Enjoy a deluxe Corfu getaway in these five-star hotels
Two hotels that set this very high benchmark are The Olivar Suites and Kontokali Bay Resort, which you can book with British Airways Holidays. Both properties are perfect for a relaxing couple's getaway yet have been thoughtfully designed to welcome families, too.
With British Airways Holidays, your holiday package is Atol protected from the moment you book and can be secured with a low deposit with the option of flexible payments* which allows you to spread the cost of your holiday. There's a generous checked baggage allowance and dedicated 24-hour holiday helpline, giving you peace of mind from the start to the finish of your getaway. And if you're a member of The British Airways Club, you can collect Avios and earn tier points on your holiday package with British Airways Holidays. For a little extra luxury, why not upgrade to Club Europe (Business Class) and enjoy delicious food and drink on board, as well as lounge access**, inflight extras, priority check-in desks and boarding?
The big question is, which hotel will win you over?
The Olivar Suites
The setting of this boutique hotel is sublime. Ancient olive trees stud the grounds, and a restored 18th-century olive mill, which houses the hotel's characterful Olibar, provides a charming focal point within its centre.
Luxurious touches abound, too, from the club cars that whizz guests around the property, to the in-room Nespresso machines, slick fitness centre and gorgeous Aegeo Spa which uses quality, organic products.
The Olivar Suites are certainly fit for a romantic getaway with ultra-private suites, which come with a private balcony, terrace or garden, and if you upgrade to a Junior Suite, private plunge pools. But the airy two-bedroomed suites provide plenty of space for families, too. You have direct access to a pristine beach which offers shaded sun loungers, towel service and safe, shallow waters. The beachfront Ionian Suite, which sleeps two adults and a child and comes with its own beachfront gazebo, is ideal for new parents, too, allowing you to sashay between beach and suite within minutes.
When you're lounging luxuriously beside the hotel's inviting pool, opt for enticing refreshments such as melon mojitos and fresh meze from Olibar. You're in for a treat, too, at the all-day Mediterranean Flya restaurant where artistic plates of sea bream carpaccio and fresh Corfiot salads are served in a sophisticated setting.
Those who are keen on a local wander will find cafes, tavernas and ice-cream stalls aplenty in nearby Messonghi and Moraitika. You can also turn to the hotel's super-efficient concierge team for help organising local excursions, onsite cooking classes or a private transfer to Corfu Old Town. Alternatively, get behind the wheel yourself and hire a car and enjoy the freedom to explore the island at your own pace.
Kontokali Bay Resort
If you'd like to be close to a beautiful beach and Corfu's cultural riches, book a stay at Kontokali Bay Resort. It's a 15-minute drive from Corfu Old Town, a stone's throw from local shops and restaurants, and feels alluringly secluded, thanks to its position on a verdant peninsula.
This hotel is primed for relaxation, thanks to its luxurious rooms, bungalows and suites. They come with a furnished terrace, with some overlooking flower-dotted gardens. Others deliver knockout views of the nearby Gouvia Marina or sparkling Ionian Sea. Couples seeking extra luxury can upgrade to a Junior Suite Bungalow which, with its private pool, feels like a real treat. Families, meanwhile, are right at home in the spacious family rooms, partitioned by sliding doors.
The wealth of activities offered here is particularly impressive. Unwind with a yoga or aqua aerobics class or take a lesson in traditional Syrtaki dance. Alternatively, hit the floodlit tennis court, enjoy hiking and biking or take a local excursion. The hotel, handily, offers a free shuttle to the Old Town.
On the Blue Flag beach, you'll find all sorts of water-based fun, ranging from paddle boarding and pedaloes to banana boat rides. Adults can decompress in the spa, with its indoor pool, Jacuzzi, hammam and wide-ranging wellness packages. There's a superb pool (with fabulous sea views) and childcare is taken care of, with babysitting and an activity-packed Mini Club also available.
When it's time to dine, take your pick of four restaurants and two bars spanning a range of Mediterranean flavours. Horizon is a buffet restaurant featuring various food stations while the Marina serves up hearty comfort food. The charming Parea by the Sea serves up classy meze plates while trendsetting Asterias, helmed by Group Executive Chef Spiros Voulismas, is primed for a romantic meal for two, showcasing fantastic Greek fine dining.
British Airways Holidays packages include a generous baggage allowance for each customer and come with full Atol protection for complete peace of mind. Secure your Corfu holiday to The Olivar Suites or Kontokali Bay Resort with a low deposit and enjoy flexible payments until you fly.*

The food blew me away as well STAR QUALITY The new London hotel that feels like an A-listers apartment with retro rooms and fantastic restaurant Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) THE July London Victoria is one of the newest hotels to open in the city; their first UK hotel after success in Amsterdam with more plans for Dublin and Lisbon too. Here is everything you need to know. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 4 July London Victoria is one of London's newest hotels Credit: 4 I was in love with the interiors which toed the line of both modern and retro Where is the The July London Victoria? Just steps from London Victoria station, you are right in the middle of it all. The July London Victoria is a mastery in transporting you back in time without feeling dated, with laidback funk and jazz playing while checking into the mid century hotel. I was obsessed with the interiors as soon as I stepped in - rich mid century wood, painted ceilings and plush red chairs, all while funk and jazz played overhead. What are the rooms like? Despite calling themselves aparthotel, it felt more likely being in a trendy A listers flat. Each room comes with their own kitchenette, complete with Nespresso machines, tea making and all the glassware above the cooker. Decorated in baby pinks and rich green, I had great fun calling reception on the retro yellow dialling phone. Along with my very plush double bed, the pink tiled bathroom comes with a walk in shower and Marie-Stella-Maris toiletries, a Dutch brand the hotel has teamed up with. Despite being by a busy train station, my room was gloriously quiet thanks to overlooking a quiet street behind - meaning a fantastic nights sleep. What can you eat and drink there? The hotels The Idler is where you can dine all day. Lined with rich red leather seats, green ceiling ans pink trikes bar, I felt like I'd gone back to the80s (in a modern way) thanks to the abstract painted ceiling and mix of artwork on the walls Dinner is a small choice but good size portions affair; My Coppa cured meat and pickles starter was just as good as the whipped butter and sourdough. As tempted as I was by the steak and fish, the fresh tomato linguine with sides of seaweed salty Cavelero Nero and broccoli were a divine choice, as well as offering extremely large portion sizes. And I could hardly resist the chocolate mousse… Breakfast is a choice of continental or hot options such as potato hash and poached eggs. Take the kids too as they dine for free with an adult. Need a late night snack? There is even an on-site deli serving drinks and food to take back to your room. What else is there to do at the hotel? The hotel has an onsite 24hr gym - stylishly decorated in red patterns, albeit slightly sparse on the machines - as well as a cold plunge and sauna. The 24 hour reception is on hand for any questions or help - they happily were on hand when I forgot my phone charger by accident. Otherwise if you want to explore, catch a show at The West End, or hop on a train to explore the rest of the city. Is The July London Victoria family friendly? The hotel has a Family Apartment room which sleeps four, and you can request a free baby bed. Are there accessible rooms? There is the Accessible Apartment room which has an accessible bathroom, and there are two lifts in the hotel. 4 The rooms all have enough space for desks and kitchenettes

TikTok travel expert warns British tourists of new passport rule coming in days
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Travel expert Vix Aguilera, an ATOL and ABTA protected UK travel agent, has issued a crucial warning to all British passport holders planning European trips from 12th October onwards. In a TikTok video, she detailed changes to eGates, the automated self-service border control systems. "A new EES [Entry/Exit system] is going to apply to all non-EU citizens visiting the Schengen area and basically it will replace the need to queue and get a stamp," she started. The shift will require travellers to provide facial recognition and fingerprints at a new self-service kiosk instead. "You will be giving your biometric data upon arrival to the country," Vix clarified. "This is then going to be stored on a central database and linked to your UK travel guru advised that this record will remain valid for three years, meaning you only need to undergo the process once when you first enter." Now this is the interesting bit - it's going to be rolled out from 12th October in a phased approach," Vix added." So although every country is within their rights to do it straight away to cut down on the need for extra queues, reports Bristol Live. "She continued: "The way they are going to be doing this is by staggering it, so from days one to 29 there's going to be no minimum requirement and after that there's going to be 10% of passengers required to scan etc. " However, according to travel expert Vix, there's no need for immediate worry as airport security staff will be on hand to guide travellers through the new process upon arrival. "You just turn up to the eGates then have yourself directed by staff," she also warned not to mix up these changes with the forthcoming ETIAS - European Travel Information and Authorization System - a new requirement for visa-exempt nationals visiting 30 European countries. "That's not going to be rolled out until the latter end of 2026 - and that will require a pre-travel authorisation," she who will be impacted by the change on October 12? Vix continued: "Obviously if you are travelling from this date, if you are going to a Schengen area, and if you are a non-EU citizen and you are looking to stay for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. "One TikTok user expressed their appreciation for the clear explanation: "Thank you for explaining this so well. I was confused thinking it's the ETS, and since I'm travelling in December, worried that it being new might give me issues, but this is good info to have. "The reason behind these changes? The UK government's website, which provides further details, explains: "EES is designed to improve border security within the EU and its neighbouring countries, and reduce illegal migration in the Schengen area. It will automate border control checks to help the EU stop visitors overstaying. " The statement further explains: "The checks may take a few minutes, so be prepared to wait during busy times. If you enter the Schengen area through the Port of Dover, Eurotunnel at Folkestone or St Pancras International, EES checks will be completed at the border, before you leave the UK. You may also need to provide either your fingerprint or photo when you leave the Schengen area. ". The countries affected include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
