#SHOWBIZ: HK actor Bowie Wu regrets not giving his late wife flowers

HONG KONG: Veteran Hong Kong actor and television host Bowie Wu Fung recently spoke candidly about his marriage and personal regrets.
According to Dimsun Daily yesterday, Wu admitted to carrying the weight of personal regrets, primarily that he wasn't present for his children during their early years.
"I didn't get along well with them back then. I rarely met them because I was so busy with work. Whenever I returned home, they would all be sleeping," he said.
Wu has five children with his late wife, Lui Wing Ho, who passed away from an illness in 2016.
He revealed that when he married in 1957, his boss had insisted they keep it a secret as he was at the peak of his career.
Despite the secrecy, Lui remained patient and focused on raising their children.
"My wife is the love of my life. I don't know what I would've done without her help, so I'll always miss her," he said.
One of the actor's lingering regrets is never having given his wife flowers while she was alive.
To make up for it, he now places flowers in front of her photograph every few days.
"I'd also talk to her each night," he added.
Wu is currently in a relationship with 90-year-old actress Helena Law Lan.
The couple went public in September last year, with all of Wu's children expressing their full support for the romance.
Since beginning his acting career in 1953, Wu, 93, has appeared in major dramas such as Virtues Of Harmony II (2003-2005), The W Files (2003), and Forensic Heroes III (2011).
In recognition of his contributions to the industry, he was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2023 Hong Kong Film Awards.

Jackie Chan makes rare appearance with 42YO son Jaycee in Switzerland

Jackie Chan has a 42-year-old son Jaycee with former actress Joan Lin. Photos: China Press, Xiaohongshu American singer-actor Jaycee Chan, the son of Hong Kong icon Jackie Chan, has largely kept a low profile since his 2014 drug scandal. At the time, Jackie, 71, voiced his disappointment in his son and stated he would not use his connections to help him. The pair only reconciled after Jaycee, 42, completed his six-month prison sentence and have rarely been seen together in public… until recently. On Wednesday (Aug 6), a netizen on Xiaohongshu revealed that they had unexpectedly run into Jackie and his son at Lake Geneva in Switzerland. The post included a photo of Jackie – dressed casually in an all-white outfit – strolling alongside a few others. Although Jaycee's face wasn't visible in the picture, the netizen said he was the one wearing a black cap. 'I was sitting on a chair by the lake, just daydreaming, when I turned around and saw Jackie Chan! The guy in the black cap next to him was Jaycee, but I didn't manage to snap a photo of him,' the user wrote. It's understood that Jackie is in Switzerland to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 78th Locarno Film Festival, scheduled for Aug 9. Prior to the 2014 drug scandal, the father-son duo appeared together in films such as The Twins Effect II (2004) and 1911 (2011), where they showcased their on-screen chemistry. Jaycee is the only son of Jackie and his wife, former actress Joan Lin. The action star has an estranged 25-year-old daughter, Etta Ng Chok Lam, from an extramarital affair with former beauty queen Elaine Ng.

Taiwan-based Malaysian singer Gary Chaw reportedly hasn't moved on from ex-wife: 'Still in pain'

It's been nearly three years since Malaysian singer Gary Chaw divorced Taiwanese fashion blogger Wu Shuling, but it seems he hasn't fully moved on. The 46-year-old recently shared on Xiaohongshu (Red Note) a video of himself singing his 2019 song I'm Just A Fool – a ballad in which he confronts his shortcomings and expresses his unconditional devotion. The post quickly drew attention, with many netizens praising Chaw's soulful vocals, while others shared how the performance evoked a deep sense of nostalgia. According to China Press, Chaw also left two comments about Wu under his video. The former couple, who divorced in November 2022 after 14 years of marriage, share two children – Joe, 16, and Grace, 14. 'I still haven't forgotten Shuling,' read one of the comments. 'Actually, I'm still in pain,' he wrote in another. It's reported that Chaw later deleted both comments mentioning Wu. This isn't the first time the singer has shown that he's still struggling to move on. In July 2023, Chaw made a series of Instagram posts about his ex-wife and their children – including a throwback wedding photo of him and Wu smiling blissfully. 'I'm messed up... But I still love her,' he wrote at that time. A few months later, while performing his song Zhang Wen during a concert in Taipei, Chaw altered the original lyric 'There is no winning or losing' to 'There is no Shuling'. 'I still love her… Taking it one step at a time,' he said back then.

HK actress Myolie Wu dispels rumours with family vacation in the Maldives

Myolie Wu shares a photo of her family of five on social media on July 23. Photo: Myolie Wu/Instagram Hong Kong actress Myolie Wu is vacationing with her family in the Maldives and, in the process, dispelling any lingering rumours that her marriage is on the rocks. 'Our annual date with the ocean, love this paradise!' the 45-year-old wrote on social media on July 23, sharing several photos of herself and her family at a lagoon resort. The actress, who recently starred in Chinese TV series A Better Life (2025), is married to British-born businessman Philip Lee, 52. They have three sons, aged four to seven. The five of them were all dressed in shades of blue in the photos, with Wu resting her hands on her husband's shoulder in one picture. She added on Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu: 'Although the weather isn't great, it's a sunny day as long as we are together!' Lee was in the news in March when he was spotted by a Hong Kong magazine hugging several women at a pub while celebrating his birthday. He took to Instagram to address the report, saying that he was a 'big hugger'. Wu did not react publicly to the incident for a while. Neither did she appear in the Instagram photos posted by Lee of their youngest son's birthday in April, raising speculation of marital woes. The actress broke her silence in May, telling the media that it was a misunderstanding. 'In fact, those who were present that night were close friends and relatives,' she said. 'The two ladies who were photographed hugging my husband are friends whom I have known for many years, and their husbands were also present.' Wu added: 'My husband hugged both men and women. It was normal social interaction with his friends.' Referring to her marriage, she said: 'There are absolutely no problems in our relationship.' – The Straits Times/Asia News Network View this post on Instagram A post shared by Myolie Wu (@myoliemyolie)
