Alleged Boulder terrorist overstayed visa, granted work permit by Biden administration
The suspect accused of firebombing peaceful pro-Israel activists in Colorado on Sunday is a noncitizen who received a work permit two years ago from the Department of Homeland Security.
Mohamed Sabry Soliman's work permit, given to him during the Biden administration, expired in March, three senior DHS and ICE sources told Fox News.
A DHS spokeswoman said Soliman, an Egyptian national, was living in the country illegally at the time of the attack. He entered the United States in August 2022 with a visa that expired in February 2023, the spokeswoman said, noting he applied for asylum during that time.
Soliman received the work permit from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in March 2023, the sources said.
Soliman allegedly injured eight adults, including elderly victims up to 88 years old, at an outdoor mall in Boulder, according to the FBI.
The suspect was witnessed shouting "Free Palestine" during the attack and using a makeshift flamethrower to target the crowd, the FBI said. Police said the victims were hospitalized with burn wounds.
They had been participating in a Run for Their Lives protest, which, according to the Anti-Defamation League, is a weekly event attended by members of the Jewish community to support hostages held in Gaza by Hamas terrorists.
Leo Terrell, a top Department of Justice official in the Civil Rights Division, said one of the victims lived through the Holocaust.
"She endured the worst evil in human history," Terrell said in a statement on X. "She came to America seeking safety. And now, decades later, she's victimized again by a terrorist screaming 'Free Palestine.'"
Soliman is being detained in Boulder County Jail on charges of murder, crimes against at-risk and elderly adults, using incendiary devices, and assault.
In addition to state charges, federal charges are also possible.
"Department of Justice agents with local law enforcement are investigating the tragic attack in Boulder, Colorado," a DOJ spokesperson said. "Our hearts and prayers go out to all those affected by this needless act of violence, which follows recent attacks against Jewish Americans. We will follow the facts and prosecute all perpetrators to the fullest extent of the law."

Arrest in connection with Palm Springs bombing made at NYC's JFK airport
A person was arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City overnight related to the investigation into last month's bombing outside a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, a U.S. official familiar with the investigation told CBS News. The individual may have provided material support for the bombing, but it isn't clear if they knew about the bombing. The bomber, identified by officials as 25-year-old Guy Bartkus, died in the blast. Four other people were injured in the explosion. Police in Palm Springs said the bomber backed his Ford Fusion into a parking spot outside the clinic and the powerful explosion left a crater on the morning of May 17. The explosion could be felt more than a mile away from the blast zone, the FBI said. Arkansas officials release new photo of escaped 'Devil in the Ozarks' on run for weeks
The Arkansas Department of Corrections (ADC) on Tuesday released an updated photo of Grant Hardin, a former police chief-turned-prisoner who escaped detention on May 25, as a large-scale manhunt continues near the Ozarks. Former Gateway Police Department Chief Hardin, 56, fled from the North Central Unit, a medium-security prison, in Calico Rock that Sunday afternoon, according to ADC. Nicknamed the "Devil in the Ozarks," Hardin was serving decades in prison for murder and rape. "The search for escaped inmate Grant Hardin is ongoing as teams continue to focus their efforts in the north central Arkansas region while investigating tips as they are received," ADC said in a Tuesday update, along with a photo showing Hardin with facial hair. "With over a week passing since Hardin escaped the North Central Unit, we are releasing a possible updated headshot which could reflect how he might look today." The FBI and U.S. Marshals are offering a combined $25,000 for any information leading to Hardin's capture. They are asking anyone with information to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit a tip online at It took less than 30 minutes for prison officials to notice that Hardin had disappeared from prison. Photos that the Stone County Sheriff's Office posted to social media show Hardin wearing an ADC-style uniform during his escape through a sally port, though ADC communications director Rand Champion said the uniform he was wearing was not official. Hardin has ties to Garfield, Eureka Springs, Holiday Island and Huntsville, according to the FBI. Champion said during a news conference last week that authorities are fairly confident in the route they believe Hardin took when he escaped and his current location. While Hardin was being booked into the state prison around that time, officials submitted his DNA sample into a database. His DNA linked him to the rape cold case of a teacher in 1997, the outlet reported. Hardin ended up pleading guilty in that case in 2019, according to KNWA. The former police chief's escape came two days after 10 prisoners escaped a correctional facility in New Orleans, eight of whom have since been recaptured while two remain at large. Hardin is described as a 6-foot White male, weighing approximately 259 pounds.
