Family Brings Home Body Of Manipur Flight Attendant, Hundreds Pay Tributes
The body of 20-year-old Kongbrailatpam Nganthoi Sharma, a flight attendant from Manipur who was killed in the Air India Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad, was brought to Imphal today.
She was one of the two flight attendants from the state who were killed in the crash of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. The other was Lamnunthem Singson, 26.
Nganthoi Sharma's family members, devastated by the huge loss, have been inconsolable since the news of the tragedy reached them on June 12. The family went to Ahmedabad and stayed there for the painful wait of the confirmation of the DNA sample.
A large number of people including residents, senior officials, elected leaders and community representatives stood outside Imphal's Bir Tikendrajit International Airport as they received the body of the flight attendant.

The Congress's Lok Sabha MP A Bimol Akoijam, Manipur Chief Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh, Director General of Police Rajiv Singh and others paid floral tributes to Nganthoi Sharma. Her body was then taken to Thoubal district, where the last rites took place.

Nganthoi Sharma's last message to her family before taking off was, "I'm going to London. In a few minutes, we'll take off. We may not be able to talk afterwards."
Nganthoi Sharma's father, K Nandeshkumar, and mother are still in trauma. She was the second of three siblings, all girls.

"It was her dream to become a flight attendant. We couldn't chat on video as usual due to the internet ban. But she messaged me while I was in school that she would be flying today, and that she would be unreachable," Nganthoi Sharma's elder sister Gitanjali told NDTV on June 12.
"After completing Class 12, she enrolled in DM College of Commerce. She was very keen on trying for a cabin crew job. She cracked it in her first try; she was very happy in thinking about going to many destinations," Gitanjali had said.

Air India recruited her in Imphal three years ago, while she was studying in an undergraduate programme.
"She got selected and was based in Mumbai," a family member said.
There were 242 passengers on board the Air India flight. Only one passenger survived the crash.

Man arrested for attacking Delhi CM is ‘serial offender', several cases registered against him in Rajkot
The accused behind the attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during the 'Jan Sunwai' program at her New Delhi residence is a 'serial offender', officials said on Wednesday. The attacker, 41-year-old Sakriya Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai, a resident of Rajkot, was arrested by the Delhi police. (ANI ) The officials further said that the accused has several cases registered against him in Gujarat's Rajkot, ANI reported. Delhi CM Rekha Gupta was attacked during a 'Jan Sunwai' program at her residence in Civil Lines early on Wednesday. The attacker, 41-year-old Sakriya Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai, a resident of Rajkot, was arrested soon after by the Delhi police. He has been charged for 'attempt to murder', with a case being registered against him under section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Rajesh Khimji has earlier faced several cases and has been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which relate to causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace, and for his presence as an abettor when an offence is committed. Apart from these, the accused has also been booked under sections dealing with illegal possession of liquor, ANI reported. Accused a repeat offender, acquitted by court four times Rajesh Khimji faced his first FIR in 2017 in Rajkot's Bhaktinagar police station, wherein he was charged under Sections 326, 504, and 114 of IPC. He was acquitted in the case by a court in Rajkot in November, 2019. The accused has been booked under the Gujarat Prohibition Act four times, and has been acquitted by courts four times, with one case against him still pending. He was booked under Section 65AA, 116B of the Gujarat Prohibition Act, which relate to sale, purchase, possession, and transportation of intoxicants, and unlawful possession of liquor. He was acquitted and released by a court in Rajkot in November 2023. Khimji was booked under the same sections again in the Bhaktinagar Police Station, and was eventually acquitted in the case by a Gujarat Court in October 2023, according to the ANI report. The accused was again booked in Bhaktinagar Police Station under section 6PI, 116B of the Gujarat Prohibition Act, with the case being pending in a court of Additional Civil Judge. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for September 29. A fifth case was registered against Rajesh Khimji under IPC Sections 324, 323, 504, 114 and GP Act Section 135(1), again at the Bhaktinagar Police Station. He was acquitted by a Rajkot court in December, 2024.

New Delhi [India], August 20 (ANI): South Africa's spin bowling all-rounder Prenelan Subrayen has been reported for a suspect bowling action after the conclusion of the first ODI against Australia in Cairns on International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday said that 'the match officials' report cited concerns about the legality of the 31-year-old's bowling action." ICC confirmed that Subrayen will undergo an Independent Assessment of his bowling action at an ICC Accredited Testing facility to determine the legality of his bowling with his off-spin, returned with figures of 1/46 in his 10-over spell. Missing MP woman found near Nepal border, cites marriage pressure
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], August 20 (ANI): A 29-year-old woman, Archana Tiwari, a lawyer and civil judge aspirant, who went missing while travelling on Narmada Express on August 7, was found from Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri, a Government Railway Police (GRP) official said on Wednesday. According to the GRP, the woman was travelling on the Narmada Express on August 7 to reach her hometown, but when she did not arrive, her brother, Ankush Tiwari, lodged a missing complaint with the GRP Katni on August 8. Later, the case was transferred to GRP Rani Kamalapati station in Bhopal, where a formal missing case was registered on August 9 and began investigation into the matter. GRP Superintendent of Police (SP), Rahul Lodha said, 'The woman Archana Tiwari who was travelling on berth number 3 of coach B 3 of Narmada Express on August 7 and efforts were on to trace her after the missing complaint. After the efforts of nearly 10-12 days, she was recovered from the Nepal border on Wednesday." Tiwari, a resident of Katni district, completed her graduation from her home district and practised as an advocate in Jabalpur for two years. Over the past year, she has been practising in Indore, preparing to become a lawyer and civil judge in the MP High Court. In the meantime, she was being pressured by her family members to get married, he said. 'Before the incident day, the family member of the woman had fixed her wedding and she had a debate with her family. The family members gave her warning to call off her lawyer studies to get settled with marriage. She wanted to continue her studies. She then talked to one of her friends, Saransh Jokchand (26), a resident of Shujalpur and one Tajendar Singh and made a plan to escape," the officer said. After that, with the help of Jokchand and Singh, she left the train in the outer area of Itarsi railway station, where there was no CCTV and travelled to Shujalpur, Indore and Hyderabad. She then moved to Delhi, and from there she crossed to Nepal and was staying in Kathmandu. Later, when the police rounded up Saransh Jokchand, the whole incident came to light, he that, the police contacted the woman, who was brought to the Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri, then to Delhi and Bhopal on Wednesday, the officer concluded.
