Nashik/Kolhapur/Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Muslim community across the state celebrated Eid-al-Adha (Bakrid) with great enthusiasm on Saturday. Muslims in their festive attire congregated at mosques and idgahs for morning Eid prayers, and later exchanged greetings.
In Nashik, the city police implemented strict security measures. Due to large gatherings at Idgah Maidan, along Trimbak Road, for mass mamaz, a significant police presence was deployed. Traffic diversions were enforced on two roads near Idgah Maidan from 7am to noon.
The mass namaz commenced at 10 am. Senior police officers present extended wishes to Shahar-e-Khatib Hafiz Hissamuddin Ashrafi. The security arrangement included 300 personnel, comprising two DCPs, four ACPs, 20 PI, 80 APIs, and PSI.
Additional forces included riot control, quick response team, a bomb detection squad, and home guards. Police conducted patrols near mosques and maintained surveillance on social media to prevent objectionable content.
In Kolhapur, the Muslim community celebrated Eid-al-Adha peacefully. Collective prayers for world peace were offered at various mosques. The main namaz at Muslim Boarding in Dasara Chowk took place at 9am.

Traditionally dressed attendees exchanged greetings, with special meals prepared for the occasion.
Gani Ajrekar, the chairman of Muslim Boarding, said, "This day commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son to obey Allah's decree, demonstrating his devotion to the Almighty."
Goats for 'qurbani' were brought to the city, with prices ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 7 lakh.

"Prayers for world peace and harmony to prevail in Kolhapur and the nation were recited," added Ajrekar.
Akhtar Shikalgar from Bagal Chowk noted that Hindu friends joined their festive lunch celebrations, which required week-long preparations.
In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Marathwada, Eid-al-Adha celebrations included peaceful prayers at Eidgah grounds and mosques.
People exchanged greetings and blessings.
Adil Madni, a youth leader, said Eid-al-Adha emphasises sacrifice for success and serenity. "The day commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's readiness to sacrifice his son in obedience to the order from the Almighty. The unwavering devotion and faith he showed towards the Almighty should be inculcated by everyone," he said.
The municipal corporation provided three designated slaughtering locations, recording 128 goat and 26 buffalo sacrificed.
Adequate police security ensured peaceful celebrations with no incidents reported by Saturday evening.

Telangana suffered due to BRS greed for commissions: Uttam
HYDERABAD: Telangana has suffered a permanent loss in the irrigation sector due to the 'wrong decisions' taken by the previous BRS government and its 'greed for commissions', alleged Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy. In a press statement issued on Saturday, Uttam countered the claims made by BRS MLA and former irrigation minister T Harish Rao while making a PowerPoint presentation on Kaleshwaram earlier in the day. Uttam said that only 162 tmcft water was lifted from Godavari from Kaleshwaram in five years. The BRS termed Medigadda as the 'heart' of Kaleshwaram and though its construction was completed in 2019, officials lifted only 61 tmcft in 2019–20, 31.82 tmcft in 2020–21, 33 tmcft in 2021–22, 25.97 tmcft in 2022–23 and 8.93 tmcft in 2023–24, a total of 162 tmcft, he said. During the flood season in these five years, around 63 tmcft water went waste into the sea. How was the BRS government able to provide irrigation to 22 lakh acres with just 99 tmcft, he wondered. 'In July, 2022 the Annaram pump house was submerged in water. In the same year, all the motors of the Kannepalli (Medigadda) pump house were damaged. In that year, officials could lift only 25 tmcft,' Uttam said and recalled that the piers of Medigadda sank on October 21, 2023. While Farakka barrage was constructed with a rock foundation to divert Ganga waters, three barrages in Kaleshwaram were constructed to divert funds, he alleged. The minister recalled that a huge rally with elephants was taken out during the BRS regime after the KCR government signed an agreement with Maharashtra to construct a barrage at Tummidihetti. However, it was later shifted to Medigadda as they thought they could not get money if Tummidihetti barrage was constructed, he added. Uttam also informed Harish that Sriramsagar, Yellampali, Lower Manair, Upper Manair and Singur projects were constructed by previous Congress governments. 'The Congress government spent Rs 6,156 crore on Pranahitha-Chevella project before the formation of the state. Till 2016, the total amount spent on Pranahitha-Chevella was Rs 11,679 crore,' he said.
