India reports 10 more Covid-19 deaths amid slight in active cases

New Delhi, June 15 (UNI) The total number of active Covid-19 cases in India dropped slightly to 7,383 on Sunday, down by 17 cases from 7,400 a day earlier, according to the latest data released
by the Union Health Ministry at 8 am.
However, deaths due to Covid pathogen cases increased by 10 to 97, the Ministry said. Three deaths were reported in Delhi, five in Kerala and two in Maharashtra. All reported cases involved individuals with significant underlying health conditions, highlighting the heightened risk posed to those with comorbidities.
Fresh infections in Delhi and Madhya Pradesh increased by 10 each to touch 682 and 130 respectively, but they dropped by 102 in Kerala, though total caseload was highest among states at 2007.
However, a few states including West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Puducherry, and Tripura did not report any new infection, as per the government's website.
The three Covid virus related deaths in Delhi included a 57-year-old woman with diabetes and chronic lung disease, a man (57) with diabetes and liver disease, and an 83-year-old woman with
a medical history of diabetes, hypertension, and lung disease.
In Kerala, the five deceased included an 86-year-old man with hypertension, coronary artery disease, chronic kidney disease, and dementia; a 79-year-old man with diabetes, hypertension, and kidney disease; a 70-year-old man suffering from diabetes, hypertension, and thyroid disorders; a 92-year-old woman with a history of stroke and Parkinson's disease; and a 73-year-old man with hypertension, coronary artery disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
In Maharashtra, two deaths have been confirmed. One was a 56-year-old man with diabetes and hypertension. The second was a 32-year-old man diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and anaemia — both conditions compromising immunity and resilience.
The public health experts have urged high-risk individuals to take all recommended precautions, including masking in crowded places, and regular health checkups.

RunAddicts 7th Annual Run – A Grand Success!

Bengaluru :The 7th Annual RunAddicts even tgt, held today at RR Nagar, was a resounding success! With the inspiring theme 'Run to Educate Rural Child,' this event was organized to support the education of children in rural areas. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our key sponsors — Connectivity Solutions, Gleneagles BGS, Vikaas Infra, Sadhvana Managed Farms, and Webinspiron — whose generous support played a vital role in making this event possible. Over 4,000 registered participants from across the city came together to run for a cause. People of all age groups — from 4 to 90 years — enthusiastically participated in the 10K, 5K, and 3K runs, many along with their families. This was a completely green and eco-friendly event, consciously conducted without the use of plastic or paper. The entire run was driven and managed by more than 250 dedicated RunAddicts volunteers. RunAddicts has been hosting this flagship event in the month of June every year since 2017, except during the COVID years. The funds raised through registrations, donations, sponsorships, and CSR partnerships will go towards: • Distributing notebooks to rural schools • Providing sports materials • Supporting school infrastructure (benches, toilets, etc.) • Awarding scholarships to deserving students • Assisting with staffing needs in under-resourced schools RunAddicts is a community of over 4,500 fitness enthusiasts, founded in 2016. It is a non-commercial, non-political, and non-religious volunteer-driven organization. Membership is free and open to all. Beyond the annual run, RunAddicts has conducted 62 monthly runs to engage the RR Nagar community in fitness. The group also undertakes various social initiatives, including tree plantation drives and COVID-19 relief efforts, such as free vaccination camps and aid distribution. Together, we ran not just for fitness, but for a brighter future for rural children.

Manipur's Erwin Khundrakpam tops NEET UG 2025 in state, says

Thoubal (Manipur) [India], June 15 (ANI): Expressing his happiness after achieving the first rank in the NEET-UG 2025 examination in Manipur by scoring 99.82 percentile, Erwin Khundrakpam highlighted that he was expecting such a result as it was his worst exam of the year. Khundrakpam said that he wanted to become an engineer in the first instance, but later his father explained the importance of becoming a doctor. The latter said that he gave his first NEET attempt in 2023, and his class 11th results were not good due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 'I had no idea this would happen, as this was the worst exam I had all year. I was not expecting this at all. I initially wanted to become an engineer, but my father explained the importance of becoming a doctor, so I gave my first attempt in 2023. My Class 11 results weren't good because of COVID, so I wasn't well prepared back then. This year, I tried my best and worked hard', Erwin Khundrakpam told ANI on Sunday. Meanwhile, Krishang Joshi secured All India Rank 3 in the NEET UG 2025 examination, entering the top ranks of one of India's toughest medical entrance tests.
