HYDERABAD: A 4 degree Celsius dip was witnessed in the temperatures across the state on Sunday, with the highest maximum temperature being recorded in Narayanpet at 41.1 degree Celsius, followed by 40.5 degree Celsius and 41.4 degree Celsius in Mahbubnagar and Wanaparthy, respectively.
The temperatures in Hyderabad also dropped below 40 degree Celsius, with the maximum temperature recorded in Musheerabad, Saroornagar, Kavan and Rajendranagar at 38 degree Celsius.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has forecast that the state will continue to experience light to moderate rains for the next six days. It also said that the state will witness a 2-3 degree Celsius dip in maximum temperatures in the next three days.

Light rainfall, cleaner air greets Delhi on 79th Independence Day
Delhi woke up to light rain on Friday as India marks its 79th Independence Day. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast light to moderate showers accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning for the day. Maximum temperatures are expected to hover between 31 degrees Celsius and 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will range from 23 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius. Cloudy skies, intermittent showers till Aug 20 in Delhi According to the weekly forecast, the weather department predicts generally cloudy skies with one or two spells of very light to light rain or thunderstorms in the morning and forenoon. Another spell is likely in the evening or night. This weather pattern is expected to continue till August 20. No alerts have been issued for the capital for the coming week. Delhi's air quality improves to 'satisfactory' The fresh spell of rain brought a marked improvement in air quality. At 7 am on Friday, Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 67, placing it in the 'satisfactory' category as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). This was a significant improvement from the 24-hour average AQI of 90 recorded on August 14. In the NCR, most cities reported 'satisfactory' or 'moderate' levels, Gurugram 104, Noida 88, Greater Noida 136, and Ghaziabad 102. Heavy rainfall alerts for neighbouring states While Delhi escaped weather alerts, heavy rain warnings have been issued for several neighbouring regions. In Uttar Pradesh, the IMD has placed an orange alert for very heavy rainfall in Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, and Bijnor districts. The monsoon spell is set to intensify in western UP over the next few days.

Rainproof arrangements at Golkonda Fort for I-Day celebrations
Hyderabad: Following IMD forecast that the state will witness heavy rains in the next two days, State Government made water proof arrangements for Independence Day celebrations at Golkonda Fort as well as in the district headquarters where Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and ministers will participate as chief guests in the celebrations respectively. Water proof tents were erected at Golkonda Fort from where the Chief Minister will hoist the Tricolour and address the people on Friday morning. State Roads and Buildings department officials said that white waterproof tents were erected at the inner courtyard of the Fort. This year, the familiar open-air seating, about one acre in size — where the parade marches past dignitaries and cultural troupes perform in the Rani Mahal area — is also being sheltered. The water proof tents will cover the stage where children present cultural performances. Waterproof mats are also being spread over the grass where the parade will take place to provide firm footing. More than 5,000 guests, including dignitaries, schoolchildren and visitors from across the city, are expected to attend the event. Over 800 police personnel have been deployed in and around the venue. 'Security arrangements are in place across the venue and approach routes, with police teams, access control points and crowd management measures. Visitors were advised to carry raincoats and umbrellas.
