. There can be four members in the commission but only two have been appointed as of now. The EBCs in Bihar have the highest 36% population, followed by 27% of the backward classes.
The Nitish Kumar govt also named Angad Kushwaha, a close aide of Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) president Upendra Kushwaha, as a member of the Food Protection Commission, whose party had not been accommodated in the earlier commissions formed recently.
JD(U) state general secretary Prahlad Kumar has been made the chairman of the Food Protection Commission. Rinki Rani Pandey of Bhabhua, Manoj Kumar of Mokama, Angad Kumar Kushwaha of Gogri in Khagaria and Narendra Kumar Rishi of Triveniganj in Supaul, have been made members of the commission.

The Bihar State Child Labour Commission will have Ashok Kumar as its chairman and Arvind Kumar Singh the vice-chairman. Shreyasi Singh (MLA), Ramvilas Kamat, Vijay Kumar, Anil Kumar (MLC) and Ravindra Prasad Singh have been made its members, along with Sunil Kumar and Shaukat Ali.
RLM chief Upendra Kushwaha expressed his gratitude to the Nitish govt and posted on X: "The Bihar State Food Protection Commission has been formed by the state govt. Due to large gatherings at Idgah Maidan, along Trimbak Road, for mass mamaz, a significant police presence was deployed. Traffic diversions were enforced on two roads near Idgah Maidan from 7am to noon. The mass namaz commenced at 10 am. Senior police officers present extended wishes to Shahar-e-Khatib Hafiz Hissamuddin Ashrafi. The security arrangement included 300 personnel, comprising two DCPs, four ACPs, 20 PI, 80 APIs, and PSI. Additional forces included riot control, quick response team, a bomb detection squad, and home guards. Mark Carney was slammed on social media for his Eid message. Prime Minister Mark Carney was trolled on X for his speech at an Eid al-Adha celebration hosted by the Muslim Association of Canada. "The message of Eid resonates in this room, across this city, and it should resonate with all Canadians. .. the lessons and values of Eid are the same. Our Canada is a diverse country, proud home to different beliefs, different languages and different cultures. Those are differences that make us unique, and make us strong. We can pray differently but all of us must come together around the values of Eid," Caney said. "The values of community, of generosity and yes, of sacrifice.
