The late Bollywood star Raaj Kumar exuded an enigmatic charm that gave him a commanding presence on-screen. Before venturing into films, he had served as a sub-inspector with the Bombay Police, and brought that no-nonsense cop persona with him on the silver screen. Apart from work, he was also famous in the industry for his arrogance, making it difficult for his co-stars to get along with him during the shoots. As much as he was respected for his craft, people feared him due to his behaviour. However, there was one actor who refused to hold it back and gave him the taste of his own medicine. The veteran actor was Dharmendra.
During the making of the 1965 movie Kaajal , Raaj Kumar made a remark on Dharmendra's muscular appearance that didn't settle well with the actor. According to reports, he asked filmmaker Ram Maheshwari whether his requirement were actors or wrestlers for the movie. Dharmendra was furious after hearing this, but he chose not to react.
However, Raaj Kumar later mocked Dharmendra, calling him monkey, and laughing at his joke. This time, the Sholay actor lost his temper and even held Raaj Kumar by his collar. The matter could have escalated further if the crew members not intervened and distanced the two.
After the heated argument with Dharmendra, Raaj Kumar reportedly walked out of the sets and declined to shoot further. The film got completely eventually after convincing both the actors to make peace and work together. Kaajal was a box office hit and starred Meena Kumari, Padmini, Mumtaz and Helen in key roles.
According to reports, Dharmendra and Raaj Kumar got into a nasty fight for the second time at a private party. Rumours claim that Raaj Kumar made some offending comments on Dharmendra's son Sunny Deol at his presence.
Raaj Kumar died in 1996 due to throat cancer. His son Puru Rajkumar also starred in a few films.

'Sholay' box office: The Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra film ran in 28 theatres for 50 weeks, collected Rs 15 crore, here's why it remains 'India's biggest blockbuster' till date

The iconic 'Sholay' starring Dharmendra , Amitabh Bachchan , Jaya Bachchan , Hema Malini , Sanjeev Kumar , Amjad Khan among others is considered the greatest ever Indian movie. The film recently completed 50 years on August 15 and is still remembered over the years. While it may be enjoyed and loved, become a part of popular culture and even meme material for the Gen Z today. While the movie may be a cult, it even was a blockbuster at the box office and here's why the film continues to remain so over the years, despite the fact that today we have movies which makes Rs 500 crore and more at the box office. While the numbers today are sometimes, manufactured and the ticket prices are also so high, the success of 'Sholay' was unshakable and way ahead of its time. When the film released, people actually thought it will be a huge flop, also because Bachchan dies in the end and the makers also considered changing the climax. But it picked up and how. According to Box office India, the real turning point came a week later, on 21st August 1975, when Sholay opened in East Punjab. The response there was electric, confirming that Delhi/UP, Bihar, and Central India would follow the same trend. By October 3, when it opened in those regions, the film's blockbuster status was sealed. What followed was unprecedented. Sholay ran for 50 consecutive weeks (Golden Jubilee) in 28 cinemas across the country. To put that into perspective—back then, even a 25-week run (Silver Jubilee) in 10 cinemas was enough to declare a film a blockbuster. Not only did Sholay dominate in its first year, but it also continued pulling audiences for nearly two decades in repeat runs, until satellite television and multiplexes gradually changed viewing habits. Over time, the film's lifetime theatrical business grew to nearly three times its original year-one earnings. The film was directed by Ramesh Sippy and written by the legendary duo of Salim-Javed ( Salim Khan , Javed Akhtar). In an old interview with Rajeev Masand, Salim Khan had said, "That time the maximum business was done by 'Haathi Mere Saathi', which was Rs 90 lakhs per territory. So, we just went ahead and added about Rs 10 lakhs and said, Sholay will do more than Rs 1 crore in each territory. People started laughing, making fun of us and they thought Rs 1 crore yeh all India ka total business hoga. But we went wrong and terribly wrong as the film actually made more than that. It made Rs 2-3 crore per territory." 'Sholay' was made under a budget of Rs 3 crore and went on to earn Rs 15 crore that time in that year. As per today's inflated prices, 50 years later, the collection would be considered much higher. Fifty years on, the title of 'India's biggest blockbuster' still belongs to it, and very likely, always will.
